The successful candidate will manage our Lecture Recording service, taking the lead in discovering how we use video solutions to improve learning and teaching in one of the country’s top universities. This is a great opportunity for either an experienced Service Manager or an individual with a background in technology looking to grow and develop within the role.

The role offers a salary of £40,247 – 47,874 pa and has a hybrid-working pattern, involving working on-campus in Edinburgh at least two days a week. This exciting new post is to work as part of the Deaf Support Team. The post holders will assist teaching and support staff in schools, to ensure that deaf pupils allocated to them can access the curriculum fully and achieve the best possible learning outcomes. They will support pupils by advising school staff on adapting learning materials to make them more easily understandable, using a range of equipment and ICT as advised by the allocated teacher where appropriate. They will support children/young people throughout their time in educational establishments by interpreting information in British Sign Language (BSL) and/or other agreed communication methods e.g. English, Sign-Supported English, lip speaking and note taking as necessary.

Applicants must hold Level 3/ SCQF level 6 in British Sign Language or be able to demonstrate equivalent skills through experience in order to work with deaf young people in an educational setting requiring interpretation from spoken English to BSL.

This post is regulated work with children and/or protected adults under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. The City of Edinburgh Council is looking for a motivated, innovative and dynamic leader to take on the role of Event and Public Safety Operations Manager. Edinburgh is the leading festival and events city and this role offers a unique opportunity to be at the heart of how it all works.

This role offers the opportunity to lead the team that looks after event planning for all major events and sports grounds in the City. Responsible for a small, but dedicated team of professional officers, the successful candidate will need to work with colleagues across the Council and with external stakeholders nationally and internationally to maintain and develop Edinburgh’s reputation as a vibrant, safe and sustainable world leading cultural capital.

• Develop and implement a work programme for the event and venues team, aligning this with the Council’s Culture Plan and Council Business Plan priorities.
• Lead and deliver event planning and operational management for all large and major events in the city, with a particular focus on event safety. This will include providing expert advice on event and venue safety, including best practice, guidance and appropriate legislation frameworks.
• Manage a team of specialist officers to ensure venues and events in Edinburgh are consistently advised to a high standard on how to operate safely. Ensure that workload is managed effectively and that team members are supported.
• Monitor the Event Operations budget, developing an annual programme of operational priorities and project managing their delivery within the available funding/timescales, in accordance with the Council’s financial regulations and demonstrating best value.
• Contract management for physical security contractors to ensure crowded spaces are protected appropriately, in accordance with the Council’s Procurement rules, and liaise with the relevant council teams to ensure works are coordinated.
• Chair Event Planning and Operation Group and Safety Advisory Group meetings for high-profile events and represent the Council in these meetings.
• Lead, on behalf of the Council, the planning and delivery of large events in the city, escalate issues and making recommendations to senior managers if issues arise and/or following events.
• Manage and coordinate council resources during event delivery, acting as the Council’s Tactical (Silver) Commander for large public events if required).
• Develop, enhance and maintain effective relationships with key stakeholders and colleagues, to ensure effective management of city event operations.
• Provide advice to the Council’s licensing service in relation to event and venue safety, providing reports and attending the Licensing Sub Committee as required.
• To initiate, develop and manage the implementation of new approaches to event planning and operations.

This exciting new post is to work as part of the Deaf Support Team. The post holder will assist teaching and support staff in schools, to ensure that deaf pupils allocated to them can access the curriculum fully and achieve the best possible learning outcomes.

They will support pupils by advising school staff on adapting learning materials to make them more easily understandable, using a range of equipment and ICT as advised by the allocated teacher where appropriate. They will support children/young people throughout their time in educational establishments by interpreting information in British Sign Language (BSL) and/or other agreed communication methods e.g. English, Sign-Supported English, lip speaking and note taking as necessary.

Applicants must hold Level 3/ SCQF level 6 in British Sign Language or be able to demonstrate equivalent skills through experience in order to work with deaf young people in an educational setting requiring interpretation from spoken English to BSL.

This post is regulated work with children and/or protected adults under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. The preferred candidate will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG Scheme update check. Where an individual has spent a continuous period of 3 months or more out with the UK in the last 5 years, an Overseas Criminal Record Check will be required. You will be required to provide this check. An unconditional offer of employment and commencement in the post will be subject to the outcome of both these pre-employment checks being deemed satisfactory.

The Opportunity:

The Digital Skills and Training team are inviting applications for a Training Consultant to support an institution-wide project by training website publishers and editors on the University’s new Web Publishing Platform.

As a Training Consultant you will take a lead role in scheduling and delivering a programme of training events to upskill existing and new web publishers and editors on the EdWeb2 platform. Collaborating with the project team, you will iteratively work on improving the programme of training based on user feedback and new functionality introduced to the platform during the project. You will analyse attendance and feedback data and report against project Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).



Skills and Attributes for success:

-Good understanding of learning and development principles and practices.
-Demonstrable experience of designing, developing and delivering training and resources at scale, both face-to-face and online.
-Demonstrable experience of working in a project environment and delivering training programmes to project timescales and budget.
-Strong interpersonal skills and capable of managing stakeholder relationships, including liaising and forming effective working relationships at an operational level.
