Key Responsibilities and activities Working with the Business Manager play a leading role in the overall business support of the Cancer Alliance. Enhance SWAG Cancer Alliance patient experience and outcomes by helping to deliver efficient and responsive business management. Contribute to service planning and development including the preparation of business case and plans. Effective communication and stakeholder management with a range of organisations and individuals, drafting correspondence and papers and ensuring the management of specific tasks, lead reporting and analysis across a range of specialties, functions and activities. Work with the senior management team, NHS England Regional Assurance Team and the National Cancer Programme Team to ensure the objectives of the Long-Term Plan for Cancer are achieved through strong business support activities. Assist with the planning and assurance/reporting processes. Proactively devise and provide improvements to current management information, analysing, reporting, and suggesting procedures to enhance decision making processes. Support development and implementation of the communications plan including annual reports and newsletters. Develop, implement and maintain departmental policies and guidelines. Skills/Experience Knowledge and proven track record of health service management, including business management and communications (essential). Knowledge and experience of the national context and strategy for cancer (desirable). Good information management and IT skills, including common software packages (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Access, design software Canva) (essential). Experience of project management including key stakeholder engagement (essential). Experience with finance systems and budget management including procedures for procurement and for invoicing (essential). Management experience, including experience of staff training, staff supervision, sickness management, appraisal, prioritisation, and allocation of workload (essential) Excellent planning and organisational skills to enable the post-holder to complete own workload in an efficient and effective manner; to delegate work as required and to make adjustments to people and processes where necessary; and to ensure that the resources within the department are used effectively to ensure delivery of service that meets user needs (essential)

Your key responsibilities will include: Provide support on contract and agreement matters, business operations and diagnostic output monitoring to the laboratory management team and members of the divisional office. Ensure Specialist Microbiology Services Network Managers and Laboratory Management receive appropriate contract management, business operations and diagnostic output monitoring support; this involves working closely with the Microbiology Network Managers and Laboratory Management Teams in the provision of appropriate information. To support the production of contracts, activity reports, diagnostic outputs and business reporting and support the maintenance of a monitoring systems and agreements databases. Support ensuring those NHS contracts and reports submitted for review are compatible with the standard NHS contract clauses and strategic objectives and highlight issues including financial, safety and quality impacts. Provide information and support to the SMS Operations lead on all aspects of activity data including data collection and validation relating to regular outputs such as the regional activity indicators, and monitoring and analysis of such data. Assist the Head of Operations in the establishment and maintenance of robust systems and processes for administration, risk management and business support across the division. Assist the Head of Operations lead in undertaking any necessary analysis of financial and management information in accordance with corporate policies and procedures. Comment on, propose changes and support in the implementation of policies and procedures used by the laboratory (in relation to Business Management). Support for the monthly invoicing of NHS contracted work for NHS customers. Respond to internal and external customer inquiries/ problems regarding invoicing. To keep up to date on developments within UKHSA and to identify and assess and inform the Specialist Microbiology Services Network Managers and the SMS Operations lead about developments in the NHS and Public Health Community. Assist in the development of business cases submitted to the SMS Divisional Office. Provide general administrative and financial support to the Laboratory Office. Attend key operational meetings. General: Be the first point of contact for regular givers/legacy enquirers and corporate partners. Respond to enquiries promptly and in a professional manner including responding to emails and telephone queries, providing all the highest level of supporter care. Continually research, cultivate and develop strong relationships within this fundraising income stream and lead best practice in database management. To meet agreed financial targets and KPIs across existing income streams. Working closely with the Data Insight Officer, provide colleagues with detailed updates on the Charitys income and data collection through regular reports. Ensure that all cash handling, banking, donor acknowledgement and receipts are kept in accordance with charity best practice. Keep up to date on all new governance regulations issued by the Charity Commission, Fundraising Regulator and Information Commissioners Office. Maintain and develop key relationships with stakeholders individuals and organisations. Support and deliver the activity within the staff engagement programme so that NBT staff become proactively and enthusiastically involved in the charity. Analyse performance/trends, implement remedial/developmental actions and provide reports to senior leadership team. Achieve and report on financial targets, objectives and KPIs. Utilise data insight to drive decision making and improve performance and return on investment. Fundraising: Support the delivery of a corporate fundraising strategy that drives growth and significantly increases corporate income through both securing new partnerships and providing exceptional account management. Support the Philanthropy and Partnerships team to manage and develop the Charitys individual giving and mid-level donor programmes. Provide administrative support to the Philanthropy and Partnerships Manager across all large fundraising streams. Ensure all legacy enquiries and pledges are acknowledged appropriately and stewarded. Support and develop our regular giving programme. Deliver a mid-value programme working closely with the Philanthropy and Partnerships Manager on donor uplift strategies. Conduct prospect research for our corporate, trust and major donor programmes. Write detailed case for supports and proposals to encourage mid-value gifts from our current donor pool and new prospects. Plan, organise and develop cultivation events to lift the Charitys profile with P&P supporters. Analyse and segment existing donors to deliver appropriate, quality personalised tiered stewardship which deepens relationships and increases loyalty and value. Work collaboratively with the charity team and NBT colleagues to develop in-depth knowledge of services/projects and gain access to quality information/data to strengthen proposals and report our impact. Utilise the database to maintain accurate information and drive activity. Analysis and evaluation of data to facilitate continuous improvement of performance. Work with colleagues to identify prospects via our supporting our grateful patients and community fundraising activities. Proactively support the activity of the legacy fundraising programme.
