Head of Procurement New senior leadership role to deliver strategic category strategy Our client is seeking a seasoned senior leader to join them as a General Manager - Procurement, reporting to the CFO. This is a rare opportunity for the QLD market, where you will have oversight of a large and varied corporate spend, and assist in establishing new category teams. Key responsibilities include:

Maintaining a high standard of procurement and contracts management across a diverse portfolio, including, ICT, services, fleet, governance and risk
Implementing and maintaining a cohesive workplace culture, fostering and supporting your extended team to deliver commercial outcomes while growing their career
Anticipating and mitigating supply chain risk, securing continuity of supply across your extended supply chain
Leading key commercial negotiations and ensuring true partnership is achieved with your suppliers
Providing a high level of stakeholder engagement with internal customers, and demonstrating superior relationship management and influencing skills with external parties
Performing as a valued member of the senior management leadership team, delivering holistic outcomes across the organisation

Key requirements include:

An in depth level of financial services procurement from any industry such as banking, finance, insurance or similar, and a broad exposure to APRA reporting requirements
Demonstrated prior leadership of a large team in procurement and supply chain; ability to provide prior examples of succession planning, improved retention and maintaining a cohesive culture
Tertiary qualifications in supply chain or commerce, and CIPS qualifications or similar industry equivalent
You will be an outcome focused professional, passionate about delivering a high quality of service to the wider business and excellence in contemporary procurement and supply chain practices
You will be a self reflective leader, with a growth mindset for yourself and your team

About The Role We have an exciting opportunity for an experience procurement professional to provide procurement and category services across a variety of business units. The role requires a high level of sourcing and contract management experience. Duties include:

Work collaboratively with stakeholders, Procurement team members and leaders across the organisation with the shared aim of providing a holistic customer and employee experience.
Partner with business leaders to genuinely understand the business to identify opportunities for improvement and seek out regular feedback to prioritise actions and activities.
Support with the design, development and implementation of procurement and category strategies that deliver long-term value and benefits to the organisation.
Deliver procurement projects such as strategic sourcing, efficiency and service improvement projects across the organisation.
Manage sourcing projects and negotiations and support implementation of supplier contracts to ensure business needs and objectives are achieved and sought benefits delivered (financial and non-financial).
Monitor, manage and escalate any issues and risks relating to procurement performance of suppliers or business areas to minimise risk.

About You

Experience performing a Senior Procurement/Category role within a medium to large organisation.
Experience managing end-to-end sourcing projects and contract renewals.
Ability to build strong supplier partnerships through excellent stakeholder relationship management skills.
Ability to negotiate and influence internal stakeholders and suppliers.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills to ensure clear and concise information is presented to stakeholders and strong working relationships are maintained.
Diploma or Advanced Diploma in Contract Management and Procurement would be preferred but is not essential.

Your new role

Lead procurement process for ICT managed service, ensuring new contracts for 2025/26.
Develop and implement ICT procurement strategies for efficiency and value.
Coordinate entire contract lifecycle for ICT, from award to transition phases.
Foster positive procurement culture, championing innovation and customer focus.
Align procurement services with government and departmental policies.
Monitor market trends, vendor conditions, and procurement performance.
Cultivate partnerships with stakeholders for procurement objectives.
Provide expert advice, support, and guidance on complex procurement matters.

What you will need to be successful
Experience required/desirable

MUST HAVE prior experience in Procurement, preferably within Government in the ICT or Goods and Services sectors
Demonstrated experience in providing effective leadership and direction in relation to strategic procurement practices and issues
Demonstrated high level of interpersonal, negotiation and consultation skills, in communicating with staff, management and executives
Demonstrated ability to consult and interact with external organizations
Demonstrated experience in undertaking multiple procurement activities from start to finish
Must be open to undertaking security vetting if eligible for the role
