This position is located in the logistics section of a Battalion (Bn) or Squadron (Sqdrn) size unit of the Army National Guard. The purpose of this position is to function as the primary assistant to or to function as the senior logistics full time member of the organization. Under the direction of the Officer in Charge (OIC), Logistics Officer, or Commander, this position oversees and ensures the accomplishment of work performed in the area of logistics.

Duties and Responsibility:

1. Incumbent is responsible to provide technical guidance to subordinate units, the headquarters logistics section, or other staff sections concerning logistics and maintenance management. May provide supervision and guidance to full time personnel in the logistics section of the organizational headquarters. Schedules and provides proficiency training for logistical personnel within the command. Plans and provides guidance for the implementation of current and future equipment authorization documents. Performs oversight and random reviews of subordinate unit expendable/durable requisitions.

2. Assists in the development of command logistics policies. Consolidates and inputs unit level logistics feeder information into the organizational readiness report. Prepares logistics plans for scheduled training and deployments. Coordinates for the receipt and issue of billeting, equipment, and supplies for training.

3. Is the Commander's primary technical specialist regarding food service operations. Reviews and forwards subsistence requests and consumption reports. Responsible for adjusting the scheduled meal menus. Reviews AT and IDT food service records and issues necessary guidance to logistical and food service personnel. Coordinates for higher level food service assistance. May be required to serve as a member of a food service menu board. Forecasts, prepares requests, and coordinates receipt of bulk and package petroleum, oil, and lubricants (POL).

4. May be required to coordinate with local officials, service organizations, etc., for a variety of purposes: armory security coordination with police, rental of the armory, organizational participation in celebrations, and to provide public information about the National Guard. May attend meetings as a representative to coordinate employer and civic support for National Guard activities.

5. May be required to support recruiting activities to assist in maintaining the organization at authorized strength by establishing personal contacts and maintaining effective working relationships with strength management personnel and key leaders of the community. May coordinate the equipment requirements to support school activities such as "career days" for the purpose of informing individuals and groups of the benefits of belonging to the National Guard.

6. May plan, organize and assign work to employees engaged in logistical work assigned at the command level. Provides technical assistance and guidance to organizational logistics employees. Revises assignments or details employees to other duties as necessary to meet changing work situations, deadlines, or priorities.

Position Description # D0487000

This position is located in an Army Aviation Support Facility (AASF) or an Army Aviation Flight Activity (AAFA). The purpose of the position is to assist a higher grade mechanic in accomplishing maintenance and repair of both fixed and rotary wing aircraft.

Description of Duties:

(1) Accomplishes a variety of repairs on military aircraft. Repair work includes removing, cleaning, reinstalling or replacing defective parts, accessories and components such as worn gaskets, couplings, fittings, bad actuators, accumulators, and gauges, sections of corroded fuel and oil lines, worn cable pulleys, frayed sparkplug cables, and burned-out landing lights. Makes adjustments and settings such as cable tension, seat travel and other connections. Locates worn, dirty or poorly adjusted parts or components through visual check. Uses common hand tools such as pliers, wrenches, screwdrivers to complete repair work.

(2) Assists a higher-grade mechanic in completing more complicated and detailed repair work. This would include removing and installing engines, rotor heads, transmissions, etc. Assists in making adjustments to controls, cable riggings, rudder pedals, etc.

(3) Assists in performing functional checks and preventive maintenance on aircraft to include daily inspections, pre and post flight checks, fuel contamination checks, oil sampling, etc. Inspects for oil, fuel or hydraulic leaks, cut or broke lines, loose panels, etc. Services aircraft with oil, de-icing fluid, fuel, etc. Launches and recovers aircraft.

(4) May be required to perform such additional duties as firefighting, aircraft crash/rescue, snow removal, etc.

(5) Performs other duties as assigned.

As a Fuel Distribution System Worker (Title 32), WG-5413-08, you will perform the below duties:

1. Receives, stores, and issues aviation fuels for the facility. Orders fuel under a negotiated government contract with a vendor who provides delivery to the storage location. Receives fuel by tanker truck or direct pipeline and assists in operations required to secure fuel in fixed storage facilities. Handles and monitors associated equipment including grounding lines, hoses, gauges, pump, etc., and ensures that established procedures and safety practices are strictly observed. Ensures that fuel amounts received are the amounts ordered and completes appropriate receipt documents.
2. Operates a complete bulk fuel storage and distribution systems composed of storage tanks, interconnecting line and pipe arrangements, pumps, meters and gauges, etc., in the movement of fuels between storage tanks and to refueling equipment and facilities consisting of 1200-5000 gallon tanker trucks and/or hydrant refueling equipment interconnected with the fuel farm. Operates necessary transfer and pumping equipment including valves, pumps, safety lines, and hoses. Coordinates with personnel receiving fuel, and observes to ensure safe conditions exist during fuel transfers. Performs general maintenance on facilities involving flushing tanks, cleaning and charging strainers, draining water from lines and tanks, and reporting the need for more extensive repair needs.
3. Operates gasoline or diesel-powered truck with a gross vehicle weight of more than 22,000 pounds having 12000 to 5000 gallon capacity on public roads and highways on a regular and recurring basis in order to receive aircraft fuel from a commercial or government storage site and transport it to aircraft operating sites. Based on destination, determines the route to be followed taking into consideration clearance of underpasses, load limits of bridges and overpasses, detours, and road capacities, etc. Exercises skill in being capable of operating vehicles with multiple forward speeds in two or more gear ranges, two or more driving wheels and air brake systems. Must be able to back the vehicle into narrow areas and around loading docks, etc., and drive on steep grades and curves without spilling cargo. Because of the hazardous nature of the cargo transported, exercises extreme care and all applicable safety precautions in loading, storing and dispensing fuel and in operation of the transporting vehicle.
4. At a tank truck loading facility, operates equipment to transfer fuel from storage tanks by coupling and uncoupling hoses, monitoring meters and gauges, opening and closing valves, operating pumps, and recording fuel mounts received. Transports fuel from the fuel farm to the flight line and positions the vehicles to facilitate off-loading of fuel. Exercises extreme caution in maneuvering around parked aircraft by ensuring that tanker and aircraft are properly grounded and operates the pumping equipment used to transfer fuel to the aircraft. Monitors gauges and motors and coordinates with personnel fueling the aircraft. Starts and stops pumps, closes and open valves, disconnects and drains hoses, etc. Effects emergency cut off of pumping operations in case of accident. Performs operator maintenance to ensure equipment is safe and operable. Performs duties required to off-load or defuel aircraft when needed to perform maintenance or other functions.
5. Performs required fuel testing. Determines the existence of water in fuel tanks and follows procedures to drain it. Conducts aqua-glo, milpor, and other fuels tests at required intervals to determine the existence of water, sediments, and other contaminate in the fuel. Drains required fuel samples from storage and dispensing units, and prepares them for shipment to testing laboratories.
6. Prepares documentation required in accounting for fuel types and coordinates information with other supply functions.
7. May be required to perform such additional duties as structural firefighting, aircraft fire/crash/rescue duty, security guard, snow removal, munitions loading and handling, heavy equipment operation, maintenance of facilities and equipment, or to serve as a team member on boards to cope with natural disasters or civil emergencies.

As an Aircraft Mechanic (Title 32) (Permanent), WG-8852-10, you will perform the below duties:

1. Perform inspections, functional checks, and preventive maintenance on assigned aircraft to include pre-inspection, daily inspection, pre- and post-flight inspections and such special inspections as required, including fuel contamination checks, oil sampling, an inspection of onboard emergency equipment. Conducts checks on hydraulic, electrical, transmission, power systems, etc.
2. Troubleshoots, diagnoses, and performs unscheduled maintenance on assigned and transient aircraft. Performs the full range of repair and testing of aircraft system, assemblies, and surfaces. Using a variety of methods involving test equipment, visual checks and instruments, diagnoses and identifies problem areas and determines the extent of repairs required. Removes components and assemblies, repairs or replaces defective parts and components and reassembles repaired items into the aircraft. Installs, aligns, and makes needed adjustments to major components and assemblies such as engines, propeller/rotors, transmissions, hydraulic systems, etc., assisting Specialists as required. Accomplishes adjustments to related systems which may be affected by repairs. Conducts ground functional tests of all aircraft systems. Services aircraft with oil, de-icing fluid, fuel, and hydraulic fluid. Launches and recovers assigned and transient aircraft; performs inspections prior to takeoff. Inspects for conditions such as oil, fuel, and hydraulic leak, cut lines, tires and loose panels.
3. May be required to perform such additional duties as fire fighting, aircraft crash/rescue, snow removal, etc.

As an Aircraft Electrician (Title 32), you will perform the below duties:

(l) Functionally tests, troubleshoots, inspects, adjusts, aligns, calibrates and repairs the entire range of aircraft electrical systems to ensure maximum operating efficiency. Repairs complex power control and warning systems such as, master control panels, analyzing units, master caution panels, voltage regulators, supervisory panels, AC/DC generators, starters, inverters, indicating instruments, linear actuators and utility system control units. Fabricates, repairs and replaces wiring harness, cannon plugs andconnectors. electric motors and modifications as directed by higher authority.
(2) Selects, operates. maintains and repairs specialized test equipment, measuring equipment and common shop equipment such as multimeters, vacuum tube voltmeters, tube testers, oscilloscopes, insulation testers, vary drives, magneto test stands, and electrical equipment test stands. Calibratesand adjusts amplifiers, control boxes, and other equipment that vary voltage,resistance. frequency and load for analyzing various characteristics of electricalshop and test equipment. Must maintain a working knowledge of electrical andmechanical principles as applies to avionics systems to include a workingknowledge of wiring diagrams. blueprints, technical publication and schematics.
(3) Selects. studies. utilizes and updates technical manuals, TWXs, newsletters, MWOs and files in support of functional area of responsibility. Assists with identification and requisition of tools, parts, equipment andbench stock required.
(4) Performs such travel as may be required in the accomplishment of assigned duties and the organizational mission.
(5) Performs on-the-job training as required. Evaluates training effectiveness.
(6) May assist authorized firefighters in the performance of fire/crash/rescue duties as required.
(7) May assist in other functions within the component repair shop in the accomplishment of mission requirements.

As an Aircraft Mechanic (Title 32) (Permanent), WG-8852-10, you will perform the below duties:

1. As an Aircraft Mechanic (Title 32), WG-8852-12, you will perform the below duties:

-- Manages, monitors or performs overall maintenance, servicing, inspections and documentation for one or more highly technical, high performance military aircraft. Performs work in complex conditions under time and/or mission constraints to include all weather and night operations. Works with, coordinates and oversees the work of lower graded aircraft mechanics and certifies the work of journey level workers in other trades working on the assigned aircraft. Performs damage assessments and repairs. Participates in mission preparation and recovery operations. Oversees installation of equipment for special missions. Expedites aircraft operations to include concurrent servicing, refueling, and/or reconfiguration of equipment for changes in operational missions. Performs preflight, thru flight, and post-flight inspections and scheduled or unscheduled maintenance. Serves as the technical authority to identify and advise on requirements for airframe, mechanical, electrical/environmental, avionics, engine, and pneudraulic repairs on assigned aircraft. Works closely with maintenance supervisor(s) and production control personnel to report and maintain current aircraft status.Requests maintenance services exceeding AASF capabilities or time constraints. Controls and performs work assignments based upon priorities, workload, availability of parts, facilities, material and personnel. Coordinates with maintenance supervisor(s) and production control on maintenance requirements to aircraft that require adjustment to changes in operational requirements. Observes and inspects performance of other workers work to insure compliance with applicable technical publications, directives and local policy. Accomplishes operational tests of aircraft systems and components.Oversees ground movement of aircraft. Incumbent launches, recovers, parks and services aircraft. Makes diagnoses and solves malfunctions of aircraft systems and components by utilizing a wide variety of complex, state of the art computerized and/or non-computerized Test Measurement Diagnostic Equipment (TMDE); by studying layout drawings, blueprints and wiring diagrams; and analyzing specifications and operating characteristics of aircraft and their components. Assists AVCRAD/DEPOT level maintenance activities on individual assigned aircraft discrepancies as required.
-- Ensures Unit Level Logistics-Aviation (ULLS-A) and other aircraft documentation accurately reflects status and airworthiness of assigned aircraft. Provides technical guidance and assistance to flight crews regarding observed discrepancies, experienced in-flight characteristics and system malfunctions. Performs or assists in aircrew debriefing.
-- Clears Red X status symbols on aircraft forms for work performed by others. Performs in-process and final inspection of others' work on assigned aircraft and components and certifies by signature adherence to work procedures and quality standards established by applicable publications. Participates in Maintenance Test Flights as a crewmember or Technical Observer (TO), as required. May participate in operational flights as a crewmember or Flight Engineer. Makes decisions on a wide range of matters to ensure assigned aircraft is in the highest state of readiness and that maintenance performed is in accordance with the highest standards of safety, quality and technical compliance.
-- Plans, develops and conducts proficiency training during the technician work week to a multi-faceted workforce comprised of Full Time Support (FTS) and supported unit personnel. Sessions are designed to provide training in techniques of repair and maintenance of aircraft and related equipment. Conducts and certifies proficiency of trainees for additional or increased responsibilities. Evaluates training by observation of performed tasks. Continuously assesses skill level and proficiency of assigned personnel.
-- Prepares for and participates in various types of readiness evaluations, inspections, mobilization and support exercises. Performs such additional duties as structural fire fighting, aircraft fire/crash/rescue duty, security guard, snow removal, munitions loading and handling, maintenance of facilities and equipment or serves as a member of teams to cope with natural disasters or civil emergencies. Travels in military aircraft and drives/operates military vehicles/equipment. Participates in various periods of temporary duty away from the place of assignment, as required.

As an Aircraft Mechanic Supervisor (Title 32), WG-8852-11, you will perform the below duties:

1. Planning: Plans weekly or monthly work schedules and sequence of operations. Establishes deadlines and priorities based on established general schedules, methods and policies. Determines skills, materials and equipment required to do the work. Participates in the initial planning of current and future work schedules and development of budget requests. Provides workload data, estimates, information on staffing needs, and recommendations as the scheduling of projected work.
2. Work Direction: Assigns tasks to be performed. Explains work requirements, methods, and procedures. Instructs subordinates on new procedures or methods and provides assistance on difficult or new problem areas. Reviews work in progress or on completion. Makes adjustments as necessary to effectively and economically accomplish the work. Notes and investigates work related problems and independently implements corrective actions which can be taken without affecting work operations controlled by other supervisors. Assures that equipment and materiel is available when needed. Coordinates work with other units.
3. Administration: Recommends and participates in the selection of personnel to fill vacancies. Schedules and approves leave of subordinates. Sets performance requirements and makes formal and informal performance appraisals. Determines training needs of subordinates and arranges for its accomplishment. Counsels employees on problems.
