What Will I Be Doing?

Job Summary:

Under the supervision of the Housekeeping Manager, Housekeepers are responsible for the regular cleaning of buildings.  This can include, but is not limited to, dust mopping, sweeping, wet mopping, vacuuming, dusting, polishing furniture, cleaning rest rooms, removing trash and simple operation of basic mechanical cleaning equipment.

This is manual labor associated with the recurring but non-routine cleaning and maintenance of buildings.  Employees will be under immediate supervision and will perform various tasks requiring moderate physical strength.  This work is normally of the project-type nature.

• Stripping and refinishing floors

• Scrubbing floors with machines

• Vacuuming furniture and drapes

• Window washing

• Wall washing and vacuuming

• Vent and radiator dusting and washing

• Light fixture dusting and washing

• Waste receptacle washing

• Various duties related to student registration and placement

• Snow and ice shoveling and removal

• Carpet shampooing

• Related work as required and instructed

• Set up rooms for conferences, lectures, special events

Physical Requirements:

• Full use of all extremities

• Frequent bending/squatting and kneeling

• Occasional carrying/lifting of items over 50 pounds (with assistance, as needed)

The Porter cleans vacant units in preparation for marketing and occupancy and property common areas, office, and models units. The porter reports to Resident Manager and the Property Manager. They will work closely with the maintenance staff.

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES:

• Cleans the property business office, restrooms, laundry rooms, model apartments and property common areas on a defined schedule
• Cleans vacant apartment units in preparation for showing and occupancy
• Responsible for the overall upkeep of the property landscape and the exterior image which includes cleaning of the driveways, parking lots, curbs, dumpster areas, exterior hallways, or any other public areas.
• Responsible for providing world class customer service by addressing the concerns and maintenance needs of our residents in a friendly and professional manner
• Reports any maintenance problems to the supervisor
• Assists with inventory control
• Performs job duties using safety guidelines and reports obstacles to be doing so
• Performs other duties as assigned

COMPETENCIES:

• Knowledge of safe use of cleaning agents and equipment used to perform job duties
