We have an active and growing paediatric research unit based within a new, dedicated and purpose-built Children’s Clinical Research Facility (CCRF), which opened in 2018. We employ over 18 research nurses and clinical research practitioners with a portfolio of over 20 research studies currently in the delivery stage. Over recent years, the department has seen a significant expansion of clinical research.

We currently have an opportunity to provide maternity leave cover for one of our existing research nurses. The post will suit an enthusiastic, organised and motivated individual to join us as a Paediatric Clinical Research Nurse, on the CCRF at St Mary’s Hospital. Hours will be full time (37.3hrs) and the post will be funded for 12 months in the first instance. The successful applicant will join a first class team delivering ongoing, ground-breaking paediatric research studies, particularly in the field of children's allergy.

This role involves working closely with medical and nursing staff along with research participants and their families. Central to the role is the recruitment, education and monitoring of patients participating in our allergy clinical research studies. The post holder will be involved in ensuring that any research undertaken within the department safeguards the well-being of the patients, and is conducted within ICH Good Clinical Practice Guidelines for Research.

This position provides the post-holder with the opportunity to work with a very supportive and welcoming team and to further develop your existing knowledge and skills. Prior experience of working in allergy is essential for this role and experience of research within an NHS setting is highly desirable.


• The post holder will support the aims of the Trust and the NIHR in developing both clinical and academic research knowledge and skills to improve the speed, quality and integration of clinical research in the NHS. An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Band 5 Clinical Research Nurse or Practitioner, to join our CCRF team at St Mary’s Hospital, Paddington. The successful applicant will be part of a first class team delivering ongoing paediatric clinical research studies. The Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust’s Hepatology Clinical Research Facility (CRF) for clinical research and investigation is based on the 10thFloor of the Queen Elizabeth Queen Mother Wing at St Mary’s Campus and provides a state of the art, designated area for hepatology academics and hepatology clinicians to perform clinical research projects involving both patients with liver conditions and healthy volunteers.

The postwill specifically help Principal Investigators and the research nursing team with patient recruitment into commercially sponsored clinical drug trials (alcohol, hepatitis, and fatty liver) and the ongoing management of patients according to the study protocols.

In undertaking this role, the Clinical Research Fellow will gain experience in the management of clinical trials and novel therapeutics in chronic liver disease.

The post is initially for 6 months, but will be renewable, and is suitable for a junior grade doctor (FY2 – FY5) who has a minimum of 1 year’s post registration, recent experience of working in the NHS in a medical post, and who is looking to learn and develop clinical research skills.GMC registration and licence to practice are essential.

· Support the timely delivery of clinical studies, in-line with the requirements of sponsors, GCP (Good Clinical Practice), and other appropriate guidelines and regulations

· Provide medical assessment and cover for selected studies in the Hepatology CRF working alongside other clinical teams

Perform clinical procedures as appropriate to the assigned study (including, but not limited to, clinical examinations or testing, insertion of intravenous lines, assessment of adverse events and management of medical emergencies)

· Ensure that patients/volunteers in assigned studies give fully informed consent in writing before commencing a study

The Women’s Health Research Centre (WHRC) at Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust / Imperial College London is at the forefront of research aimed at improving outcomes and experiences in women's reproductive health and childbirth.

At the current time, WHRC is looking to appoint a Clinical Research Assistant Practitioner to work on the Generation Study which is sponsored by Genomics England. The study focuses on screening neonates for approximately 200 rare conditions at birth using umbilical cord blood. We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated clinical research nurse to join our multidisciplinary team within the NIHR Imperial Clinical Research Facility to undertake exciting research in stroke and dementia. You will work with the team to deliver clinical studies investigating the 18kDa Translocator Protein (TSPO) as a drug target for cerebral small vessel disease, the most common cause of vascular dementia, and Alzheimer’s disease. The research aims to address an immense unmet need in the management of vascular brain disease.

The facility is a partnership between Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust and Imperial College London, a world-leading research-intensive university. The unit is a NHS research facility at Hammersmith Hospital in west London. It is located at the heart of one of the UK’s most research-intensive universities, Imperial College. It provides a dedicated, well-equipped and professional environment that enables medical staff and scientists to work together.

We are looking for a motivated, skilful and knowledgeable nurse who works well as part of a team. Knowledge of clinical research is necessary. Strong background of clinical skills (administration of intravenous drugs, phlebotomy and cannulation) is essential.

The unit specialises in commercial and academic early phase clinical studies in various disease areas including respiratory, renal, neurology, oncology and metabolic medicine as well as healthy volunteers’ trials. We host complex and challenging studies and we expect the post holder to adapt to the required flexibility of our portfolio.

Working with genetically modified organism medicines may be part of the activities you are involved in. An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Band 6 Systemic Anti-cancer Therapy (SACT) trained nurse to join our multidisciplinary team within the NIHR Imperial Clinical Research Facility. The unit is a NHS research facility at Hammersmith Hospital in west London. It is located at the heart of one of the UK’s most research-intensive universities, Imperial College. It provides a dedicated, well-equipped and professional environment that enables medical staff and scientists to worktogether to investigate disease and trial the latest scientific ideas for improving diagnosis and treatment.

The CRF provides comfortable clinical accommodation for volunteers and patients participating in studies requiring 24h in-house monitoring as well as facilities for day case visits. It is equipped to cater for complex studies from across the range of medical disciplines and provides close proximity space for clinical research fellows, nurses and allied healthcare professionalsOur portfolio of early phase oncology and haematology studies is increasing and we are therefore looking for a motivated, skillful and knowledgeable SACT trained nurse, who works well as part of a team. Knowledge of clinical research is favourable but not essential.

Working hours are Monday to Friday 8.00-16.00 or 12.00-20.00 or night 19.45-08.15. We are closed over the weekend.
• The aim of this job is to provide best care to volunteers and patients participating in clinical research studies in the Imperial Clinical Research Facility (ICRF) with a focus on oncology and haematology trials.
• You are expected to carry out procedures and investigations on research participants according to study protocol, Trust and local policies. Procedures include administration of Trial drugs, monitoring participants’ progress, continuous assessment of participants’ health, and collecting and processing blood and other biological samples.
• You will also be expected to lead on some studies. This may involve setting up studies with the required documents and approvals, monitor and support recruitment, organise participants’ visits and schedules, and record, report and follow up progress and plans in collaboration with project managers and other staff.. You are expected to supervise nursing staff and allied healthcare professionals assigned to and working on studies you lead on.
• The post holder is expected to remain up to date with Trust and local policies and help support the unit’s quality accounts by continuous auditing and developing standards. The fellowship is available from 02 October 2024 for 6 months.

The elective centre at Charing Cross has been designated a regional Major Revision Centre and handles all the elective practice of Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust. For 50% of the week, candidates will be expected to develop a research project and apply for funding under the supervision of a clinical academic orthopaedic surgeon. It is well recognised that many surgeons wish to pursue a higher degree and secure a grant for their research. This role will enable the successful candidate to develop their applications and research protocols with protected time and guidance, while continuing their clinical training and development.

The aim of the Senior Research Facilitator post is to provide research set-up, management and delivery support to studies undertaken in the Divisions. They will support research studies at various stages, from expressions of interest and feasibility, all the way to regulatory submissions, operational setup and delivery.

They will be responsible for project managing study setup, engaging with research teams, sponsors, clinicians, support departments and managers to ensure that research projects are approved and initiated in a timely manner.
