Job Description
The Montgomery College Workforce Development and Continuing Education Department is currently accepting applications for a non-credit, contract-based position to teach and facilitate Wills and Estates classes to college students and working adults. We are seeking enthusiastic and dedicated teachers who exhibit a high degree of professionalism, a strong commitment to our students, and the ability to motivate and educate in an engaging manner.

Duties and Responsibilities:
- Teach/facilitate classes – Wills and Estates class/classes in the Summer Semester 2024 and the future semesters. Classes are delivered online via Zoom and in person -- daytime and in the evenings.
- Cover topics in the Wills and Estates class: differences between wills and revocable trusts; a power of attorney and health care directives; what it means to go through Maryland probate; the use of revocable living trusts; the pros, cons, and dangers of joint ownership, and the impact of the Federal estate tax and Maryland taxes on your estate.
- Develop curriculum, demonstrate concepts and skills, engage students in hands-on activities and exercises; and manage the classroom.
- Take attendance and post attendance grades.
- Apply culturally relevant and empathetic strategies to the teaching and learning process.
Required Qualifications:
- J.D. Degree.
- Two years experience delivering courses in Wills and Estates.
- In-depth knowledge of the subject matter.
- Ability to integrate technology into course delivery. Experience delivering training on Zoom.
- Ability to teach in a multicultural setting and effectively manage a classroom.
- Successful candidates will have a demonstrated commitment to promoting diversity, inclusion, and multicultural competence in an educational and work environment and must be willing to contribute to the Colleges strategic plan of inclusion.
- Faculty members are expected to have access to a personal computer with virus protection that can connect to the internet outside of the work location (i.e., office, classroom, college campus)*. Montgomery College (MC) provides an MC e-mail account and access to the learning platform, password-protected faculty sections of the website, college listservs, and other faculty communications tools. *If you do not have access to a personal computer, please notify the department chair at the time of interview. Subject to available funds, the college may be able to provide temporary access to resources.
