- Establishes priorities and ensures that timely performance of a satisfactory quantity and quality of work; makes decisions on work problems presented by subordinate supervisors; set priorities and prepare schedules for completion of work.
- Supervises a geographically dispersed staff located in several field office locations and comprised of at least 20 criminal investigators and support personnel.
- Responsible in dealing with senior officials of various International, Federal, State, and local law enforcement agencies, Defense Criminal Investigative Organizations, industry representatives, and professional societies.
- Analyzes requests for investigations and determines which should be initiated, curtailed or terminated from the standpoint of jurisdiction, investigative priorities, complexity, costs involved, manpower requirements, other law enforcement agencies.
- Plans, directs, coordinates, and develops special investigative techniques including undercover and initiative operations, consensual monitoring, and use of the IG subpoena.
- Manages a security program within DCIS jurisdiction and conducts asset protection surveys of DoD installations to assure the protection of classified or sensitive information from unauthorized access, sabotage, compromise, theft, or vandalism.
