Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Multi Skilled Maintenance Engineer for a well-established and expanding manufacture in Margate. The successful candidate will be able to ensure the smooth operation and maintenance of all plant and machinery on site. They will be responsible for managing a team, coordinating breakdown coverage, ensuring compliance with health and safety and food safety standards, managing maintenance contracts, and maintaining accurate records. A strong technical background, excellent leadership skills, and a proactive approach to problem-solving will be required.
Responsibilities:
- Ensure all plant and machinery used on site are well-maintained and conform to health and safety, BRC food safety standards, and other legal requirements.
- Manage a team of maintenance technicians on a day-to-day basis, providing guidance, support, and training as needed.
- Organise and be part of a call-out team to cover breakdowns and emergencies 24/7, ensuring continuous production if possible.
- Ensure external maintenance contracts are in place and services are scheduled as appropriate.
- Keep and maintain completed maintenance records, workshop manuals, operating manuals, etc., in a safe and accessible place.
- Effectively manage the maintenance budget, ensuring cost-effective solutions without compromising quality or safety.
- Evaluate and recommend an 'onsite' spares inventory for all equipment, ensuring minimal downtime in case of breakdowns.
- Be part of the HACCP team and the Crisis Management Team, actively participating in the development and implementation of relevant plans and procedures.
- Follow company health and safety advice while at work and report any concerns to the Health and Safety representative.
Requirements:
- Proven experience as a Multi Skilled Maintenance Engineer or similar role.
- Strong technical knowledge and skills in electrical and mechanical systems.
- Experience in managing and leading a team.
- Familiarity with health and safety regulations and food safety standards.
- Excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
- Strong organisational and time management skills.
- Ability to work well under pressure and handle emergencies effectively.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
