We are looking for an enthusiastic, highly motivated, and experienced clinical pharmacist with demonstrable skills in Antimicrobial Stewardship and Infection Management to join our pharmacy team. The post holder will be part of the wider clinical pharmacy team providing pharmacy services to patients across all disease groups and be responsible for leading and further developing the Antimicrobial Stewardship strategy and initiatives within the Royal London Hospital. The postholder will work in collaboration with the infection control team and consultant microbiologists in addition to the different multidisciplinary teams across the Trust.

The post holder will be accountable for the delivery of specialist clinical pharmacy services relating to Antimicrobial Stewardship National and Local guidance, supporting education and training to all healthcare professionals to ensure effective use of antimicrobials. The postholder will have an integral role within the MDT team and contribute to service delivery, new initiatives and development / review of drug protocols including new NICE initiatives.

We are looking for a band 7 Patient Safety and Compliance Co-ordinator to join our team for a fixed term of 12 months. This post will sit within the Trust patient safety team within the Quality Governance department. The aim of this post is to provide patients with outstanding services from the Pharmacy Technical Services MS licenced units ASU (Aseptic Services Unit), Chemoteraphy Services Unit (CSU), Packagin Services Unit (PSU) and Quality support to Radiopharmacy and Nuclear medicine unit (RPU). The post holder will provide professional and technical supervision to the GMP manufacturing units, working with other department in these units to ensure all activities comply with current clinical, GMP, GCP and Quality guidelines


The post holder will work within the Quality Assurance team, focusing (but not limited to) on elements of the QMS (including the documentation system), as well as Micro and QC support such as environmental monitoring, laboratory practices and testing, and releasing of products manufactured under the MS licence, whenever required.

Senior Specialist Biomedical Scientist Quality Officer (Clinical Biochemistry)

An exciting opportunity has arisen in Blood Sciences within the NHS East and South East London Pathology Partnership (ESEL). The NHS East and South East London Pathology Partnership is an arms-length organisation providing pathology services to Barts Health NHS Trust, Homerton University Hospital NHS Foundation Trust and Lewisham and Greenwich NHS Trust. The Pathology Partnership is hosted by Barts Health.
The Pathology Partnership is based on well-established models for pathology networks, with the Royal London Hospital becoming the main hub laboratory for the network and Essential Service Laboratories (ESL) as a minimum at all other Hospital sites.
Pathology is made up of the following services - Blood Sciences including Haematology, Blood Transfusion and Biochemistry; Infectious Diseases including Microbiology and Virology; Cellular Pathology including Histopathology, non-gynae Cytology and mortuary services; Immunology; Cytogenetics and Molecular Haematology; Immunophenotyping; Clinical Transplantation and Retinoblastoma.
The 2020/21 total operating costs across the Partnership were c. £126m per annum with a workforce establishment of circa. 822 WTE. Senior Specialist Biomedical Scientist – Blood Transfusion Quality Officer

An exciting opportunity has come up within the East and South East London (ESEL) Pathology Network, for an enthusiastic Quality Lead who shares our vision of a high-quality transfusion service and invite applications from suitably qualified and experienced Band 7 Biomedical Scientists, or a Band 6 already with experience of fulfilling a Quality Lead role and is keen to move their career in that direction.

The successful candidate for the role of Quality Lead must possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to organise and motivate staff. They will be responsible for the implementation, development, and management of the quality management system for the Blood Transfusion departments within ESEL as part of a team of 3 Blood Transfusion Quality Leads.



We are looking a candidate with extensive knowledge and experience of working within a Pathology laboratory. Previous experience of method or equipment validation/verification, familiarity with the requirements of ISO15189 and working within the regulatory requirements of Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency (MHRA) is essential. The successful candidate will possess the investigative and presentation skills required to lead on all aspects of quality assurance, both internal and external, across the Blood Transfusion service, with the aim of maintaining standards for UKAS accreditation and other appropriate accreditation and regulatory requirements e.g., Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency (MHRA).

The post-holder will be required to manage the day to day running of the quality management system within Blood Transfusion and be familiar with risk management processes, incident investigation and management processes, performing trending analysis and producing regular performance and compliance reports for Blood Transfusion, Pathology and service meetings.



The successful candidate will be provided post related training, and support for the identification and trending of errors and adverse events, implementing effective corrective and preventative actions to improve safety and quality.

The post holder will be responsible for the systematic identification, recording, evaluation of risks arising from non-compliance with statutory legislation relating to buildings, plant, services and equipment and implementation of maintenance regimes to minimise the Trust exposure to those risks and identified within the Parameters of the Premises Assurance Model (PAM)

This would include interpretation of the current and any new legislative changes including the development of Technical and Health and Safety Policies and Procedures within the Estates Environment



To facilitate and co-ordinate the work necessary for external assessments by the Health & Safety Executive (HSE) and other external bodies such as the CQC/NHS England and make the annual submission on evidence-based documentation.
