Major Duties:

This position starts at a salary of $139,395.00 (GS-14, Step 1) to $181,216.00 (GS-14, Step 10) with promotion potential to $181,216.00 (GS-14 Step 10).

The Intelligence Research Specialist in this position has program planning, direction, or evaluation responsibilities for the research or collection operations of a major geographical area of a functional program with world-wide implications; and they also serve as Government-wide experts in broad fields of research or operation.

Major Duties include but are not limited to:

• Applying a full range of analytical processes and tradecraft to provide and oversee finished intelligence products in support of operations.
• Guiding and usage of Structure Analytic Techniques (SATs) and analytic tradecraft to address unusual problems, which do not appear to be susceptible to treatment by accepted methods.
• Ensuring that the appropriate intelligence disciplines and methodologies are identified and applied to exploitation of information from a variety of sources to generate intelligence products that reveal the following: potential threat identities, associations, and travel/movements; organizational composition, tactics, techniques, and procedures; and threat activities, chronologies, capabilities, resources, and patterns.
• Applying safeguarding procedures and proper handling techniques when working with classified and sensitive but unclassified information.

-Responsible for planning and accomplishing complete laboratory projects or experiments for the departmental research and teaching laboratories.
-Conceive, recommend and implement new design approaches and devises alternative ways of accomplishing objectives.
-Maintain cognizance of the operating principles as well as the setup, alignment, maintenance and operational procedures for a wide range of scientific components and subsystems.
-Provide technical support, assistance, advice and instruction to faculty and maintains a safe working laboratory environment.

• Develop and apply statistical theories, methods, and techniques to analyze and interpret data, providing insights and recommendations to support data-driven decision and policy making processes within the organization.
• Design and implement data collection and processing methods, ensuring data quality, accuracy, and relevance to research objectives.
• Design, implement and maintain data pipelines to transform raw data into a common data model, annotate data and metadata with controlled vocabulary terms (indexing), and convert data to graph format.
• Contribute to the development of new methodologies and approaches in the field of semantic technology by sharing knowledge and expertise with colleagues.

This is a temporary appointment intended for seasonal work that is less than 6 months or 1040 hours from the date of appointment/service year. It is expected this position will be terminated upon completion of the seasons work. The agency may non-competitively rehire an eligible temporary seasonal worker in subsequent years who works less than 6 months or 1040 hours in their service year. At management's discretion, this appointment may be extended up to one-year with the possibility of extending an additional one-year.

As a Biological Science Technician your duties will include, but are not limited to, the following:

• Takes and records instrument readings, performs standard tests, collects data, takes measurements and assembles information.
• Assists higher grades technicians with the operation of more sophisticated equipment or equipment systems.
• Assists in biological programs by performing animal husbandry duties for small wild mammals housed in captivity, such as cage cleaning, feeding and watering, as well as providing treatment for minor illnesses or diseases.
• Works as a crew member in tagging and banding projects, fish and wildlife census, surveys, collecting-data etc.
• Individually, or as a member of a crew, performs routine maintenance of water structures, facilities and grounds, cleanup and maintenance, farming, fencing, etc.

As a Biological Science Technician your duties may include, but are not limited to, the following:

• Collects biological samples ensuring correct documentation, reporting, storage, transport, and delivery of samples taken.
• Uses established automated databases to enter, organize and perform preliminary analysis of collected data, using standard statistical methods in preparation of reports.
• Assists biologists in studying and preparing reports on effects to ecosystems from development proposals of local, state, and Federal government organizations.
• Participates in wildlife studies, including carrying out a variety of research and survey methods, analyzing established data, and monitoring environmental elements related to conservation, management, and/or control of wildlife.
• Participates in plant studies, including carrying out a variety of research and survey methods, analyzing established data, and monitoring environmental elements such as temperature, humidity, etc., and how it impacts plant health.

As a Biological Science Technician your duties will include, but are not limited to, the following:

• Assists in planning and execution of wildlife studies, censuses and surveys such as establishing schedules and procedures for accomplishing and reporting the work. Monitors and implement activities related to conservation, management, and/or control of wildlife. Captures, applies visual and radio tags, and gathers physiological and spatial data on wildlife.
• Assists in planning plants surveys and recommends plant management practices. Monitors and assists in control plant disease outbreaks, pest plant control, mowing/seeding activities and vegetation removal.
• Collects, assesses, and organizes biological and physical environment data from field investigations and reports findings to determine actual and potential impact on fish, wildlife or plant resources from development projects, restoration projects or habitat improvement projects.
• Use automated databases to enter, organize and perform preliminary analysis of collected field data, using standard statistical methods in preparation of wildlife and/or botany reports. Analyze and summarize biological data using a variety of database software programs or other presentation approaches, ensuring records are detailed, precise and accurately transferred (e.g., terrestrial, geologic, geographic, hydrologic, ecologic, and environmental data).
• Assist in preparing news release drafts for area media, and/or presenting informational or educational programs to individuals, local organizations, and schools.
• Operates farm tractors, light trucks, vehicles, small water craft and various other equipment such as generators, radios, radio tracking equipment, water monitoring equipment, global positioning systems and cameras. Provides work direction and guidance to biological technicians and volunteers and YCC enrollees, including safe handling of tools and operation of motorized vehicles and watercraft. Collects physiological and demographic data on harvested game at hunter check stations.

Duties include but are not limited to:

• Carries out complex searches providing accurate and reliable information that informs clinical and management decisions, provides context for research efforts and encourages the self-directed learning of VANTHCS staff. Applies expertise to searching multiple health-related databases including, but not limited to MEDLINE, CINAHL, Psyclnfo, Cochrane Collaboration, UpToDate, as well as databases in affiliated fields such as business and the social sciences. Incumbent applies knowledge of the terminology and practices of health care disciplines, including all fields of medicine and surgery, dentistry, nursing, mental health, health administration, pharmacy and allied health fields, to accurately interpret questions and complete reliable and comprehensive searches.
• Performs critical evaluation of citations to identify those that are pertinent to a client's question. Evaluates resources and references, both primary and secondary, for authoritativeness, timeliness, and relevance to specific information requests. Ensures the accuracy and relevance of information provided.
• Applies knowledge of interlibrary loan resources and procedures for hospital libraries to facilitate interlibrary cooperation and the smooth exchange of information in order to provide VANTHCS staff access to a wide range of resources beyond those owned by VANTHCS. Coordinates the activities of a broad and varied document delivery/interlibrary loan system.
• Applies expert knowledge of DOCLINE, OCLC, health sciences databases, and bibliographic control of medical journals to locate and retrieve journal articles, monographs, and audiovisual materials required by VANTHCS staff. Reciprocates service by providing materials from VANTHCS collections requested by staff in other medical libraries.
• Incumbent evaluates the Library's collection to identify gaps in content, select authoritative resources to fill those gaps, and to proactively identify and remove outdated materials from the collection. As a OPERATIONS RESEARCH ANALYST at the GS-1515-14 some of your typical work assignments may include:

• Provides advice and analysis to senior staff and managers within the Joint Staff, Combatant Commands, and Services, regarding operational issues of major importance to the Department of Defense (DoD) for joint capability development and implementation.
• Leads matrixed personnel involved in major analysis, assessments, and evaluations in support of joint capability development and implementation for senior staff.
• Identifying and integrating related projects or initiatives; identifying issues in need of remediation; conducting
  cost benefit analyses; identifying alternative operational approaches to solving future joint warfighting challenges

In this position, you will serve as a Personnel Research Psychologist.
Typical assignments include:

• The development, validation, and administration of cognitive and non-cognitive competency assessments for selection and diagnostic purposes. This includes job analysis, written and non-written tests, job knowledge tests, performance tests, and computer simulations.
• The development and administration of organizational assessments to assess climate and organizational outcomes, including employee climate, customer satisfaction, exit, and custom surveys.
