TE’s SG Corporate Technology Center is looking for a subject matter expert in Precision Engineering. TE CTCs are chartered to work with the CTO’s and engineering teams in TE Business Units to identify and develop technologies that deliver broad value to TE products and business operations. Leveraging ecosystem partnerships, you’ll be joining a growing team that focuses on collaborative research with corporate partners, research institutes or academics.
We think the ideal candidate possesses deep knowledge in precision methods for fabrication of metal tooling, conductors & shields, as well as molded/extruded polymers and assembly. Experience with microfluidics would be advantageous, but you may expect to expand towards other areas where it makes sense, such as fine-pitch connectors and wireless solutions. He/she should also have demonstrated success in technology development in an industrial or corporate setting, and is experienced (or interested) with work involving technical management to steer the progress of contracted teams.
Job Responsibilities:
- Engage TE BUs to identify technical areas of interest, leading to collaboration activities that include R&D projects, technology landscaping & consultation.
- Deliver innovation outcomes by advancing initial R&D ideas through technology review, propose scope of work & execution plan, partner selection & subsequent project management to achieve pre-defined technical & business objectives.
- Create a body of knowledge for TE in area of SME by embark on broad technology reviews and authoring technology landscaping reports (patent/journal review, thinktank reports and/or conference visits). Launch proof-of-concept projects as appropriate.
- Administer internal project documentation (charter, TE Project), coordinate compliance matters (legal, procurement, finance), & administer external contracts (NDAs, collaboration agreements), budget tracking and technical documentation. Experience or certification with contract law will be advantageous.
- Supports team on publicity through various channels, such as participating at TE events and presentations to senior management.
Job Requirements:
- Ph.D. / Masters in Mechanical Engineering. Specialization in microfabrication or biotechnology could be advantageous.
- 5-8 years work experience leading technical projects involving design, materials and/or process development in an industrial or corporate setting.
- Experience with precision machining, lithography and packaging/assembly technologies used in microfluidics is advantageous. General knowledge in precision mechanical machining methods such as milling, stamping and etching.
- Knowledge of engineering PjM (scope, deliverables mgmt.) and technical tools (e.g. moldflow, FA, RCA)
- Experience scouting technology state-of-art through literature, patent landscapes, or conferences
- Effective in verbal/written forms communication.
Desirable Qualities:
- Goal-driven and comfortable working through partnerships or interfacing role.
- Comfortable to work and technically curious about a broad range of topics, some of which could be unfamiliar.
- Technically grounded, and business-oriented. Enjoys interacting with other subject matter experts and management opinions to advance project interests
- Able to juggle a portfolio of technical projects and report.
