SUMMARY: This location is part of our Prepared Foods Division and manufactures bacon! The Food Safety Quality Assurance General Manager is responsible for the daily management of all activities of the FSQA department to include food safety programs specification adherence and product quality for products within their assigned facility. In addition, the FSQA Manager will oversee all special projects as assigned, departmental budgets, turnover and safety.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Production Oversight:
- Manage daily production practices, including the reception of raw materials.
- Ensure pre-operational and operational sanitation standards are met.
Quality Assurance:
- Oversee finished product quality and Food Safety Systems.
- Implement and enforce Tyson FSQA policies and procedures.
- Monitor verification and documentation for compliance with government regulations.
Program Development:
- Develop, implement, and maintain HACCP, HARPC, SOP, GMP, and SSOP programs.
Product Conformity:
- Ensure finished products align with customer specifications and label requirements.
- Report product issues and audit results to relevant stakeholders.
Customer Interaction:
- Interact with customers and their agents for product showings, plant tours, and audits.
- Address initial product runs and respond to quality-related customer complaints.
Microbiological Monitoring:
- Monitor microbiological results and conduct bacterial swabs.
- Generate shelf-life environmental graphs.
Research and Development:
- Conduct research and development activities to enhance food safety and quality.
Team Management:
- Select, train, and manage FSQA Supervisors and Technicians.
- Facilitate both Food Safety and Foreign Material teams at the plant.
Audit Management:
- Complete required internal, regulatory, and customer audits.
Inventory Control:
- Manage Hold Release inventories at the plant level in SAP.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Education: Requires broad knowledge in general professional or technical field. This knowledge is normally acquired through a bachelor s degree in an academic field directly related and essential to the job.
- Experience: Minimum 3 years of prior industry experience to fully grasp regulatory, production and manufacturing concepts preferred. Experience with FDA and USDA regulated products. SAP Experience a plus.
- Computer Skills: Standard computer skills required; generating spreadsheets and developing templates for use by plant management and corporate FSQA, sales and operations.
- Communication Skills: Excellent communication skills required, both written and verbal, demonstrating the proven ability to correspond with all levels - line team members to corporate management.
- Special Skills: Must have good problem identification and problem-solving skills. Must be able to work independently yet interact with many different facets within the organization and be the plant liaison to USDA. HACCP Certified, PCQI Certified and SQF Certified preferred.
- Supervisory: Manage crewing labor and attendance of the FSQA department.
- Travel: 3-5 plus trips per year.

• No suspension on record for the last 12 months
