The role
As a Senior Quality Engineer, you'll have a role that's out of the ordinary. We are looking for a Senior Quality Assurance Engineer to support the Surface & Air Portfolio Quality Manager & Manufacturing Quality Assurance Manager in the production facility at CWEW, Devonport. Potential to assist other areas within Mission systems, ensuring delivered product meets the customer requirements for Quality, Cost and On Time Delivery. This will be realised through an audit programme, documentation review and clearance, supporting lean initiatives and root cause investigation and subsequent preventative action.
Day to day, you'll comply with the organisation's quality policies, plans and procedures, as well as:
- Represent the customer's interests and help to maintain the open and collaborative relationship we have. Speak regularly with the customer quality representative.
- Work closely with the Bidding team to ensure the correct adoption of Quality requirements, including capability and resource requirements and associated costs.
- Guide project management and engineers throughout the life cycle to ensure the achievement of specification, in a timely and cost-effective delivery of products and services to our customers.
- Develop strong customer relationships, so that organisation growth opportunities are supported with a quality, value driven approach.
This role is full-time, 36 hours per week, based at Devonport Royal Dockyard with a hybrid working arrangement of 2-3 days per week working from home.
Essential experience of the Senior Quality Engineer:
- A proficient quality assurance engineer with experience in a related industry and be familiar with how quality applies throughout a product or service delivery lifecycle.
- Previous customer-facing roles or experience is beneficial.
- Experience of implementing quality improvements and encouraging culture change within a team or organisation.
- Experience of auditing quality ISO9001 management systems.
- An excellent working knowledge of quality tools and problem-solving techniques, and be able to provide guidance to others in their use (e.g., Pareto, FMEA, 5 why's, 8D, etc.)
- Knowledge of continuous improvement tools and able to give examples of how you have used them in previous situations.
Qualifications for the Senior Quality Engineer:

Please note that this position is subject to national security vetting. The successful candidate must be a sole UK national who is able to satisfy Ministry of Defence ITAR security requirements for this role (this will include obtaining SC level of security clearance).
