The Bid Director owns and co-ordinates the bid process; starting with capture, tender all the way to bid outcome. The role will also own strategic off-market extension of agreed key accounts.

They'll build the right bid team with the relevant skills and knowledge required to win. This is a networked role that needs someone who can work under pressure and to stretching deadlines.

Another key aspect of the role is to create and maintain relationship maps for the key IFM accounts. These will include both internal and external stakeholders. This is to maximise the potential for off-market extensions, extra scope and more business. They'll create and manage plans with the Account Directors for extension and retention activity. Supporting the overall pipeline and resource planning.

Main Duties

-Engage with the client during capture phase. Aiming to influence the technical and commercial elements - positioning Mitie well as they move to tender

-Provide high quality win strategy development. Providing bid leadership for the larger more complex bids in Mitie

-Guiding the strategic development of bids. Using a detailed focus on client requirements; recognising the tangible and intangible needs and drivers of each stakeholder

-Develop and implement effective communications and stakeholder management plans, designed to influence a winning outcome

-Work closely with the operations team in the business to draw on their experience and knowledge and ultimately agreement on a winning bid submission

-Build, lead and motivate high performing bid teams with a focus to win

-Lead client negotiations to contract signature

-Lead client meetings and competitive dialogue sessions

-Lead the bid team in the implementation of all necessary bid procedures and processes in line with Mitie methodology and ensure they follow appropriate governance

-Lead the bid team in analysing the bid documents and requirements to ensure both compliance and responsiveness to the client's issues and needs throughout the bidding process

-Coach and mentor members of the Bid Team, particularly the Bid Manager and/or Senior Bid Manager

-Ensure all mandated workshops and reviews, as set out in Mitie methodology, are undertaken to full effect with support from the correct stakeholders

-Oversee customer communications including CQs and distributing updates to the bid team

-Review written responses and provide constructive feedback to author's in line with the Win Strategy and Storyboard requirements prior to formal reviews

-Conduct regular proposal progress status meetings and resolve or escalate any issues identified

-Conduct mandatory reviews to make sure bids are appropriately compelling and commercially attractive and capable of winning

-Deliver compliant, professionally produced written submissions within client defined timeframes

-Lead development and production of client and internal presentations.

What will I be doing?

The Commercial Director is responsible for developing a commercial strategy covering all revenue streams and channels to maximize total revenue and profit performance as well as market share penetration of the hotel and food and drink performance.

This role will drive the planning and execution of the commercial strategy and activity through supporting the Revenue management team, Sales, Catering and Events, Marketing, eCommerce and Public Relations teams, through working effectively with area support teams.

They support hotels in deriving the most value from Hilton Sales teams. The role ensures that commercial management strategies are set for all revenue streams and that all systems are used to their full potential to yield the highest possible amount of revenue from all available space, whether in Rooms, Meeting Space, outlets or other revenue departments. Driving overall FMS results gaining an outsized market share through a disciplined execution of commercial activities.

A Commercial Director will lead, coach, develop, recruit and retain future talents. They will manage performance, develop and evaluate the commercial team members on the agreed KPI’s, whilst working effectively as part of a 4D structure on property.

Specifically, a Commercial Director will perform the following tasks to the highest standards:

· Directly accountable for driving the Top line Budget and Forecast by implementing a commercial strategy and business plan through to execution using the Hilton Commercial Focus process and all available business tools and intelligence available. · Ensure Business Review Guidelines (current to + 5 years) all Pricing & Rate Quotation Strategies are in place in order to maximize all pricing components of sales and catering opportunities and achieve positive group market share.

· Support various On Property, RDOS’s, and Area Marketing teams in coordinating hotel level marketing, sales and public relations activities. Liaise with regional support and brand teams to provide maximum benefit to hotel performance.

· Support the Cluster Revenue Managers/On Property Revenue Manager and RMCC to establish an optimal mix, review and validate forecasts, develop strategies for different demand periods, and review and approve retail and group pricing strategies.

· Develop and maintain strong relationships with all stakeholders, owners, hotel teams, Hilton matrix support teams to ensure commercial benefits of the hotel.

· Liaise with VP of Operations, presents commercial strategies to Regional Team and key stakeholders.

· Consistently conforms to Hilton brand standards and corporate identity and utilizes all communication tools (under the guidance of regional marketing and BPS).

· Keeps in touch with Market trends and review/amend strategies accordingly in line with the evolving market conditions.

-To source, lead and manage UK new business development opportunities for cleaning services

-To support the team as a Fire and Security service “subject matter expert” providing commercial intelligence

You will have proven experience of working successfully in a facilities management environment in a Solutions or Business Development position ideally within the Fire and Security industry. You will also have experience of managing and participating in project teams that work, adopting project management disciplines. You will be able to deliver strong consistent win rations against target and be a commercial thinker understanding negotiation and be committed to continuous improvement.
