You will provide a consistent high-quality service in all areas allocated to you within the care home environment to ensure that the environment meets the requirements of the service specification and expectations of clients and staff alike.

Key tasks for which you will be responsible include; carrying out tasks relating to catering, cleaning and laundry services; ensuring that the clients’ dignity and confidentiality is maintained at all times; working within all areas of the care home environment of Facilities Management Soft Services as instructed by the Assistant Facilities Housekeeper or other appropriate manager and ensuring that all areas used by the clients and care staff are maintained to the required standard on a consistent and timely basis.

It is essential that you have experience of working within the catering, cleaning and laundry service and high awareness of current hygiene practices. You must have organisational, communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to work as part of a team.

An SVQ (or equivalent) in Catering, SVQ (or equivalent) in Cleaning or elementary food hygiene certificate are desirable.

16 hour Housekeeper position working between the hours of 1530-1830 +1, 5 days over 7, 52 weeks.

You will be responsible for the effective administration, management and organisation of three school libraries; Johnstone High School Library (3 days per week), St. Andrews High School Library (1 day per week) and Gryffe High School Library (1 day per week).

Duties of the post include: to select relevant books and other learning resources to support the curriculum and the whole school community; to provide assistance and support to pupils and staff using the library; to encourage effective use of ICT and online resources; and to provide opportunities, activities and events to develop and enhance learning and literacy.

You must have a degree or postgraduate diploma in library and information studies or equivalent professional library qualification; have excellent ICT skills; and the ability to work effectively under pressure in a busy environment. You must also have the ability to work under your own initiative with minimum supervision, and good communication skills.

Experience of working in a library, and experience of working with children and young people is desirable, as is a knowledge of Curriculum for Excellence and of children’s literature.
