Acorn by Synergie is recruiting on behalf of a public sector client for Hostel Cleaning Operatives working in Cardiff.

Duties and Responsibilities

To provide a high-quality cleaning service and taking full responsibility for specific tasks in communal areas and residential flats within Hostels.

To follow all cleaning procedures.

To support their policies and procedures regarding Health and Safety and safe working practices.

To risk assess areas work and tasks to ensure a healthy and safe working environment for employees and public at large.

Identify repairs and report the condition of the flats and the communal areas within the hostel/s.

Liaise daily with Building Staff and Hostel Supervisor, reporting on operational problems arising, including ASB or other tenancy issues.

To provide clear written information to support work undertaken to aid the management team when providing answers to corporate complaints and for use during performance reviews.

To ensure customer satisfaction, by working to improve customer service, and provide the highest quality of work in line with service level agreements.

To communicate with customers and other service areas by telephone or in person as required.

To undergo training and coaching and achieve BICSc training standards.

Role overview

You will ensure the building, communal areas and grounds are kept to high standards of cleanliness and act as a face for the
development engaging with the residents to ensure exceptional customer service at all times.




This role will be working 40 hours per week, 5 days over 7, therefore you must be able to work weekends on a rota basis!

What will you do?

* Cleaning all communal areas thoroughly daily, including polishing, dusting, hovering, also sparkle cleans of apartments for
move in's.
* Ensure lifts are kept clean and panels streak free.
* To have an open, friendly and helpful approach with all requests made with emphasis on servicing the resident.
* External ashtrays are to be emptied into non-combustible containers, thoroughly cleaned and replaced to their original
location.
* To give guidance and assistance to residents in a willing and friendly manner. To ensure that the highest levels of customer
care and service are maintained at all times.
* To immediately report and H&S issues to your line manager.
* Ensure the 'daily cleaning check lists' are completed in a timely manner.
* Ensure all cleaning materials needed are kept up to date and neatly organised.
* Maintain a clean and smart appearance at all times.
* Provide utility readings as and when required by residents.

* Previous experience as a housekeeper, or cleaner within hospitality or large scale residential property.
* Excellent communication skills and attention to detail.
* Ability to work independently and on own initiative, yet follow instruction and rules as required.
* High standards in cleanliness and customer service.
* The ability to work in a fast paced environment and time management is key.

We are looking for an experienced multi-skilled general builder, proficient in most trades, on a sub-contract basis. You will work across a variety of refurbishment, fit-out and build works on residential and commercial projects. Ongoing work with potential to become permanent. Immediate Start. Rate paid dependent on experience.

The successful candidate MUST have the following;

• Experience of construction and building work, including single and double-story extensions, loft and garage conversions, commercial fit-outs.
• Experience in most trades and general building work – competent in groundworks and drainage, block and brick work, insulating boarding and plastering, rendering, structural alterations using steelwork, carpentry, plumbing, tiling, decorating.
• Ability to read and understand architect and engineer drawings
• Excellent time management
• First class communication skills

Job Description:

We are looking for x5 people with maintenance experience. Covering all aspects of general maintenance around the building from fixing a hole in the wall, painting, through to changing taps on a sink.

You will be able to confidently undertake general maintenance work within properties, including but not limited to:-

Working with suited locking systems both mechanical and electronic

Working with windows and door repairs

Basic plastering, repairing holes in walls etc.

Basic domestic plumbing skills

Complete like for like electrical changes including safety isolation and recording of works when complete

Basic joinery skills

Assist with fire alarm activations and false alarms

Note: These skill sets and previous experience/background must be on your CV. There are opportunities within this role to demonstrate your abilities and secure further work.
