Contract: 12- month FTC.
Pay rate: £16.24- £19.66
Are you a chemistry graduate looking for a role in industry with a world leading chemical company? Do you have experience in an industrial lab research placement or internship and are looking to progress to a full-time contract role? SRG are looking for a research chemist to join a world leading agrochemical company based in Bracknell. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work in multi- disciplinary projects and learn from world- class scientists in the field of Agrochemistry, towards the creation of next generation weed control products.
The ideal candidate would be a chemistry graduate, with solid research lab experience- this can include a placement year, research project or other industrial experience. There are also options for more experienced research chemists to go in at a higher pay rate.
Key Responsibilities will include:
- Synthesis: Execution of safe, sustainable and effective synthetic routes towards target molecules, partnering with support platforms (e.g. automation, purification, analytical) to maximize efficiency. Collaboration within teams to design efficient synthetic routes and troubleshoot to solve synthetic chemistry problems
- Continuous : Build knowledge and expertise in modern synthetic methods and technologies through continuous personal development. Proactively contribute to improvement of laboratory safety, efficiency and ways of working
- Documentation of risk assessments and experimental procedures to the highest standards and scientific accuracy. Objective analysis and evaluation of available scientific data to inform decision
Beyond the key accountabilities, this role offers a number of opportunities for growth through additional skills and specialisms, supported by training and shaped by future development preferences. These include but are not limited to:
- Specialisms within synthesis: Expertise in synthetic methodologies or technologies such as process chemistry and scale up, automation, flow chemistry, photochemistry, electrochemistry, and specialised purification techniques
- Digital skills: Use of digital synthesis tools and data analysis techniques to support scientific work
Candidate Requirements:
Critical Experience, Skills and Behaviours:
MSc or BSc in Chemistry (or a related discipline). Applicants with experience in an industrial or academic research lab environment would be preferred.
- Proficient chemical knowledge and understanding, particularly in synthetic organic chemistry.
- Skilled practical chemist with exemplary safety standards
- Ability to independently plan, organise and prioritise own time to achieve a high level of productivity.
- Ability to work collaboratively as part of a diverse team to achieve project goals.
- Effective communication skills. Able to clearly present scientific results and ideas to colleagues
