DELIVERY OF SAFE, HIGH QUALITY PATIENT CARE Create an environment within the Division that makes care, safety and patient satisfaction everyones first concern. There will be an emphasis on learning from the results of patient feedback and risk management systems to drive continuous service improvement and the reduction of risk. Ensure that high quality clinical services are delivered in line with the Trusts Quality Strategy and available financial resources. Be proactive and innovative in leading the development and implementation of the Division Patient/Parent Involvement strategy, ensuring there are mechanisms to seek feedback to help improve/develop services. The post holder will listen and take action to address concerns identified through a range of tools including the annual patient survey, real time patient feedback systems, PALs and formal complaints, providing regular feedback to patients, parents and staff on action taken with training and support for staff where appropriate. Work closely with and empower clinicians to achieve optimal decisions for overall patient care. Support clinicians to build pathways that are patient-centred and working with patients as partners in the delivery of excellent healthcare. Promote and supporting the delivery of national and local healthcare standards as one of the ways of raising healthcare standards for all. Utilise benchmarked data to compare performance with similar organisations to ensure continuous improvement and service development. Be responsible for ensuring that the Divisions complaints process complies with national standards. Communicate sensitive and often contentious information to patients, families and staff, including chairing local resolution meetings as required.

Service and Project Management Responsible for the operational management and coordination of the core professional support and development services delivered across the workforce arm of the Medical Directors Office, including medical appraisal and revalidation, job planning, and performance based reward schemes. To develop, establish and oversee the maintenance of robust and integrated service management and administrative systems and procedures to ensure efficient and effective operation of the services across the Trust. To plan and oversee multi-layered service improvement projects in response to performance indicators or changes in national policy or local requirements. To design and oversee the production of accurate and high quality reports and information on a regular basis in order to inform the strategic decisions and operational activities of senior management and the clinical workforce alike. To devise, adopt and implement any new reporting arrangements required by emerging national policy or local strategic or operational needs. To implement and manage agreed quality assurance systems and activities in line with national guidelines and to identify, plan and coordinate appropriate service improvement projects in response to performance across quality assurance metrics. To undertake additional research, audit and other project work linked to the managed services as directed by the Operational Delivery Manager. To monitor any internal fitness to practise investigation processes in response to GMC requests, including maintaining standards in process and good record keeping in line with GMC and local policy. To implement on the behalf of the Responsible Officer and MDO senior management team and lead on specific projects as directed. Resource Management Responsible for the management of the service delivery team, including responsibility for training and development and performance management. Provide direction to the internal team to utilise their strengths and attributes to maximum effect to achieve objectives, ensuring they meet expected levels of performance and receive appropriate support and development. Communications & Relationship Management To support the resolution of complex and sensitive issues where escalated by the service administrators, often acting as a mediator and providing expert advice where needed. To promote supportive and positive relationships between the internal MDO team and the medical and dental professional body at the Trust, running a service that is client focused and responsive. To draft and disseminate appropriate communications across the Trust, informing and engaging clinical and management staff with programme aims, progress and changes, and often dealing with complex and sensitive issues. To provide training to medical, dental and management staff across the Trust related to the professional requirements of medical appraisal, revalidation, job planning and performance based awards programmes, and the IT systems and processes in place to support staff in complying with national requirements. To provide management leadership in achieving service and programme aims through influence, negotiation and persuasion across diverse groups of clinicians, especially where colleagues are facing competing priorities in achieving professional regulatory requirements. Draft appropriate material for the MDO pages of the Trust intranet site and manage the team of administrators to ensure these pages remain up to date and relevant. Liaise with external bodies including the GMC, NHS England and the Royal Colleges in adopting best practice and complying with reporting requirements, as directed by the Head of Service Contribute to an aligned approach with colleagues across partner organisations within Kings Health Partners in the development of quality standards and the delivery of core services. Information & Systems Management Responsible for proactively planning system changes to ensure that system inputs and outputs are designed to facilitate the Trusts participation in and compliance with changes in national policy and reporting requirements, including interpreting new guidance and recommendations To ensure accurate and fit for purpose data management and reporting systems are in place to enable senior management to monitor programme progress and compliance with national standards, including key metrics in monitoring and evaluating the quality of the core services across the Trust. To act as first point of contact on behalf of the consultant and the Trust and deal effectively and courteously with all enquiries from GPs, patients, other departments within the Trust and all other departments. To type all clinical letters, including those of a sometimes distressing or emotional nature, from audiotape or direct dictation as agreed. To organise and service meetings on behalf of the Consultant and the Consultants team, taking and distributing minutes as required. To deal with all telephone calls relating to the service, ensuring patient focus is maintained and enquiries are handled in a courteous, tactful and prompt manner, and respecting patient confidentiality at all times. To prioritise and process incoming correspondence and ensure that it is dealt withpromptly by the appropriate member of staff. To ensure that investigation reports are brought to the attention of the appropriate medical team and signed off by the appropriate member of staff. Arrange for the request and/or safe onward transmissions of patient investigation reports and film to other sites where necessary. To maintain filing systems that facilitates the effective running of the department. To use the appropriate IT system for checking patient information and appointments. To manage patient records appropriately, ensuring an up-to-date record is maintained ofall case notes returned from the wards and clinics, that patient case notes are available for clinics and appointments and are dispatched to other departments or hospitals as necessary.

The Enfield South Locality Team is part of the Enfield Community Mental Health Services. Other teams include the Enfield North Locality Team; the Enfield Community Rehab Team; the Enfield Early Intervention Service; the Enfield Complex Emotional Needs Service; and the Enfield Crisis Resolution and Home Treatment Team. The Enfield Community Mental Health Team for Older Adults and the Enfield Memory Service are also included. The advertised post is for a consultant in the Enfield South Locality Team. The Enfield Crisis Resolution and Home Treatment Team holds a caseload between on average 30 - 40 clients and works closely with the inpatient teams as part of their role as gatekeepers for hospital admissions. The Enfield Acute Services are based at Chase Farm Hospital and include 4 inpatient general adult wards (one of which is a male PICU), a male rehabilitation ward (Somerset villa), and 3 other Older Adult inpatient wards. Community Services have an established and close working relationship with the Psychiatric Liaison Service at the North Middlesex University Hospital, which runs a dedicated psychiatric A&E unit called Horizon. There are also close links with the Psychiatric Liaison Service at Barnet General Hospital. There are Health Based Places of Safety (HBPoS) at Chase Farm Hospital and Highgate, and patients from BEH also have access to the Mental Health Crisis Assessment Centre (MHCAS) provided by Camden and Islington. The Enfield Urgent Care Service is supported by the Enfield Local Authority Approved Mental Health Professionals (AMHP) service. The Enfield Consultant body is a close-knit group of 15 colleagues, mostly holding substantive posts, which meet regularly in formal and informal meetings scheduled on a weekly basis via MS teams on a Monday. Various issues are discussed i.e. local and trust-wide managerial issues, vacancies, training concerns, etc. The Clinical Directors (CDs) and Enfield Associate Clinical Director (ACD) regularly attend this meeting and update the consultant body. Consultants are actively encouraged and supportive to take on management and leadership roles and to contribute to the broader strategic planning of the Trust. There are regular trust academic conferences (trust wide academic program on Wednesday afternoons via MS Teams) and trust corporate conferences (twice yearly). The consultant group has an established culture of mutual support, collaborative working and shared decision making. In addition to this, the partnership holds joint Medical and Clinical Advisory Groups for all consultants, currently virtual and 2-monthly although this program is subject to review. Consultants are expected to regularly attend the weekly consultant meeting and the weekly academic program. Whilst several CPD peer groups have formed within Enfield, the consultants are also encouraged to seek peer groups outside the organization as an opportunity to network and share experience with colleagues from other services. A monthly Balint-Group for consultants has re-started. This gives opportunity to conduct in-depth case-based discussions (CbD) required for annual appraisals and revalidation. New consultants (up to five years following appointments) are encourages to link in as a group and are supported by the Medical Leads during their induction. New consultants are also encouraged to make use of the Start Well program facilitated by the Royal College of Psychiatrists. All new consultants are given the opportunity to seek a mentor within or outside the organization as part of their job plan. The post also comes at a time of extra resources being made available to the community services to have a broader remit to engage clients who are traditionally caught between primary and secondary care, offer help at the point of crisis (with the aim of cutting waiting times) and offering evidence based psychological treatment and physical health monitoring in line with national standards. The increased recruitment of voluntary care sector staff is with the awareness that clinical care accounts for only 20% of health outcomes, while socioeconomic, behavioural, and environmental factors determine the remaining 80%.

The applicant would be expected to join the existing radiologists in providing a comprehensive cross-sectional and diagnostic radiology service. The post-holder will help support the running of service at our community diagnostic hub at Queen Marys Hospital, Roehampton and in our main department at St Georges Hospital.

Core Clinical Responsibilities: The post holder will have principal duties to provide clinical care to Kensington and Chelsea patients under Westhill/Inclusive PCN. They will be supported by the MDT team that includes a Specialty doctor (full time), and 1 GPVTS, as well as other professionals such as pharmacist, psychologists, occupational therapists and employment specialists. The post holder will provide joint leadership with the manager, for the performance culture of the team, ensuring best practice is employed, and that the Trusts quality and productivity targets are met. They will promote good clinical care for all patients for both their mental health and physical health. The post holder will adopt a pragmatic leadership style, thus ensuring collaborative working both at a clinical and an operational level. The post holder will be expected to participate in Quality Improvement and service evaluation projects and will be encouraged to support any research which may be relevant to either short or long-term service improvement. Together with the team manager and Neohealth Consultant colleagues, the post holder will provide overall clinical leadership for the North K&C Community Mental Health Hubs multidisciplinary team as well as direct clinical assessments and consultations for the Westhill/Inclusive PCN. Management Responsibilities: The post holder will be a member of the Medical Staff Committee of CNWL. The post holder will be expected to take part in various committees and project teams relating to service developments. This will be done in discussion with the Borough and Clinical Directors. Teaching Responsibilities: An active role in the postgraduate teaching programme, which consists of a local academic meeting on Wednesday lunchtime. This meeting includes a Journal Club and case presentations. Teaching of medical students who regularly attend ward rounds and community MDT meetings as part of their psychiatric experience. Support is also given to work experience students when applicable. Supervision of the junior doctors allocated to the team. This must meet Royal College of Psychiatrists standards of clinical and educational supervision.
