Science Museum Group's Enterprises is an integral, profit-making function, allowing our museums to keep our collections accessible whilst investing in our cultural offer and customer experience. The Events team support with promoting our spaces and running amazing events, ranging from conferences, product launches, dinners, receptions, Christmas parties and private events.
To support the Events team across our Northern museums, we are now seeking a Group Event Operations Manager to join us on a full-time permanent basis, based in any of our museums located in Manchester, York, Shildon or Bradford.
Please note - due to the nature of this role, some travel across all our Northern sites is an expectation.
About the role
This role will have prime responsibility for organising and delivering corporate, private and commercial events, as well as maximising on our space for hire at our Northern sites. You will develop and maintain a good relationship with key Museum stakeholders, accredited suppliers and the wider Events Team to ensure the effective delivery of the events calendar. Along with this, you will monitor monthly revenue, expenditure and budgets to measure and develop the profitability of events. You will also work closely with the Event Sales and Marketing Managers to manage event bookings and support wider Museum projects, and will be involved in recruiting, training and developing future Events Managers.

About you
Joining us, you will bring solid event management experience (ideally medium- to large-scale events in multi-use venues), with practical knowledge of the Health & Safety at Work Act, particularly with reference to event management. You will hold line management experience with the ability to train and develop team members and will lead by example with a collaborative and flexible approach. Knowledge and experience of corporate and private hire market will be useful, as will the ability to work with clients from both markets on all levels. In this role, a high level of customer service skills will be crucial
