Fixed Wire Testers

Fixed Wire Testers are needed for mobile roles for our client who is a large electrical compliance company

A van, PDA and a fuel card and full kit is supplied by our client and the basic salary is 36k + a good bonus scheme, the OTE is 42k minimum for this role and the these roles are permanent positions

Overtime will be available and our client supplies the following- Pension, Paid Holidays and Bank Holidays, Test Equipment, Van (Fuel card and personal use included), Phone & Laptop, Uniform, PPE and Hotels booked and paid for and evening meal and breakfast paid

Bonus Scheme- Weekday KPI target - 45 circuits per day / 225 per week (both to be achieved) and bonus after KPI is hit at £2.80 per circuit and Weekend circuit rate - £3.50 per circuit

It is essential that any candidates meet the following criteria, 17th or 18th Edition, and C&G Electrical qualifications such as for example NVQ level 3 or equivalent and a testing qualification such as 2391/4/5 with experience of testing and inspection

What experience will you need as our new Quality Inspector?
We're open to considering your application whether you're relatively early in your career as a Quality Inspector, or perhaps you're more experienced and you're interested in taking on more of a Quality Lead role.

Either way, you’ll be an experienced Quality Inspector, comfortable completing first offs and in-process inspections, carrying out first article and final inspections against drawings to precision tolerances.

You’ll probably have more than two years’ experience of working as a Quality Inspector but if you have the skills already in less time, then we'll welcome your application too.

You'll have had some exposure to handling non-conforming parts, and it would be great if you have experience of producing non-conformance reports, working very closely, and regularly meeting with, customers to work through engineering challenges together.

As an experienced Quality Inspector you’ll know this already but to be clear, you’ll be confident in using a range of precision inspection tools to check dimensions of machined metal components to include gauges, micrometers, vernier calipers, microscopes, shadowgraphs, CMM and similar equipment. You don't need to know how to program a CMM because we have people who do, but you will need to be able to use one confidently. Depending on the level you join us at, you may also be spending more time working closely with our Directors on Quality Management Systems, processes and documentation, carrying out non-conformance investigations and reporting, and working with our customers to overcome engineering challenges together.

Job title: Quality Inspector
Location: Tewkesbury, commutable from Worcester, Gloucester, Cheltenham, Stonehouse and surrounding areas.
Working hours: 39 hour working week, day shift, early finish on Fridays, overtime readily available.

With a focus on Quality, you will take responsibility for the management of a team of Quality Engineers, Inspectors, Packing, Despatch and Warehouse Operators, the EHS Officer and Laboratory Technicians within a busy metalshop environment.

Job Responsibilities:

- To ensure that the correct controls and documentations are in place to ensure product quality, integrity and traceability:Quality Planning, Quality documentation and storage, on-time delivery, training for inspection methods and techniques, visual conformance guides, inspection equipment and product handling, ALL in accordance with the requirements of ISO9001.
- To lead the Quality team in the execution of the business strategy to include developing and continuous improvement of Quality activities in order to enhance manufacturing and business processes. - To Maintain an effective and relevant documentation system that is reviewed on a regular basis to ensure content is current and applicable
- Manage and collate accurate product defect data (internal scrap) and provide weekly reports, working closely with the production teams to resolve these issues.
- To ensure internal audits are conducted to a pre-determined plan and any subsequent findings are closed within a timely manner and to manage all external quality related audits.

Requires of You:

- Applicants should hold a degree in an engineering related discipline, or a lower level qualification which is supported with relevant engineering experience.
- Experience as a Quality Manager within an Engineering or Manufacturing environment is absolutely essential.
- Previous experience of successfully leading a team from which you will have gained the ability to prioritise and organise team tasks effectively, and to motivate and develop team members

The Role


As a QC Inspector you will be responsible for:

Supervising welding processes on site
Performing weld inspections
Assuring site compliance with the relevant quality standards
Reviewing welding quality documents
Training the welders on the job, making sure good practices are followed.


About You


To be successful in the role you will possess the following:

A minimum of 3 years’ experience in a similar role.
Current recognised International Welding Inspector qualifications or CSWIP3.1 or equivalent.
An ability to liaise at all levels with the Client and Subcontractors and ability to work as part of a team.
Demonstrated written communication and IT skills (including Excel, Word).
Competent in reading and interpretation of complex or simple fabrication drawings, WPS and ITPs.
Knowledge and understanding of FCAW, GMAW, SAW, and GTAW welding processes
Experienced and familiar with ISO and AS/NZS weld symbols.
Previous experience with SMP fabrication or construction.
Knowledge of Australian standards relating to structural steel, pipe and welding.
Self-discipline and work ethic to operate efficiently within a team or autonomously.
Solid communication skills to work through issues and negotiate win/win outcomes.
