Position Summary:
We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Automotive Technician to join our service team. As an Automotive Technician, you will be responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining a variety of vehicles to ensure they are operating at optimal performance. You will work closely with Service Advisors and other team members to provide top-quality service and repair work in a fast-paced, customer-focused environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Vehicle Diagnosis and Repair:
- Perform diagnostic tests on vehicles to identify mechanical and electrical issues.
- Utilize diagnostic equipment and tools to troubleshoot and diagnose vehicle systems.
- Repair or replace faulty parts, including engines, transmissions, brakes, exhaust systems, electrical systems, and more.
- Conduct routine maintenance services such as oil changes, tire rotations, brake inspections, and fluid replacements.
Service and Maintenance:
- Perform detailed inspections of vehicles to detect potential issues and advise customers on necessary repairs or maintenance.
- Replace worn-out parts, such as filters, belts, spark plugs, and brake pads, according to manufacturer guidelines.
- Keep accurate records of service work performed and parts used.
Quality Control:
- Ensure that all repairs and services are completed to the highest quality standards and in compliance with safety regulations.
- Conduct final inspections of completed work to ensure proper operation of all vehicle systems.
- Test drive vehicles to verify proper repairs and functionality.
Customer Interaction:
- Provide clear explanations to Service Advisors about the repairs performed, parts used, and any additional issues found during inspections.
- Assist in explaining technical issues to customers when necessary, ensuring they understand the repairs needed and associated costs.
Team Collaboration:
- Collaborate with Service Advisors and other technicians to ensure a smooth workflow and timely service delivery.
- Assist in training junior technicians and apprentices, sharing knowledge and best practices.
- Participate in service department meetings to discuss issues, improvements, and goals.
Maintenance of Equipment and Tools:
- Maintain and care for tools, equipment, and the service area to ensure everything is in good working condition.
- Report any issues with tools or equipment to management and ensure proper maintenance of shop facilities.
Safety and Compliance:
- Adhere to all safety procedures and protocols, ensuring a safe working environment.
- Follow all manufacturer specifications, industry standards, and legal regulations regarding vehicle repairs and maintenance.
Qualifications:Education:
High school diploma or equivalent; formal training in automotive technology or certifications (ASE, manufacturer-specific certifications) preferred.
Experience:
2+ years of experience as an automotive technician, with a strong understanding of vehicle systems and repair processes.
Skills:
- Proficiency in diagnosing and repairing a variety of vehicle makes and models.
- Strong knowledge of automotive systems (engine, transmission, electrical, brake, suspension, etc.).
- Ability to operate diagnostic equipment and hand tools effectively.
- Familiarity with automotive repair software and service management systems.
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
