About You and This Role:

Dow has an exciting job opportunity for a Senior Research & Development (R&D) Technician in the Reaction Engineering discipline within Core R&D Engineering and Process Science in Freeport, Texas

The Reaction Engineering lab conducts experimental research using automated tubular, fixed bed, and stirred tank systems equipped with various analytical techniques from on-line gas chromatography, in situ Raman and FTIR to heat flow calorimetry. Partnerships with Business R&D and manufacturing provide a consistent flow of new challenging projects across an array of process technologies.
This role is in the Lake Jackson Texas Innovation Center, E.C. Britton building and you will partner with Reaction Engineers and the leadership applying exceptional mechanical skills to conduct research with variety of reactor systems. You will be a self-starter with attention to detail and is eager to learn new areas of laboratory reactors and analytical equipment.

Responsibilities:

• Works as part of a team in a laboratory supporting engineers in developing, screening and commercializing new processes. Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, manage timelines, and interact effectively with numerous team members of diverse background is critical.
• Manages and then safely executes laboratory work requests, building, maintaining, operating and troubleshooting relevant laboratory apparatus and testing equipment and documenting data in Electronic Lab Notebook.
• Develops experimental plans for review/approval by project leader and executes approved plans by performing routine and non-standard tasks or procedures of higher complexity.
•  Achieves project goals using technical, role-specific skills and experience, and introduces new procedures for new instrument methods, equipment changes, or new equipment.
• Develops a specific expertise within the department and laboratory work group in specific procedures, equipment, or instruments.
• Responsible for calibration, safe operation and routine maintenance of simple and complex instruments, machinery, and system components, including production equipment.
• Makes workplace safety the top priority in all activities. Awareness of and compliance with all Dow Safety Standards and Policies is critical for this position.
• Updates personal knowledge for proper use of equipment via manuals and job aids, logs maintenance activities and calibration results as required.
• Communicates scientific observations to project team or principle investigator and organizes and prepares data tables and charts for inclusion in supported studies.

Required Qualifications:  

• An Associate Degree or higher in Engineering and/or Science related field is required.
• In lieu of an associate degree or higher, Dow Chemical will consider those with four (4) + years of relevant military experience and a High School Diploma or GED.
• A minimum of 3 years of experience with chemical/material laboratory or process operations 
• A minimum requirement for this U.S. based position is the ability to work legally in the United States.  No visa sponsorship/support is available for this position, including for any type of U.S. permanent residency (green card) process.

Physical Requirements: 
Must be willing and able to do the following with or without a reasonable accommodation

• Work in environments wearing all task specific safety equipment, such as earplugs, face shields, goggles, steel-toed shoes, and respirators

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience with building experimental rigs consisting of tubing, pressure transducers, mass flow controllers, thermocouples, pumps, reactors, and control valves
• Experience connecting those components to data acquisition systems
• Experience working with lab automation systems such as LabView, Siemens
• Experience in the safe handling of chemicals
• Good mechanical skills
• Proficiency in Microsoft applications (Word, Excel) and ability to learn new software system quickly
• Must have strong multi-tasking, problem solving and time management skills

CAE USA is seeking an experienced software engineer to build and deploy cutting edge cloud-based software products for internal Research and Development and/or Department of Defense contracts.  This position is a flexible hybrid position with location in Arlington Texas.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Qualifications and Education Requirements
