THIS IS A T32 EXCEPTED SERVICE, PERMANENT POSITION

The primary purpose of the SURFACE MAINTENANCE MECHANIC, WG-5801-10, is to perform maintenance, repair, troubleshooting, inspection, and/or overhaul of a variety of combat, tactical, commercial, and special purpose vehicles and equipment.

May make additional selections within 90 days of eligible(s) issuance.

• You will serve as the primary technical expert in resolving complex technical issues relating to SolidWorks three-dimensional (3D) modeling and technical data packages and drawings.
• You will develop and execute SolidWorks simulations in finite element analysis and computational fluid dynamics.
• You will lead the application of digital drafting and 3D modeling technical engineering practices across the design, development, deployment, and maintenance of expeditionary systems.
• You will apply methods and techniques of three-dimensional (3D) modeling engineering practices and generate technical data packages with minimal rework or the Landing Craft Air Cushion (LCAC) program.
• You will identify and recommend corrective actions for weaknesses and gaps in the digital drafting and 3D modeling technical engineering processes and practices.
• You will select the appropriate process from many alternatives to prepare or edit drawings and models per drawing notices or engineering change proposals, and then generate drawings and 3D models from specifications.
• You will make graphics, sketches, or complex assemblies/models.
• You will be responsible for training, mentoring, and collaborating with Sponsors, Flag Officers, senior personnel, engineers, technicians, military, contractors, vendors, and other support personnel with regards to digital drafting and 3D modeling.
• You will interface with Sponsors, Flag Officers, senior personnel, engineers, technicians, military, contractors, vendors, and other support personnel.
• You will document work actions in writing, provide updates on project status, and document procedures with minimal rework or oversight.

• Conduct work site surveys to identify and evaluate environmental hazards and potential health hazards.
• Determine compliance with established threshold limit values (TLV), evaluating exposures, and advising on control measures and changes in work procedures or schedules to comply with established environmental and health requirements.
• Perform analysis using standard methods to determine nature and degree of toxic material present in a variety of materials such as environmental samples and industrial products
• Determine measurements to be made and methods to be used, calibrate and adapt various kinds of equipment, such as standard spectrophotometers, air sampling trains, and gas chromatographic apparatus.
• Instruct employees on proper selection, usage, and care of respirators in accordance with all applicable regulations.

• Provides guidance and suggestions to the Chief, HIM and Assistant, Chief HIM regarding staffing needs and shortages within the ROI section.
• Ensures that release of information activities related to the development, implementation, maintenance of and adherence to privacy policies and procedures are performed and coordinated in compliance with applicable federal laws and regulations including the Privacy Act of 1974, Title 5 United States Code (U.S.C.) § 552a; Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) Claims Confidentiality Statute, 38 U.S.C. § 5701; Confidentiality of Drug Abuse, Alcoholism and Alcohol Abuse, Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV) Infection and Sickle Cell Anemia Health Records, 38 U.S.C. § 7332; and the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA), Title 45 Code of Federal Regulations (CFR) Parts 160 and 164, and the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA).
• Provides guidance and technical direction necessary for accomplishing the work of the unit or team.
• Ensures that record retrieval and record transfers to other VA facilities for the purposes of continuity of patient care and release of information are timely.
• Provides effective audits and monitors for all areas of responsibility, assuring that accurate and timely data is processed by all employees. Reviews work accomplished and assesses quality, quantity, accuracy and timeliness of work produced by each employee. Ascertains problems encountered and takes corrective action.
• Maintains contact with VA Regional Counsel (VARO) in all matters relating to malpractice, subpoena actions and request for preparation of Tort Feasor (Third Party Liability) records.
