- Works with the research leader and administrative officer to manage animal care, nutrition, grazing, and health programs; and supply, feedstock, and chemical inventories.
- Works with the research leader and administrative officer to coordinate fleet, infrastructure, and equipment management plans; and operational schedules.
- Participates as a team member with scientists in the research process and assumes full technical and operational responsibility for specific phases of research programs.
- Determines the methods and materials needed according to the research needs of the scientists involved.
- Operates and oversees maintenance of a wide variety of laboratory and agricultural equipment typically associated with livestock research enterprises.
- As needed, operates a variety of heavy duty on-road and off-road equipment such as tractors, trucks and trailers used to transport livestock to various research sites, snow machines, all-terrain vehicles, etc.
