- You will be directly responsible for the overhaul, maintenance and repair of Norfolk Naval Shipyard's heavy-lift equipment, transporters, locomotives, railcars, mobile cranes, ELPARs, floater cranes, dive boats and in some cases, selected cranes.
- You will study crane maintenance problems and recommends or institutes corrective action, as necessary.
- You will direct, through subordinate supervisors, all maintenance/repair of weight handling equipment (WHE) in the assigned area, adhering to time, cost, safety and quality standards.
- You will analyze work schedules and participates in the establishment of broad Lifting and Handling goals and milestones.
- You will consult with subordinate supervisors to determine work load capacity and make adjustments to work priorities in order to comply with established milestones and changing work conditions.
- You will be responsible for providing basic information to the Manger of the Crane Maintenance Division for the preparation of the Crane Maintenance Division portion of the shop's budget.
- You will contribute to the development of Standard Process Instructions that relate to the Lifting and Handling Department trades and to the development of follow-up plans.
- You will participate in various shipyard management briefs to inform other departments of those issues of concern to the Crane Maintenance Division and Lifting and Handling Department.
