Job Overview:

We are recruiting for an experienced Housekeeper to supervise the day to day running of the Domestic Staff, working within the team to ensure a high degree of cleanliness in all areas of the care home. To organise day to day work requirements and set required standards against which work will be checked, in accordance with correct procedures on an ‘as and ‘when’ required basis. To carry out the necessary housekeeping duties ensuring that the home remains clean and homely at all times, this includes the care of linen and service users personal laundry, making beds and ensuring service users bedrooms are clean and tidy and to assist with any other housekeeping duty that may arise. To ensure that the kitchen area is cleaned including laying and cleaning tables, washing up and ensuring that food preparation areas hygienically cleaned and maintained.

The post on offer is to work at the Eden and George ward in Northcroft Hospital as an SAS doctor. This is within a 16-bedded male inpatient ward in George ward and 8-beds in Eden ward .

The acute inpatient unit offers excellent opportunity to manage male patients with an acute mental illness that are require hospitalisation . Working with a consultant psychiatrist, the day-to-day clinical management of 24 male patients will be most of the role. There will also be an opportunity to work closely with the locality home treatment team to manage better flow of patients through the acute pathway

We are looking for someone with enthusiasm and an appreciation of the opportunities and challenges of working within culturally diverse areas of Birmingham. You will have sound clinical skills and be approved, or eligible for approval, under Section 12 of the Mental Health Act. Reports to: Operations Manager/Practice Manager Hours: 30 hrs per week (Negotiable) Job Summary: The General Practice Assistant will support the smooth running of clinics by performing the more routine administration and basic clinical tasks on behalf of the GP, freeing up their time to focus on the patient. The GPA must ensure that they work within and recognise their scope of practice, escalating any concerns to the GP. Main Responsibilities The post holder will be expected to: Support the GP with completing basic observations as required e.g., dipping urine, taking blood pressure, ECGs, phlebotomy & basic annual reviews. Extracting all information from clinical letters that needs coding and adding to notes. Explaining treatment procedures to patients as requested by the GP. Sorting clinical post and prioritising for the GP in terms of actions using Docman. Signposting some post to others such as clinical pharmacist etc. Confidentiality In the course of seeking treatment, patients entrust us with, or allow us to gather, sensitive information in relation to their health and other matters. Participate in regular supervision provided by a named/duty senior/more experienced clinician regarding clinical elements of the role and/or issues arising in the practice. Take responsibility for own development, learning and performance and demonstrate skills and activities to others who are undertaking similar work. Attend all relevant annual updates. Inform the lead GP of any concerns regarding the GPA role and of any professional development needed. Be aware of own role boundaries and what to do when you have reached them. Communication The post-holder should recognise the importance of effective communication within the team and strive to: Communicate effectively with other team members. Be familiar in all mediums of communications such as email, tasks, telephone etc. Communicate effectively with patients and carers. Recognise peoples needs for alternative methods of communication and respond accordingly.
