We are pleased to support our client Cwmpas as they look to recruit the critical role of Head of Communications - Policy and PR. within their Senior Leadership team.

The Role:

The purpose of the role is to create and implement Cwmpas' communications strategy. You will need to be a leader in every sense, that will include leading a small comms team, leading as a subject matter expert, and leading by informing the CEO of the best approach.

Responsibilities:

• Lead the development and execution of a comprehensive communications strategy, producing high quality content that amplifies our mission and impact across all diverse areas of our work.
• Collaborate with the Head of Business Development to create compelling communications that support fundraising efforts
• Promote and embed the Cwmpas brand and messaging internally and externally, ensuring they resonate with diverse audiences and ensuring consistent and compelling messaging across the organisation and all platforms.
• Lead on policy and public relations, growing our reputation as a thought leader and influencing change for the longer term.
• Develop and manage the department's workplan and budget, including policy and public affairs strategies, campaigns, research, press and PR strategies.
• Develop and maintain strong relationships with senior key external stakeholders, with a view to identifying future visibility and impact opportunities and manage risks.
• Represent Cwmpas externally, and act as a spokesperson in the media as and when required.

Person Specification:

• You will need to be a communications expert with leadership experience.
• Have worked within the 3rd sector previously and have a thorough understanding of the challenges within the sector.
• Politically astute and aware, being able to liaise with journalists, senior officials, and politicians.
• Strategic thinkers.
• Confident in own ability and able to make decisive decisions.
• Excellent communications skills, able to present confidently.
• Experienced in digital channels and able to grow the organisations presence, audience, and awareness of its impact.

This is a remote role but candidates must be within a sensible commuting distance to Cardiff for occasional company meetings

This is an exciting opportunity to join the PR & Communications team of an award-winning Professional Services organisation based in Cardiff on a permanent basis.

Your new role
Reporting to the Head of PR and Communications, you will be responsible for developing and implementing effective public relations campaigns to enhance the reputation of the organisation. This will involve building strong relationships with media outlets, managing press releases and enquiries, as well as seeking to secure positive media coverage by building and maintaining relationships with key contacts. You will collaborate with internal teams to align PR strategies with overall marketing and communications activity. You will also take responsibility for media monitoring and evaluation, sharing industry trends and competitor activities to identify opportunities.

What you'll need to succeed
You will have prior experience of working in a PR position, with responsibility for building and maintaining strong media relationships and using media monitoring tools. You will have excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to craft engaging content for a variety of audiences. Excellent stakeholder management skills are required both internally and externally and at all levels. A Bachelors degree in PR, Communications, Journalism or a related field is an essential requirement for this post.

What you'll get in return
This is a permanent opportunity based in central Cardiff. Annual salary of £37,000 - £42,000 plus benefits package including 33 days annual leave (including bank holidays) plus your birthday and the option of two CSR days per annum. Hybrid working options are available.

Job Summary: As an event nurse you will be part of the medical provision at operational events covered by St. John Ambulance Cymru. You will often be the initial healthcare professional to attend patients in the pre-hospital setting, usually working within a treatment centre, first aid post or on an ambulance. You will be expected to work autonomously where appropriate and often alongside a wider multidisciplinary team. Volunteering is at the core of the charity and at most events you will be assisted by St. John Ambulance Cymru volunteers. You will be required to provide effective clinical leadership, development, and mentorship to other personnel. All Event Nurses are asked to familiarise themselves with the SJAC Nursing scope of practise and the SJAC Nursing passport ( attached). Core Duties: Undertake a full range of nursing duties in line with professional scope of practice, RCN guidelines and St. John Ambulance Cymru policy and procedures. As appropriate, assess, manage and discharge patients. Where required, administer medications in line with professional scope of practice and in adherence with St. John Ambulance Cymru medicines management policy. Meet the standards set out in the St. John Ambulance Cymru healthcare professionals and clinical practice policy and completion of the Nurse/Midwife passport. Maintain up to date with continual professional development and the requirements of the HCPC. Maintain ability to operate in line with HCPC standards of proficiency. Maintain accurate clinical records in line with St. John Ambulance Cymru policy and procedures. Drive the organisations vehicles in accordance with the vehicle and driving policy, where appropriate. On commencement of duty, check all relevant equipment to ensure it is functioning correctly and ready for use, report any defects to the event manager. Assist with the induction and mentorship of new staff and volunteers as required. Maintain professional registration with the health and care professions council.
