The role:
As a Senior Business Improvement Specialist, you'll have a role that's out of the ordinary. You will form a key role within an energetic and diverse team working to challenging timescales to deliver transformation projects/programmes in different functions and sectors across defence in the UK.
Day-to-day:
You'll have project management focus with a level of responsibility for ensuring projects meet objectives to the correct quality, on time and on budget by applying structured processes and governance to achieve specific objectives.
- Defining and scoping of process improvement projects within the function, and work with specialists and leads to implement improvement plans.
- Analysing business, unit and department process performance, assemble and publish performance reports including providing a commentary on variations and achievements including diagnosing issues and identifying improvement opportunities.
- Leading project activities and day to day management of the projects. Applying a structured approach and process, ensuring the team use the correct tools and techniques to deliver project(s) through the lifecycle.
- Establishing trusting relationships with the business's key leaders and stakeholders, to ensure that there is a free flow of ideas, information and coordinated activity across the project/programme.
- Undertaking of complex and non-routine assignments with minimal supervision and provide support to more junior roles.
This role is full time 35, hours per week and is based on site at Devonport Royal Dockyard.
Essential experience of the Senior Business Improvement Specialist:
- Experience and understanding of project management (preferably PMQ) and the delivery of projects.
- Experience in project management with knowledge of related disciplines e.g. change management and lean working.
- Knowledge and understanding of organisational change models such as Kotter's, Lewin's, 7-S Model, nudge theory etc.
- Experience of analysis of data to provide useful information and insights including performance against plan.
- Ability to work well with small teams as well as a wider groups of stakeholders. Fostering teamwork and collaboration.
Qualifications for the Senior Business Improvement Specialist:
- Qualified to a degree level or be able to demonstrate a career-based knowledge and experience
Must hold one of the following:
- APM Project Management Qualification (PMQ)
- APMG Change Management Foundation
- Lean Six Sigma Green Belt
Security Clearance:
The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain Baseline Personnel Security Standard (BPSS) security clearance for this role.
