DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The aviation safety inspector (ASI) receives administrative direction from management in terms of broadly defined missions or functions. The ASI, mostly independently plans, designs, and carries out programs, projects, studies, or other work. The ASI provides policy assistance to ASIs on difficult or complex policy interpretations. The work is normally accepted without change. Completed work may be reviewed for adherence to FAA policy and for assurance that project requirements have been fulfilled.

ASIs at the FG-13 level issue certificates to and monitor (1) a large and complex aviation organization or
(2) a number of smaller organizations that, together, are comparable in complexity to one large one. They are the primary contact point with the aviation organization(s). They may decide on issuance of the original certificates. They evaluate and decide upon proposals to change the authorized programs of the organizations. They continuously monitor the activities of organizations to determine whether they are following their authorized program, Federal regulations, and good safety practices.

FG-13 assignments are characterized by one or more of the following:
1. Commercially operated aircraft or and the complex avionics equipment associated with such
aircraft;
2. A variety of maintenance operations with diverse types of aircraft; or
3. Novel and complex aviation operations.

FG-13 employees plan and conduct their assignments with substantial technical independence. They receive administrative and policy guidance from their supervisors and policy makers. They also obtain technical advice from higher-level inspectors who are experts on a particular type of aircraft or who have overall program responsibility. They independently plan and carry out a work program to meet the needs and monitor the activities of the organizations for which they have certification responsibility. The scope program may be such as to require the occasional assistance of other employees to conduct inspections and evaluate operations.

The ASI applies a mastery knowledge level of the appropriate specialization and a broad knowledge
line of business mission and goals to assigned programs and areas of responsibility.

The ASI plans and directs the use of time and resources to accomplish organizational objectives. He or she defines, organizes, and uses resources to accomplish work activities within established schedules, analyzes program requirements and accomplishments, and makes or directs adjustments as necessary to address organizational needs.

Guidelines and precedents are frequently inadequate for dealing with novel or complex operations.
FG-13 employees understand and apply the basic principles of aviation safety and interpret the
intent of the regulations.

At FG-13, contacts are frequently with owners and top managers of aviation corporations and involve of issues and problems that confront large aviation organizations. Occasionally issues are controversial, arousing considerable public interest.

ASIs at the FG-13 level participate extensively in the certification inspection and surveillance of highly complex air carrier operations where principal program responsibility is vested in an aviation safety inspector of higher grade. These FG-13 employees have broad authority to negotiate with carrier management and make technical determinations within the coverage of approved specifications and policy manuals.

The ASI provides guidance to field level staff to solve difficult technical issues. Resolves all but unique problems, with the intervention of management or a more experienced technical specialist. Develop plans, techniques, and policies to address current and anticipated problems and issues. Works with management to solve problems.

Contacts are internal and external to the agency. The ASI occasionally represents the agency as a point of contact for policy development, inspection activities or as a technical trainer.

Duties may include, but are not limited to the following:

• Constructs, alters, repairs and/or modifies interior decoration and structural item such as: doors, partitions, windows, finished paneling, ceiling tiles, floor tiles, bathroom tiles, interior and exterior trims, screens, roofs, floor covering, shelving, cabinets, picture frames where accuracy, spacing and fitness are essential and appearances important.
• Provides special packing of all equipment or accessories.
• Plans and executes projects from initial layout to final assembly and/or installation.

• Follows established guides for the application and safety requirements in his trade to assure satisfactory painting progress based on the useful life of paint and painting procedures for existing building and equipment.

The Office of Chief Counsel, General Legal Services (GLS) handles non-tax matters and employs approximately 92 attorneys and 7 paralegals. Work in the GLS Area Counsel field offices is focused on providing advice, support, and litigation representation for IRS and Chief Counsel management in administrative fora and in arbitration, with the majority of case work centering on labor, EEO, and personnel law. The field offices also provide assistance to the Department of Justice in federal courts on such matters, as well as for suits against IRS employees, and may assist with processing claims under the Federal Tort Claims Act.

The incumbent serves as an Area Counsel within the Office of the Associate Chief Counsel (General Legal Services) (GLS), supervising and managing the GLS function within the designated geographical jurisdiction (Alaska, Arizona, California, Colorado, Hawaii, Idaho, Montana, Nevada, New Mexico, Oregon, Utah, Washington, and Wyoming).

How Do We Pay:

Compensation for this position in the first year is a combination of hourly pay, guaranteed bonus, and the opportunity to earn commission payments based upon the applicable compensation schedule for the role, which may be amended from time to time.

• Manage routing procedures to ensure maximum utilization of equipment and manpower.

• Provide on-going feedback for continuous process improvement

Qualifications :

• Minimum of 5 years proven managerial experience is required

• Previous experience in a Warehouse or Distribution environment a plus

• Computer skills including Word and Excel preferred

• Knowledge of battery or automotive systems a plus

Scope Data :

• Contacts are internal –(Operation Directors. Market General Managers, ACES, NAC, HO staff) and external (Customers). 

• This position operates with high degree of relational interaction and minimal supervision. 

• Must build and maintain relationships across Enterprise associated with source data of all types.

Work Environment :

• Ability to sustain posture in a seated position for prolonged periods of time.

• Regularly required to use hands to grasp or handle, talk and hear, stand and walk.

Typical Job Duties and Responsibilities:

    • Sweep, mop, and wash floors, and other surfaces (inside buildings).
    • Use light and heavy (commercial type) floor (buffers) and shampoo machines including attachments.
    • Vacuum rugs in offices and public areas. Spot clean daily and shampoo when directed rugs. Clean and dust furniture, exhibit cases, pictures, chairs, door trim, light fixtures, and all other horizontal surfaces including periodic high dusting.
    • Wash windowsills; glass in interior doors, partition, and specified windows.
    • Wash glass and trim at entrance doors, interior/exterior- Wash/spot clean interior walls as appropriate daily.
    • Clean bathrooms and restock paper supplies daily.  Standard bathroom procedures are to damp wipe glass surfaces, empty waste baskets, service soap and toilet paper dispensers, dust sills, clean tile walls, shelves, stall partitions, sweep/mop/scrub floors, etc.
    • Monitors possible defects such as clogged urinals and lights out, and reports to supervisors.
        ○ Collect building trash daily placing it in approved container and place in designated collection area for subsequent removal.
        ○ Replace liners in waste baskets and trash containers per specs.
        ○ Sweep or shovel snow from steps and walkways at building entrances and connecting walkways/sidewalks as directed.
    • Performs periodic work:   High dusting, leather and wood surface, polishing, wall washing.
    • Any and all other duties as assigned.

Requirements:
    • Basic cleaning responsibilities requires no previous experience
    • Must be able to take direction, to work with minimal supervision, and to function cooperatively as part of a team
    • Ability to use cleaning tools and equipment.
    • Use a portable vacuum cleaner – back pack style. 
    • Requires attention to detail, a pride in delivering excellent service, organization, and high levels of energy and endurance.
