- Part Time Nights (2 shifts per week, 7pm-7:30am)
- Full Time Nights (3 shifts per week, 7pm-7:30am)
- A series of weekday day shift orientation dates is required for all new Nurse Techs before the regular Part/Full Time Schedule on night shift begins.
About the unit
4West and 9Center are MedSurg Units of Butterworth Hospital.
4 West is a 29 bed unit and 9 Center is a 24 bed unit.
They Care for mainly the General Medical Patient Population, which could be patients with a wide variety of diagnoses, pneumonia, cellulitis, kidney failure, hyperglycemia, Diabetic Issues, Ulcers, Confused Elderly, Alcohol Abuse, Acute/Chronic Kidney Injury, Sepsis, Psychiatric Population.

Scope of work
Nurse Tech responsibilities include taking vitals, checking blood sugars, bed baths, ambulating, wound care, catheterization and acting as a safety attendant for patients. Acts as a team member in the delivery of quality patient care under the supervision of a Registered Nurse (RN) or Provider. Performs basic skills per department guidelines and communicates observations to members of the health care team. This job does not require CNA certification due to the extensive amount of orientation/on the job training provided.
Orientation:
The Nurse Tech role will require 2 days of training in our simulation center and 1 day of EPIC training with our Nurse Educators. These are pre-scheduled and required classes from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m
Monday:
- Day 1 - NT Foundations 1 – 0800-4:30 ALL New Hire NTs are required.
Tuesday:
- NT Foundations 2 0800-1200: ALL NEW HIRE NTS are required.
- NT Basic Skills 1:00-4:30: All new hire NTs unless exempt due to experience. (Exempt - prior recent hospital NT experience, nursing students who have completed at least one clinical rotation)
Wednesday/Friday:
- NT Sterile technique class 08:00-4:30- all except exempt students (Exempt- nursing students who have completed at least one clinical rotation)
3rd week after start date - Monday- 08:00-4:30 Advanced Safety Care-all new hire NTs are required.
Qualifications
- Required High School Diploma or equivalent
- Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification through AHA American Heart Association or American Red Cross is required 90 Days in
