Child and Adolescent Psychotherapist 8a - 1wte Permanent - Bury CAMHS (preceptorship opportunity)

The postholder will work alongside colleagues and provide training, consultation, supervision and specialist intervention while simultaneously promoting trauma informed practice across the large multi-agency network of mixed professionals and supporting healthy relationships within our Bury families.


The postholder will work as a highly specialist practitioner developing and
implementing a community based therapeutic service to children, young people and their families with a particular focus on trauma and attachment. S/he will provide assessment and treatment of children and young people and their carers grounded in the principles and techniques of psychoanalytic psychotherapy.

The training and strategic development aspect of the role involves acting as a specialist resource and contributing to multi-agency training of relevant professionals across Bury. The post holder will be expected to offer consultation and clinical supervision to professional colleagues

The Living Well psychiatrist will offer expert advice to GPs for patients not currently open to secondary care mental health services. The service will advise about medication, signposting to other services and specialties’, as well as clinical management and diagnostic advice. The post holder will work with the Living Well in Stockport service, working across Bury as a consultant psychiatrist, providing clinical leadership to the multidisciplinary team.

Each Community Consultant is allocated a Junior Doctor (NW Deanery training schemes) to work with them with support from advanced practitioner and sessional input from a speciality doctor. The EIT is covered by a part time consultant.

Applicants must be on the GMC’s Specialist Register or eligible for inclusion or be within six months’ of the anticipated award of a Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT) in General Adult Psychiatry at the time of interview for the post.

Low frequency on-call (1 in 31) with full second tier on call and 1 day off after your on call.

To provide high-quality Mental Health Care for adults with severe and enduring mental health problems within the community

To work closely with other teams and Consultants to ensure coherent and high-quality mental health care for adults with severe and enduring mental health problems within the Bury area

To work with the other Consultants to support the development of the service, and to attend local and divisional service development meetings
