Do you have great customer service and a good eye for detail and organisation? Are you keen to develop a career in fundraising or expand your communication skills?
About us
With unparalleled collections in the fields of science, technology, engineering, mathematics, medicine and media, the Science Museum Group (SMG) aims to be a leader in informal learning where people of all generations can be inspired by the science that shapes the modern world.
Committed to supporting our mission, the Fundraising and Partnerships department plays a key role in delivering the Group's ambitions, with all our museums undergoing significant projects over the coming years, which require a step-change in income generation. The department consists of several specialist teams, focussing on different areas of fundraising and income generation.
About the role
Interenally, known as Fundraising and Partnerships Executive, you will support the delivery of SMG's vision in securing donations to support the ambitious masterplan of activity and the wider exhibition and learning programmes across SMG.
You will work across two teams in our Fundraising and Partnerships department - the Philanthropy team and the Trusts, Foundations and Government team.
Within this, you will play a key part in the successful delivery of the Railway Museum's Patrons programme. You will focus on developing and implementing donor communication materials, delivering a programme of special events, as well as supporting the Philanthropy team in managing their donor and prospect portfolios.
You will also support the work of the Trusts, Foundations and Government team in stewarding a wide range of funders and securing further support for SMG's existing programme of work across the group of museums.
This 12-month contract can be a great boost for your career, as you will have the opportunity to take as much as you put in. You'll learn the fundamentals of philanthropic and trust fundraising with a focus on how to build great donor relationships. You will also finesse your time management, communication across a range of platforms, and administrative skills.
We offer this role on a hybrid basis, with every Monday and one other day of your choosing in the office.
Salary: £24,000 - £27,500 per annum, depending on experience
About you
Fundraising knowledge or experience is not essential -instead, the skills and attributes you can bring will be of our upmost interest.
You may have built your administration, teamworking and customer service skills in paid work, education, or volunteering in the past, or maybe you have started to work but are ready to try something new and don't know where to start.
As a role focused on your professional development, you will be willing to learn new skills and try new ways of working to support the teams' work. You will enjoy working with people, meeting new people, and building relationships with others who share the ambitions of SMG.
As the role includes creating communications for donors and prospects, you will have great writing skills, able to write for a variety of audiences and communicating important information effectively. You will also have a high attention to detail and an organised approach to your work.
Don't feel you meet all the criteria? We welcome you to apply even if your experience doesn't match directly. With your transferable skills, you could be the right candidate for this, or other opportunities that we have.
