What will you be doing as a Quality Technician?

• This role requires the candidate to have a high level of accuracy and strong attention to detail
• Working with authorising and checking compliance against products and devices
• Working within product specification, batch codes, product serial numbers and cross referencing product information against items ready to manufacturer and dispatch
• Testing of such products and carrying out quality control on signing off on product specifications
• Communicating with suppliers across UK and Europe
• Putting items into quarantine whilst under inspection and investigation
• Liaison with warehouse and customer service staff

Senior NPD Technologist (MEAT)

Based at our state-of-the-art head office and distribution centre on the outskirts of Preston, James Hall & Co. Ltd. have been

About the Role

We have a fantastic opportunity for a Senior Product Development Technologist to join the NPD team at James Hall & Co. Ltd,
Preston. The role is perfect for someone looking to develop their experience in meat-based NPD. Working as part of a busy NPD
department, the successful candidate will support in the delivery of new and existing product development of our portfolio of
cooked meats, bacon & raw meat.



Here’s What You Can Expect to be Doing

The responsibilities of this role involve supporting the product development process from concept to launch, ensuring all tasks
are carried out in compliance with SPAR & James Hall policies and industry standards. This includes coordinating various stages of
development, collaborating with cross-functional teams, and ensuring the successful delivery of new products.

Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

* Supporting the NPD manager and team in developing new products in line with SPAR & James Hall policies.
* Organising, running, and documenting benchmarking exercises.
* Liaising with suppliers for new raw materials and packaging.
* Evaluating raw materials in line with legislation to ensure safe product launches.
* Leading and documenting factory trials.
* Organising and overseeing controlled taste panels.
* Completing NPD documentation and Gate process documents.
* Testing and validating products throughout development.
* Checking and approving artwork proofs.
* Supporting Production, Technical, and Trading departments for smooth product launches.
* Conducting meetings with relevant stakeholders.



A Few Things About You

* Demonstrable experience in an NPD or Technical department or meat-based Production department.
* A degree in Food, Food Science, Nutrition, or a related field is preferred.
* Strong understanding of food legislation.
* Knowledge of microbiological issues and ability to interpret laboratory results.
* Excellent planning, organisation, and documentation skills.
* Flexibility to accommodate trial work when necessary.
* Ability to work independently while also contributing effectively to a team.
* Keen attention to detail, with strong grammar and spelling skills.
* Clear communication skills and ability to engage with staff at all levels.

Duties will include, but not be limited to: To complete daily validation of 18 Weeks/RTT PTL database, update QCPR and identify and escalate risks to compliance. Validate 18 weeks breaches for admitted and non-admitted patients and update QCPR where necessary. To identify inaccuracies, inconsistencies and gaps in RTT data collection. Correct data and support operational staff in improving their understanding of the data collection processes. Plan and lead meetings with colleagues and staff in other departments as required. Charitable Fund Champion: Monitor and reconcile the Trust's Charitable Funds system, overseeing the production of monthly management accounts and quarterly committee papers. As our Facilities Compliance Manager, you will provide effective compliance, and performance business services for the Directorate, setting and supporting the performance measurement agendas, ensuring the compliance needs of the Directorate, statutory and mandatory requirements etc. are measured and met to agreed deadlines.
