Join us as a Behavioural Risk & Applied Empirical Science Audit Manager

• In this key role, you’ll be focussing on driving the adoption of empirical scientific research methods within the NatWest Behavioural Risk team and wider Internal Audit sector

What you’ll do

As a Behavioural Risk & Applied Empirical Science Audit Manager, you’ll collaborate with audit experts to understand critical business assurance and sustainability questions. You’ll work closely with a diverse group of talented and accomplished behavioural and data scientists, identifying opportunities for innovation, gathering resources and owning implementation.

You’ll also:

• Guide more junior colleagues in designing feasible research approaches, as well as in executing and interpreting insights
• Develop and manage effective stakeholder relationships and act as first point of contact when leading reviews
• Stay on top of latest applied empirical science methods and applications, as well as analysis and workflow management technology
• Stay at the forefront of empirical social science behavioural insight, sharing knowledge where possible

The skills you’ll need:

We’re looking for someone with extensive relevant technical and research leadership experience. You’ll hold an academic degree in a social science discipline, with a strong quantitative analysis element, or you’ll have a proven equivalent track record.

You’ll also have experience in empirical social science design and execution, covering statistics, causal inference and data science. Knowledge of large-scale business data handling such as databases and SQL would be beneficial, as would an understanding of retail banking, financial markets and code development and quality assurance practices such as Git, GitLab and GitHub.

In addition to this, we’re looking for:

• Enterprise level coding experience including object-oriented programming, ideally using Python
• Experience in drawing conclusions from different primary and secondary data sources
• Clear, concise and compelling communication skills to inspire others, maintain momentum and ensure work completion
• Experience role-modelling, supporting and supervising through coaching, feedback and development
• The entrepreneurial skills, resilience, drive and enthusiasm to develop your skill set and innovate

The Royal High School is one of the oldest schools in Scotland. It has a strong sense of history but prides itself on being very much a school of innovation. It is a non-denominational, 6-year comprehensive, with young people drawn from 4 catchment primary schools: Blackhall, Clermiston, Cramond and Davidson’s Mains.

The school was the subject of a HMIE inspection in December 2022. The Senior Leadership Team (SLT) comprises the Headteacher, four Depute Headteachers and the Business Manager. There is an integrated Additional Support for Learning Team combining the Guidance and Support for Learning teams as well as our Enhanced Support and Wellbeing Bases. The school was refurbished in 2004 and enjoys a high standard of accommodation.

The facilities are used extensively outside of normal school hours by the school and the community. The school is designated a Community Sports Hub and the PE facilities were refurbished in 2015 to support this. There is an excellent extra-curricular programme, with partner clubs and staff offering a range of opportunities in which young people can participate. Due to our rising roll we currently have 6 huts in our playground and a new extension opening Easter 2024.

The school has positive links with parents, local businesses and the local community. The Parent Council and Parent Fundraising Group play an important role in the life and work of the school. What you'll do

As our Head of Group Public Policy Research & Political Risk, you’ll be responsible for driving the development of policy interventions. In doing so, you’ll develop our strategic approach for the use of lobbying governments and politicians across the UK. You’ll be expected to stay abreast of the key political policy areas of the day in order to develop our policy positions across a number of areas.

In addition to this, you’ll be responsible for:

• The horizon scanning of key issues covering policy and political risk
• Identifying any political risks we might face before developing mitigating actions
• Developing research materials to support regional board communications, influencer engagement and the Levelling Up agenda
• Developing simple, accessible materials on our strategy and purpose for external use

The skills you'll need

We’re looking for someone with the ability to deliver clear, well researched materials for external parties covering our strategy. As such, you’ll be able to deal with highly sensitive and confidential materials.

Along with an understanding of our wider strategy, you’ll have the ability to research complex political policies and how they affect us and our customers.

You will also need a contacts book, the desire to build that contacts book and the willingness to engage with politicians and officials on an ongoing and out of hours basis.

About the Role:

We are seeking a Technical Production Manager to join our team for the upcoming festival season!

Working across the company, you will provide production and operational support in the delivery of the organisation’s portfolio of projects with particular focus on our 2024 Festival, to ensure the smooth working of the systems, processes and infrastructure necessary to implement them.

The role involves some evening and weekend work.


About You:

As you would expect in a production role you:


. Will have strong experience in the management of the full project cycle of event project delivery, with outputs including: workshops, shows, interactive exhibitions and other events. You will have experience in delivering events to the highest standard, or be able to demonstrate this ability by discernible transferable skills.

. Will be hands on when required, with good practical knowledge of all production and technical disciplines.

. Will approach this demanding role with a level head and a positive attitude towards problem solving and logistics.

. Will be a natural communicator with strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to negotiating effectively and work extremely hard at building and maintaining relationships.

A driving license and current driving experience are essential.

This role has normal working hours but will require flexibility during the festival lead in and live period, and may include some weekend and evening working.
