SUMMARY

The Junior Finance Consultant will support a federal client in Washington, DC area with Capital Planning and Investment Control (CPIC) and general financial management.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Essential duties and responsibilities include the following.  Other duties may be assigned.

Conducts research on financial processes, provide recommendations on changes, and write standard operating procedures.

Supports project management for major Agency IT investments.

Develops spend plans and analysis of spending.

Develops finance PowerPoint decks and one-page memos on various topics.

Plans daily activities within the guidelines of company policy, job description and supervisor’s instruction in such a way as to maximize personal output.  

Responsible for aiding in own self-development by being available and receptive to all training made available by the company. 

Responsible for keeping own immediate work area in a neat and orderly condition to ensure safety of self and co-workers. Will report any unsafe conditions and/or practices to the appropriate supervisor and human resources. Will immediately correct any unsafe conditions as the best of own ability.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE

Bachelor's degree and a minimum of two (2) years’ relevant experience, or equivalent combination of education/experience.

Must be able to obtain a customer clearance for access to facilities, equipment and property. (Public Trust)

JOB SPECIFIC KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES

Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, and Excel)

Excellent verbal and written communication skills. 

Ability to work independently or in a team environment with flexibility.  

Possess analytical, problem-solving and critical thinking skills. 

Ability to clearly and concisely communicate/explain information to a broad range of people with varying levels of expertise.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read, analyze and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers and the general public.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to add and subtract two-digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10's and 100's. Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume and distance.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form.
