Position Summary

The Public Policy Director will lead federal policy related to natural gas supply and infrastructure, natural gas decarbonization (e.g., methane monitoring/regulations, carbon capture and storage), emerging fuels (e.g., renewable natural gas, hydrogen) and related matters that empower Duke Energy to accelerate its clean energy transformation. This includes working collaboratively with Duke Energy business partners to contribute to the company’s overall policy strategy and advancing Duke Energy priorities with key trade associations and coalitions as part of overall advocacy efforts.

The Public Policy Director will need to establish strong working relationships at all levels within key Duke Energy business units – including the company’s regulated electric utilities and natural gas business unit – and collaborate with business partners and across external affairs and communications to identify federal public policy priorities and develop company positions. Additionally, the Director will need to:

• Communicate external developments on the issue set in a timely and understandable manner to business units to effectively manage their strategic issues, business objectives and decision-making process.

• Maintain strong and effective working relationships with key trade associations/coalitions and advocate for company positions or communicate concerns to these groups (e.g., American Gas Association, Edison Electric Institute, Carbon Utilization Research Council, Clean Hydrogen Future Coalition).

• Develop and maintain strong and effective working relationships with other key stakeholders on relevant federal policy (e.g., think tanks and other NGOs/third parties).

• Represent Duke Energy at external forums/conferences to ensure that company policies and positions are effectively communicated and favorably impact the company.

• Anticipate, coordinate and conduct research in support of strategic policy initiatives and review/write analysis of federal public policy and related materials.

• Maintain strong working relationships across external affairs and communications, including collaborating with federal government affairs to support the company’s advocacy on relevant issues.

• Sustain Duke Energy’s culture of collaboration in promoting major strategic initiatives.

• Support the Managing Director of Public Policy in the facilitation of Duke Energy’s clean energy transition to net-zero carbon emissions.

Responsibilities

• Identifying and analyzing global and national opportunities and risks related to policy that have the potential to significantly impact Duke Energy’s bottom line; in coordination with key business units, pursuing clarity on the company’s position, then developing and executing strategic action plans to effectively manage risks and/or promote the company’s interests including leading and supporting cross-functional teams in anticipating, reviewing and responding to federal policy (to include legislation and regulatory rulemakings).

• Producing and executing strategic plans such that the company is deliberate, efficient and effective in its long-term relationships with key external stakeholders, such as industry groups, advocates, peer utilities and others who impact the opportunities and risks.

• Publicly representing and promoting the company and its interests (and/or ensuring appropriate representation, as needed) at meetings of policy stakeholders (e.g., stakeholder forums, panels, industry groups) and ensuring that such engagement aligns with company goals.

• Preparing senior executives for successful engagements with trade associations and other third-party stakeholders on federal policy.

Basic/Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in public policy, Environmental Sciences, Engineering, Business Administration or other related discipline

• In addition to required degree, seven (7) years minimum of related work experience

Preferred Qualifications

• Working knowledge of the utility sector, energy policy trends and issues, and federal legislative and regulatory processes.

• Preferred B.A./B.S. degree in public policy, environmental sciences, natural resources, political science, engineering or business.

• M.S., MBA, MPP or equivalent experience.

The Enterprise Resiliency - Business Execution Group Manager is a senior level (Director) role within the group responsible for the execution of Citi’s enterprise-wide Resilience strategy. This role requires an in-depth and applied experience in leading programs at scale with demonstrated experience in process design and execution, regulatory and executive stakeholder relationship management, enterprise-wide change management, business continuity management and operational resilience implementation in the financial services industry.

The individual in this role is responsible for driving the business & client strategy, new business development, product innovation, client experience, delivery of the financial plans, and maintaining a pristine risk and controls environment for Treasury & Trade Solutions (TTS) in the Central & Eastern Europe (CE5) Sub-Cluster and Hub Managed Countries.

The successful candidate will work closely with TTS Global and Regional stakeholders as well as partners in Banking, Commercial Bank and franchise leaders and will be accountable to the respective  Chief Country Officers for the end-to-end delivery, oversight, and growth of the TTS business.

The TTS  Central & Eastern Europe Sub-Cluster Head will have responsibility for all Corporate, Commercial and Public Sector (CCPS) managed revenue and global client revenue across the 5 presence and 11 non-presence (hub-managed) markets in their sub-cluster, along with oversight on a direct or matrixed basis for all TTS staff within the sub-cluster.

The individual will report directly to the Head of TTS Europe and to the Head of CE5 & Ireland Cluster.

Key Responsibilities:

• Strategic Leadership and Direction: Develop and implement short and long-term strategy for TTS business in CE5 to drive the client agenda, achieve financial growth targets, maximize client and business returns, ensure expansion of market and client wallet share and execute on product capabilities in line with TTS global strategy and cluster objectives.

• Client Strategy: Develop and execute on a client strategy, partnering closely with Banking, Commercial Bank and other relevant partners. Drive customer segmentation, product positioning, pricing, returns and marketing plans for each client segment. Own senior TTS sponsorship for top client relationships.

• Product Strategy: Drive product strategy, execution of key product enhancements, and superior product delivery. Own client experience and work with key partners across Banking Commercial Bank, TTS Sales, Onboarding, Service and Operations.

• Financial Objectives: Create and deliver a multi-year financial plan tied to key drivers and existing and potential customers. Achieve targets set for client revenues, expenses and headcount, as well as appropriate ratios such as efficiency ratios, Return on Assets & RLAP.

• Risk & Controls: Establish a strong risk and control culture across the TTS team. Maintain a pristine controls environment and lead key activities such as regulatory interaction, Issue & Corrective Action Plans management, Manager Control Assessment &  Continuity of Business. Work closely with second and third line partners to ensure strong engagement with TTS.

• Market and Regulatory Advocacy: Formulate strategy around external engagement with appropriate regulatory bodies, market infrastructures, central banks and other industry bodies. Drive Citi’s agenda and desired outcomes.

• Country Management Governance: As TTS sub-cluster head, ensure strong representation in key management and governance committees such as the Country Coordination Committees,  Asset & Liability Committees, Risk and other relevant forums.

• Legal Entity Governance: Ensure close engagement and alignment with Citi Europe Plc to ensure the business in Central Europe is run within the framework of the bank’s legal entity structure.

• People & Culture: Execute on the talent strategy within Central Europe, taking a critical review of organizational requirements and optimum structure. Promote an inclusive and ethical culture, drive diversity and including, and oversee team development plans. Hire talented individuals to deliver the TTS strategy within the cluster.

Knowledge & Experience:

• 15+ years of work experience in the financial services industry, including 10+ years managerial experience

The US Personal Banking (USPB) Marketing Transformation and Delivery (MT&D) organization is responsible for marketing operations, channel delivery and marketing technology in support of the Consumer Bank’s marketing efforts; inclusive of Branded Cards, Retail Bank, Retail Services, Mortgage and Wealth Management.  The Head of Marketing Transformation is a key leader within the organization, responsible for building and leading a multi-faceted team of professionals charged with defining, driving, and commercializing our Transformation roadmap with a focus on radically improving speed to market, operating efficiency, and quality.  The leader will work with cross-functional teams throughout the enterprise to fundamentally reshape end-to-end capabilities leveraging a diverse consultative toolkit and strong facilitation skills to manifest meaningful change.  This job requires an experienced change leader preferably with deep exposure to Consumer Financial Services Marketing capabilities.  He or she should be skilled in driving radical innovation across processes, operating model design, infrastructure, and policy implementation. 

Responsibilities:

• Defining the transformation strategy:  Lead the opportunity discovery efforts to identify target strategic initiatives while working with leadership to help define the longer-term organizational strategy for change.
• Mobilize and drive strategic initiatives:  Scope, mobilize, and drive critical strategic transformation programs with an emphasis on end-to-end change.   Leverage a diverse consultative toolkit and advanced facilitation techniques enabling deep collaboration & partnership with extended teams while accelerating the change management lifecycle.
• Value capture:  Drive articulation of the value of transformation across the Marketing ecosystem and all change programs impacting priority capabilities.  Measure and monitor the impact of change through both operational and financial metrics including improvements in speed to market, campaign agility, and operational risk.

• Risk & Control: Define and drive the evolution of our process-based risk framework ensuring future state design simplifies & standardizes the way in which we operate. Work with partners within and outside of Marketing Transformation & Delivery to ensure the organization meets its Risk commitments (e.g. Issue remediation, etc.)

Qualifications:

• 15+ Years of experience in Financial Services, Marketing, and/or Digital
• 10+ Years of experience leading and driving transformation and/or strategic consulting
• 8-10+ Years of team leadership experience
• 5+ Years in Marketing including strategy, operations, audience management, channel management, content, and/or MarTech
• Demonstrated expertise with a diverse consultative toolkit including process engineering, operating model design, business architecture & infrastructure change, business case development, and change management
• Proven process engineering experience resulting in significant improvements to cycle time, agility, and preventative controls; accreditation in process improvement disciplines a plus (e.g. Lean, Six Sigma, etc.)
• Highly skilled in building, driving, and coaching advanced problem solving & facilitation techniques; added emphasis on structured workshop delivery and program management
• Experience in strategy development roles with a proven ability to develop multi-year change plans, business cases, and storytelling to mobilize senior leadership against a common point of arrival
• Experience with a Management Consulting firm a plus
• Executive leadership skills and demonstrated success in conveying complex concepts, solutions, and relevant business impacts to executive audiences to gain support and drive organizational alignment
• Strong interpersonal skills and demonstrated success in building collaborative relationships with the ability to influence the development and execution of key strategies/initiatives
• Desired exposure to key applications across the MarTech ecosystem e.g. Aprimo, Adobe, Salesforce Marketing Cloud, and/or Naehas

Education:

• Bachelor’s/University degree, Master’s degree preferred and managerial experience
