Position: Production Development Executive (R&D)

Responsibilities:

• Planning and carrying out R&D activities and projects that comply with food regulations as well as the company vision and mission.
• Create and design new recipes to improve food product from the organization in consideration of ideas and market demand for new products and refine taste profiles through experimentation.
• Improve and revise existing product formulations and processes if necessary to optimize productivity and cost.
• Conduct sensory and shelf-life evaluation for new and existing product samples.
• Participate in pilot tests and production runs until the commercialization of the new or modified product.
• Collaborate with the procurement department to source alternative ingredients.
• Liaise with supplier for new product samples and documents required, such as quotation, product specification, CoA, Halal Cert and etc.
• Collaborate with sales and marketing departments to keep track of consumer needs and competitors’ performance as well as support sales and marketing team by preparing samples for customer trials.
• Provide technical and labelling information with regulatory compliance to related departments.
• Keep a record of all R&D related documents.
• Assist in kitchen / R&D lab equipment handling, maintenance and calibration.
• Get involved in kitchen / R&D lab activities related to 5'S, safety, inventory control and others.

Requirements:

• Possess Degree or Diploma in Culinary / Food Technology / Food Science and other relevant field.
• Possess strong understanding of cultural and culinary trends with full knowledge of culinary art and able to cook like a chef.
• At least 1-2 years of working experience in seasoning, sauce and paste R&D, processing & manufacturing related field with strong knowledge and ability in kitchen / R&D lab management, recipe formulation, food presentation, food safety, food handling and food hygiene.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office & Excel, other relevant software and application.
• Able to manage time efficiently, effective in problem- solving, and having positive thinking.
• Possessed strong analytical and critical thinking skills.
• Familiar with Malaysian Food Regulations and Nutrition Labelling Regulations.
• Possess own transport and willing to travel.

The duties performed by this position may include tasks such as:

• Perform routine biological science tasks common to natural resource management
• Makes field observations of wildlife and natural resources conditions

• Plan and conduct research to develop methods for isolation, modification of alfalfa proteins, and adaptation in food products and edible food packaging as well as ingredients for cosmetic products.
• Isolate and modify proteins and other components from raw feedstock and/or from industry crop processing byproducts.
• Develop new uses for, and new knowledge of, proteins derived from agricultural crops and co-products.
• Characterize alfalfa proteins in their native state, and modify them by applying chemical, physical, enzymatic, or other techniques to impart desired functionalities.
• Develop a fundamental understanding between processing and extent of modification, and subsequent characterization of modified products to understand the performance relationships between process parameters, structure, and functionality.
• Obtain fundamental information on degradation under different deleterious conditions and other physical and molecular properties.
• Study generated protein isolates for their functional properties and performance in targeted applications.
• Use methods and state of the art instrumentation, such as nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy, infrared spectroscopy, ultraviolet/visible spectroscopy, circular dichroism, differential scanning calorimetry, and size exclusion chromatography.
• Apply the principles of Life-Cycle Assessment (LCA) or similar framework to quantitatively assess the environmental and economic sustainability of developed renewable products or technologies and potential benefits.
• Investigate physical processing methods such as milling, steam jet-cooking, and extrusion, as well as enzymatic methods to deflavor isolated protein fractions.
• Develop a stakeholder base to advocate for enhancing research and enable commercialization of products to meet mandated technology transfer objectives.

Major Duties:

At the GS-05 level:

• surveying and monitoring a variety of mammals/owls using standardized survey,
• deploying remote cameras,
• tracking animals using VHF and GPS technology,
• collecting and recording observational data, managing data and equipment associated with bat detectors, wildlife cameras, and telemetry receivers,
• navigating using GPS technology,
• interacting with the public regarding sensitive wildlife management issues,

This position starts at a salary of $139,395.00 (GS-14, Step 1) to $181,216.00 (GS-14, Step 10) with promotion potential to $181,216.00 (GS-14 Step 10).

The Intelligence Research Specialist in this position has program planning, direction, or evaluation responsibilities for the research or collection operations of a major geographical area of a functional program with world-wide implications; and they also serve as Government-wide experts in broad fields of research or operation.

Major Duties include but are not limited to:

• Applying a full range of analytical processes and tradecraft to provide and oversee finished intelligence products in support of operations.
• Guiding and usage of Structure Analytic Techniques (SATs) and analytic tradecraft to address unusual problems, which do not appear to be susceptible to treatment by accepted methods.
• Ensuring that the appropriate intelligence disciplines and methodologies are identified and applied to exploitation of information from a variety of sources to generate intelligence products that reveal the following: potential threat identities, associations, and travel/movements; organizational composition, tactics, techniques, and procedures; and threat activities, chronologies, capabilities, resources, and patterns.
• Applying safeguarding procedures and proper handling techniques when working with classified and sensitive but unclassified information.

-Responsible for planning and accomplishing complete laboratory projects or experiments for the departmental research and teaching laboratories.
-Conceive, recommend and implement new design approaches and devises alternative ways of accomplishing objectives.
-Maintain cognizance of the operating principles as well as the setup, alignment, maintenance and operational procedures for a wide range of scientific components and subsystems.
-Provide technical support, assistance, advice and instruction to faculty and maintains a safe working laboratory environment.
