As our Maintenance operative, you’ll be a valuable member of our staff, promoting the well-being of our service users and the successful running of our care home.

This role covers Our services in Crawley and East Grinstead.

The ideal candidate will have maintenance experience in a social care and health care setting, and have good literacy and numeracy skills. A qualification in one aspect of maintenance (e.g., plumbing), would be preferred, but not essential as full training given. The ideal candidate will have a general knowledge of all aspects of household maintenance, and be able to identify when an outside contractor is required and advise accordingly.

This is a full-time contract Monday – Friday with some element of emergency on-call expected to include paid call-outs if necessary.

You will be working jointly with the Home Managers to ensure that our homes are maintained to the highest of standards. Your responsibilities will include -

Liaise with home manager to prioritise and complete maintenance tasks.
General care home maintenance (moving of furniture, mowing/weeding, clearing drains and soil pipes, painting and decorating, and hanging pictures. Mending leaks. Changing taps. Includes ladder work.
Ensure all ventilation units and lights are kept clean. Replace any defective light bulbs/diffusers
Liaise with Home Manager or delegated Staff Member regarding maintenance work to be carried out
Ensure all equipment used by the maintenance operative is clean and well maintained
Checking control panels and electrical wiring to identify issues
Perform minor fixes such as repairing broken locks, filling gaps on walls etc.
Install appliances and equipment
Check functionality of safety systems
Inspect and troubleshoot equipment and systems
Record keeping for tasks identified and completed
Manage a small maintenance budget and keep records of expenditure

The role
As a Senior Maintenance Planner, you'll have a role that's out of the ordinary. You will be involved in a programme of work to maintain the UKs fleet of in-service submarines and associated weapon systems.

Day-to-day, you'll look at MOD policy for maintenance and optimise requirements into packages of work to maximise efficiency.

• Providing in-service support to the Royal Navy's fleet of submarines.
• Provide a holistic view and approach to management of maintenance requirements through life, with a primary focus on submarine weapon systems.
• Liaising with the MoD and Waterfront teams to discuss submarine maintenance requirements.
• Provide reactive support to the customer for emergent engineering and programme challenges contributing to impact statements and option assessments.
• Capture, collate and communicate engineering risks, issues, and opportunities through understanding the submarine material state and through life maintenance.

This role is full time 36 hours per week and provides hybrid working arrangements with 2 days in the office/onsite and 3 days working from home.

Agile working may be available to employees in some instances, applying the principles of fairness and consistency whilst ensuring that the overriding business needs can be appropriately met. Essential experience of the Senior Maintenance Planner

• An in-depth knowledge of Combat Systems as well as a broad knowledge of strategic systems and whole boat engineering requirements.
• Experience and understanding of Submarine Weapon Systems and associated maintenance requirements.
• Vanguard and Astute Class Submarine knowledge and experience is highly desirable.

Qualifications for the Senior Maintenance Planner

• Minimum of HND Foundation Degree with relevant experience.

The Job:
• The role requires you to deploy and retrieve loggers (small metal listening devices) within a DMA (district metered area) for water companies.
• The day to day duties include deploying loggers on the client’s furniture, most likely on fire hydrants and valves and normally 80-100 loggers deployed per day.
• The loggers will need to be retrieved 24 hours later and downloaded to see what results have been captured and the process repeated (the loggers capture constant leakage noise between optical times of 2.00 - 4.00 am and the noise is given in Decibels)
• This is a manual job which may involve lifting, stretching and bending and experience of driving long hours is beneficial.

This would suit a Driver, Van Driver, Multidrop Driver, Meter Reader, Noise Logging Technician, Field Technician, Labourer, Warehouse Operative or somebody with a manual working/outdoor background who is looking for a change in career.
The successful applicant must possess:
• Excellent communication and customer service skills
• A full UK manual driving licence as a vehicle and fuel card will be provided for work purposes
