Key Responsibilities:

• Prepare and set up equipment and materials for science lessons and practical experiments.
• Assist teachers during practical sessions and ensure all health and safety regulations are followed.
• Maintain and organise the science laboratories and prep rooms.
• Manage the inventory of science equipment and chemicals.
• Support the science department with administrative tasks as needed.

Requirements:

• Previous experience working in a school environment is highly desirable.
• Strong knowledge of laboratory equipment and safety procedures.
• Excellent organisational and communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Enhanced DBS on the update service is essential.

We are seeking a talented and dedicated Science Teacher to join a secondary school, starting in September 2024. The successful candidate will have experience in teaching Science at Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4 levels. You will be responsible for preparing and delivering engaging lessons that challenge and inspire students to learn and develop their knowledge of Science.
Your new role
- Planning and delivering high-quality Science lessons that are tailored to the needs of individual students- Preparing and marking homework, coursework, and exams
- Monitoring and tracking student progress and providing feedback to students and parents
- Creating a positive learning environment that promotes student engagement and motivation
- Collaborating with other teachers and staff to create cross-curricular learning opportunities
- Participating in staff meetings and training sessions to enhance teaching skills and knowledge
- Maintaining accurate records of student attendance, grades, and behaviour
What you'll need to succeed
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)- Experience in teaching Science at Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4 levels
- A passion for teaching and a commitment to student learning and development
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Strong organisational and time-management skills
- Knowledge of the current Science curriculum and assessment requirements
- Ability to work collaboratively with other staff members

Main duties and responsibilities:

• Promoting the achievement of high standards through effective teaching and learning within the subject area, preparation, evaluation and action planning.
• Supervision and progress of students in allocated classes.
• Supervision of work of any classroom support staff within allocated classes.

To be successful in this role you will be able to demonstrate the following:

• You should possess the skills and determination to make a significant difference and have a firm love of your subject and a desire to support our young people to reach their full potential.
• Ideally you will have a Computer Science degree; an ability to teach Maths is advantageous but not essential.
• A Teaching qualification together with Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
