As our Maintenance operative, you’ll be a valuable member of our staff, promoting the well-being of our service users and the successful running of our care home.

This role covers our services in Plymouth, South West England.

The ideal candidate will have maintenance experience in a social care and health care setting, and have good literacy and numeracy skills. A qualification in one aspect of maintenance (e.g., plumbing), would be preferred, but not essential as full training given. This is a full-time contract Monday – Friday with some element of emergency on-call expected to include paid call-outs if necessary.

You will be working jointly with the Home Managers to ensure that our homes are maintained to the highest of standards. Your responsibilities will include -

Liaise with home manager to prioritise and complete maintenance tasks.
General care home maintenance (moving of furniture, mowing/weeding, clearing drains and soil pipes, painting and decorating, and hanging pictures. Mending leaks. Changing taps. Includes ladder work.
Ensure all ventilation units and lights are kept clean. Replace any defective light bulbs/diffusers
Liaise with Home Manager or delegated Staff Member regarding maintenance work to be carried out

The post holder will be a Pharmacy Technician (NVQ / BTEC level 3 or equivalent) who is currently registered with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC). The post holder will also have completed further training (where required) to achieve accredited checking technician status. To undertake patient-focused Medicines Optimisation pharmacy duties in accordance with Standard Operating Procedures and the legal framework for the supply of medicines. Medication assessment - assess the suitability for the use of medicines brought into the hospital by patients. Supply medicines - ensure and organise the efficient supply of medicines during a patients stay in hospital and for patients taking leave or being discharged. Daily dispensing and checking of medication for inpatient wards and outreach units. Clozapine dispensing service operating from Glenbourne Pharmacy including the checking of blood results and coordination of supplies to inpatients and those in the community. Patient counselling - counsel patients and carers, as appropriate and in conjunction with the clinical pharmacist in order to ensure maximum benefit is gained from their medicines. To undertake medicines optimisation ward services in accordance with standard operating procedures to include: Visiting designated wards/units to check the daily communication book. Checking current ward stock to ensure it is in usable condition and is within its expiry date. Ensuring the appropriate re-use / segregation and / or destruction of unwanted / unsuitable stock. Determining the amount of stock required in liaison with unit managers and ward pharmacist / clinical lead pharmacist. Generating orders for the required amount of stock. Brining to the attention of the ward pharmacist / clinical lead pharmacist any requests from wards for non-formulary items and non-stock items. Informing the ward clinical pharmacist and ward staff of any out of stock, to follow or currently unavailable medicines. Removal and destruction of controlled drugs. Medicines Reconciliation - To participate in Medicines Reconciliation within the relevant care setting. The post holder should have successfully completed an accredited Medicines Reconciliation course and be the holder of a certificate of completion, or be willing to train to do so. This accreditation will allow the post holder within the perimeters of the Medicines Management and Medicines Reconciliation Policy and Procedures to undertake: Level 1 Medicines Reconciliation - accurately complete, verify and record medication histories. Level 2 Medicines Reconciliation - reconcile the verified medication history with the most recent prescription available. Level 3 Medicines Reconciliation - to refer all level 3 to the Clinical Pharmacist. Communicate the outcomes of the level 1 or 2 medicines reconciliation process. Blood test status for patients on Clozapine and dispensed quantity consistent with active test status. To work closely with the pharmacists to resolve discrepancies and make interventions involving patients medication with reference to the prescriber whenever possible. To assess compliance with medication and the patients ability to self-medicate. Where necessary to organise compliance aids for individual patients (medication cards, monitored dose boxes, etc. following formal assessment) to support independence. Planning and Organisational Skills Organising and prioritising own workload in order to respond to urgent and varied requests in a timely manner. Plan the rota for the technical pharmacy team, organising supervision of support staff. Fitting own work schedule within outline staff rotas and being flexible according to the needs of the service. Supervision of junior pharmacy staff in own areas of work to ensure workload is completed in a timely manner. Working under pressure to ensure deadlines are achieved. Scheduling of Clozapine supplies according to blood test status, dosage prescribed and individual factors. A bit about you

- Qualified mechanic: you’re fully qualified to an advanced level (IMI Level 3 in Light or Heavy vehicle or equivalent). You’ve got your own toolkit for standard repairs.
- Varied vehicle experience: Proven Vehicle Technician experience working on a wide range of vehicles, for example LCV / HGV.
- Valid UK driving licence: You hold a full manual UK driving licence.
- High working standards: you take pride in your work and do what is necessary to make sure the job is done effectively.
- Flexible to service demands: you’re able to work on a flexible shift rota. You’re always willing to support your team where necessary.

You will be required to complete RCD testing, emergency lighting tests as well as pre-planned maintenance of power supplies and various other electrical systems within a major retail chain across Southampton. You will additionally be responsible for attending breakdowns as part of a 24 hour call out covering the other stores across Plymouth and surrounding areas.

We are now recruiting for Automation Maintenance Technician at our Plymouth Mail Centre, Plymstock, PL9 7XX site.

Salary: £51,051 per annum, plus night shift allowance of £5,100 per annum (pro rota) , 22.5 days annual leave with bank holidays and a defined contribution pension scheme. A weekend supplement for Saturday (£51 per attendance) and Sunday (£102 per attendance) shift attendance is applicable.
The successful candidate will be required to follow the Plymouth Mail Centre shift rotation system, as outlined below with some degree of voluntary flexibility to meet our 24/7 operational needs on occasion, including voluntary overtime coverage and occasional shift pattern flexibility.

The role will cover Eariles: 06:45 – 15:15 Lates: 14:45 – 23:15 and Nights: 22:45 – 07:15. However, this may change soon to meet the operational needs of the mail centre.

The Role

Shift attendance equates to 40 hours per week
- Full time.
Responsible for ensuring availability and performance of automation assets through completion of effective maintenance procedures.
Key aspects of the role include:


- Perform maintenance tasks, including preventative, predictive and corrective maintenance
- Performing continuous improvement activities
- Provide effective and efficient support to the Engineering Manager, Maintenance Team Leader and Engineering Team Coaches, completion of end of shift reports, fault logging and data entry
- Identify the root cause of automation breakdowns and prioritize corrective actions to meet operational processing requirements
- Monitor equipment performance and improve automation outputs in collaboration with operational stakeholders
- Identifying and working on Continuous Improvement projects, conception to implementation ownership, for machinery in the Hub/ Mail Centre
- Ability to work on own initiative and as part of a team to achieve common goals
About you

As an experienced multi-skilled engineer you’ll be qualified in electrical and mechanical engineering (minimum ONC Electrical Engineering / NVQ Level 3 – or equivalent). Understanding Health & Safety legislation, you’ll have first-hand experience of maintaining automation equipment, ideally Programme Logic Controllers (PLC), along with a flexible approach and the ability to communicate complex issues effectively.


You are required to have a full UK driving licence as on occasion you may be asked to travel to other sites.

Production Technician

Randstad are recruiting for Production Technicians to come and work for an industry leader in medical technology at their Plymouth site on Belliver Industrial Estate (PL6 7BP).

This is a permanent role paying £36,630 per annum on a 3 days on, 3 days off shift pattern. The working hours are 11am to 11pm each day.

Role responsibilites include but are not limited to -

• Attend to electro-mechanical faults, diagnosing and repairing in a timely manner to keep up with production targets.

• Conduct Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) and refurbish offline machinery and ancillaries.

• Ensures all manufacturing equipment is set up and produces product according to established Quality Control specifications and standards. Maintaining acceptable quality and waste levels.

• Ensures that any statutory legislation and/or quality system requirements are adhered to with regard to process changes and equipment modification.

• Continually supervises in-process quality, addressing issues as needed to prevent product holds.

• Ensures that all existing and new equipment and processes are operated in compliance with all current Quality Control, Health & Safety and Environmental legislation and regulatory requirements.

• Works closely with Operational, Engineering and Quality Control personnel to actively pursue and promote continuous improvement; SSU, 5S, CIAS, Near Miss, etc.

• Ensure all equipment is maintained as assigned, and in accordance with requirements detailed on the appropriate schedule/plan or work instruction. Ensuring the minimisation of downtime within planned costs for repair and spares

• To support engineering in the installation and validation of new equipment and technology and ensure a smooth and acceptable transfer to production.

The ideal candidate will have -

• Qualification in electrical or mechanical engineering (e.g C&G, HND) or a time served apprenticeship.

• Experience in a high volume, highly automated manufacturing environment.

• Experience in maintenance and fault finding.
