The Opportunity…
At Hinkley Point C (HPC), we are building two new nuclear reactors, the first in a new generation of nuclear power stations in the UK, that will provide low carbon electricity for around six million homes.
We are looking for a HPC Trade Control Compliance Officer, who will be a key part of HPC export compliance support and work closely with the Export Control Group (ECG).
You will be embedded in the HPC Project, and sit in the Engineering team, supporting and ensuring HPC’s compliance with local and international trade restrictions, including export controls and sanctions.
In your role, you will deal with queries from all levels of the business and act as a key interface between the Project and the ECG. You will develop training to be cascaded down through the Project, supporting applications for and compliance with Export Control licences across the business, and maintaining records of the Export Control licences, End User Undertakings (EUUs) and other relevant information, to ensure that the Project can fulfil its regulatory record-keeping requirements.

What you’ll be doing…
- Acting as a key interface between HPC and the ECG. Monitoring compliance with Export Control legislation, assuring HPC Supply Chain Export Control compliance and ensuring a consistent approach to managing Export Controls across the Project and SZC.
- Implementing specialist training on Export Controls for key individuals, including senior leadership, the HPC Export Control compliance team and high-risk staff across the business.
- Working with key suppliers and internal stakeholders to align and standardise markings of Export Control Technology for consistency of approach across the Project and reducing error traps.
- Working closely with IT, InfoSec and the ECG group to develop processes around access decisions to HPC IT systems.
- Tracking Export Control enquiries; reviewing Export Control licence questionnaires and determining licence routes; making and managing licence applications and liaising with licence requestors; issuing licences and compliance packs.
- Working collaboratively with the Project and other relevant business units and providing advice to prospective licence holders / end user undertakings (EUU) signatories regarding their responsibilities as licence holder / signatory.
- Managing the Management Information System (e.g. PowerBI).
- Reviewing compliance with Export Control Licence Conditions periodically e.g. via a system of audits and reviews to ensure execution of trade compliance standards.
- Reporting regularly to the Risk and Audit Sub-Committee in respect of Export Controls compliance across the Project.
