The Quality Assurance Specialist (Recorded Products) serves as an authority on the artistic. technical, and human factor elements required for controlled production of spoken word recordings, formulates and maintains quality control objectives for the various contracts with recording studios and multistate centers to insure continuous production of digital recorded books and magazines for the National Library Service.
This position requires elevated IT access to systems to perform the work of the position. This position requires a Public Trust background investigation at the Moderate risk level. Audits master digital recordings. for adherence to NLS standards and specifications. Certifies the quality acceptability of all audio material produced for the NLS program.
The incumbent performs electronic inspection and aural review of each narrated tape to assure sound quality. effective interpretation of the text, correct pronunciation and vocal presentation: prepares written critiques on the results of each inspection. Provides guidance and coordinates contractor and multistate center personnel related to the development of quality assurance programs and procedures, establishes programs to evaluate the precision and accuracy of Incoming materials; develops and initiates methods and procedures for inspection, testing, and evaluation of contractor recording facilities and equipment and prospective narrators. As a staff specialist, develops, organizes. administers. evaluates, and coordinates a comprehensive computer software quality assurance program or programs for the assigned quality assurance area.
Applies electronic data processing techniques and equipment to tabulate and analyze quality assurance statistics. related to reliability of each source of narrated material. Develops, organizes, administers, evaluates, and coordinates a comprehensive materials and processes quality assurance program or programs for the assigned quality assurance area. Develops, organizes, administers, evaluates, and coordinates a comprehensive electronics quality assurance program for the assigned quality assurance area.
Reviews contractor's quality control plan, technical procedures. and practices to assure adequacy. Negotiates and coordinates issues pertaining to the electronics quality assurance program area. Prepares administrative reports, studies for appropriate personnel and documents related to work assignments or developmental activities conducted under broad supervisory guidance. Compiles and writes correspondence, manuals, specifications, instructive materials and articles for various publications relating to quality assurance of audio and digital materials.
