Responsibilities

Main activities and accountabilities include but are not limited to:

1. Develop / Maintain a comprehensive equipment work and cost history database.

2. Ensure highly planned utilization of technicians and on-time work completion utilizing lowest possible completion cost with minimum disruption to equipment operation.

3. 100% PMs scheduled and completed on time.

4. 100% compliance with all regulatory requirements.

5. Support the development of optimized preventive maintenance plan, delivering key objectives, goals, and strategies for work planning, including safety, regulatory and budget requirements compliance

6. Ensure that all maintenance plans (internal or by contractors) are compliant in terms of safety, regulatory and operational aligned with BD requirements, ensure liaison with material management and reliability

7. Validate the time, materials, resources and tools required to complete each job (PM/CM/Other activities) for the different sections.

8. Manage all planned and scheduled maintenance activities and ensure elimination of de-lays due to waiting for information, materials, equipment, other skills and tools.

9. Manage priorities and control maintenance status realization and propose actions for backlog reduction without risk for Operations.

10. Monitor and control recorded hours, ratio between preventive and corrective maintenance, planning index, schedule alignment and backlog trends and maintenance costs to identify priorities, trigger revision of frequency, duration and or resources in the maintenance plans and potential improvement projects.

11. Ensure up to date key process indicators and actions as well as relevant information to all stakeholders.

12. Ensure that management is practiced, that effective performance review structures are in place and that measurement and review drives continuous improvement projects of the systems of their responsibility.

13. Coordinate the work order generation based on maintenance plan and notifications/service requests, with Production planning to increase the planned work.

14. Ensure that all work meets all the required technical and EH&S specifications.

15. Other duties as required to support the needs of the business.

Minimum Requirement:

• High school diploma/GED required, AA/BS preferred

• Minimum 2 years equipment and automation experience required

• Medical device experience preferred

• Maintenance software experience preferred

Job Responsibilities:

As directed by the Clinical Manager, the Field Implementation Technician role will be focused on, but not exclusively limited to, the activities outlined below:

Primary Responsibilities:

• Manages their responsibilities within the allotted T&E expense budget

• Provides updates monthly to the Clinical Manager on national training activities and support provided across the country (Implementations, Customer Meetings, etc.) per activities delineated in the Individual Impact Goals

• Lead and drive product implementations, including training on new product release kickoffs, answering practitioner and patient questions and will work closely with Clinical Specialists and Territory Managers to facilitate resolution of inquiries. 

• Continuously highlight the essential benefits of the technology to direct users and to hospital personnel.

• Evaluate and communicate customer insights and unmet needs across the continuum of care to ensure innovative product development and product enhancements. 

• Facilitates customer training classes in support of new implementations and conversions for key customers.

• Collaborates with the Regional Teams to clinically support customer engagements from pre-sale through post-conversion.

• Develops strong, working relationships with end-   users while providing product in-servicing and clinical education.

• Provides routine follow-up support to customers at end-user locations as needed.

• Works with CM to ensure scheduling and activities produce the greatest return on investment

• Assists with the creation of clinical education materials, protocols, tools, and clinical training programs for end-users and sales/marketing/clinical staff to ensure successful implementations of new technologies in the field

• Contributes to the improvement of the project management fuction through the creation of additional procedures and processes to enhance the overall effectiveness of the company.

• Demonstrates practical application of successful adult learning practices and methodologies, as well as assessment tools, practices, and techniques

• Advanced knowledge of vascular access, IV therapy, infusion therapy, and laboratory or phlebotomy.

People/Process:

• Aids sales personnel by building strong, working relationships with end users during product in-servicing and clinical education programs.

• Works in concert with the Regional Teams to ensure the sales and product implementation process is clinically effective

• Establishes excellent rapport with Clinical Specialists, Territory Managers, and Associate -Territory Managers across all selling bags, RBM and CM. Works collaboratively with the region in which they are working.

• Collaborates with the Sales Team in key account management strategy sessions

• Provides clinical support,  training and education for team members as needed

• Shares standard processes with the Business, Territory Managers, ATMs, Regional Business Managers, Strategic Customer Group,  Area VPs and their counterparts as they continue to enhance MDS programs and processes

• Provides training activities that help increase the clinical competence for new hires as well as tenured employees.

• Communicates with Clinical Specialist to support the management of the On-call Specialist (OCS) schedule to include coordination of team meetings for consistency of message and briefing of issues

• Works nationally wherever prioritized product implementations are needed.

• Will coordinate among several internal and external teams including project teams, multi-disciplinary hospital teams, and vendors.

• Assists internal team members and customers with all aspects of implementation planning, coordination of resources, scheduling, communication, and formal training.

Job Qualifications & Competencies:

• National Certification (Nationally Registered Paramedic) or State License equivalent, Associate degree in paramedic science preferred, or equivalent experience per hiring manager discretion. 

• Maintains paramedic licensure (nationally and/or state) with good standing

• MInimum of 3-5 years general clinical experience, three must be in the field related to vascular access devices (including peripheral IV catheters), connectors, and lab draws

• Ability to work with extensive travel requirements including weekends, evenings, nights, and travel up to 100%

• Must possess and maintain a valid state-issued driver's license with 3 years of consecutive driving history and meet BD's auto safety standards.

JOB SUMMARY 

Work as one of a team for maximum effectiveness and optimal task methods, which include operating equipment, product inspections, raw material and finished goods movements and area and equipment cleaning.  Repair and adjust production equipment to produce parts which conform to quality specifications.  Perform all job tasks to obtain a production rate equal to or greater than established standards.  Perform changeovers and line clearance.  Troubleshoot equipment including dismantling and reassembling of parts.  Facilitate continuous operation of the equipment through breaks.  Adjustable / flexible work schedule as needed by manufacturing operation requirements.  Instruct employees concerning proper jobs methods.

Hours: 7PM - 7AM

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS  

• Set-up and operate machines to manufacture product which conforms to quality specifications, at the rated output.

• Continually monitor operations for product quality and equipment performance including final QC lot acceptance.

• Notify QC Representative and cell leader/shift supervisor of quality problems

• Repair, adjust and trouble-shoot machinery, including dismantling, replacement of parts and reassembling.  Seek assistance, as necessary, from people outside the department (engineers, controls group, tool room, etc.).

• Maintain a thorough knowledge of all products produced in the department, raw materials required, and product quality specifications.

• Maintain accurate documentation (PPH, scrap/waste, SAP and MES transactions, etc.)

• Maintain clean and organized work area.

• Support production by delivering raw materials, supplies and spare parts to the production line as needed.

• Notify facilitator/shift lead/shift supervisor of issues with equipment or operators and help to develop corrective strategy.

• Perform PM tasks assigned by facilitator.  Work with the process techs to complete PM tasks and coordinate completion of additional repairs during PM time.

• Determine critical machine repair components and maintain inventory in Parts Crib.

• Keep machinery, work area and floors neat and orderly and comply with GMP requirements.

• Propose process improvements to improve cost, efficiency, quality, and productivity of equipment while maintaining change control

• Must be familiar with all relevant controlled documents (Work Instructions, Forms, etc.), preventative maintenance task lists and equipment manuals which pertain to operation of all equipment on the line.

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES

• Proactively participate in safety and continuous improvement activities within work area and provide instruction to operators on Behavior Based Safety procedures.

• Executes additional duties as required by facilitator/shift lead/shift supervisor

• May be required to correct problems during off shifts and on a call-in basis.  

• Ensure efficient shift transfer through effective communication.

• Participate fully to achieve department’s safety goals.

• Debrief accidents and implement solutions to eliminate root cause.

• Other duties as assigned

• Support business needs by working overtime as necessary to satisfy schedule requirements

• Assist technical staff on machine modifications/testing, equipment validations.

Join BD! As a PLC / Manufacturing Technician, you would be responsible for set-up and maintenance of electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic and mechanical systems on equipment used in the production process. Works directly with the Engineering to supervise and improve processes for output and waste levels. Responsible for providing leadership and ownership of process performance issues. Reports directly to Production Maintenance (engineering) and indirectly to Production.

• Responsible for the maintenance of all electrical systems used on all production equipment.

• Responsible for preventive maintenance on designated production equipment as specified in the PM Program or as the need arises to ensure a smooth operation.

• Assists Engineering with the installation, debugging, and start-up of all equipment along with maintaining and adjusting vision systems within defined parameters.

• Maintains equipment logs on assigned equipment, recording pertinent information about downtime and maintenance problems. Documents all process changes using approved control change procedures.

• (Sharps Departments Only) Responsible for mixing silicone/solvent based formulation which is used for the lubrication of needles. Uses viscometer to ensure solids percentage remains within acceptable parameters.

• Provide assistance to ensure all safety and environmental procedures and Quality System Requirements (QSR) are maintained.

• Provides Production Supervisors with relevant information on equipment and process performance, to include production and waste information.

• Provide leadership to other associates in problem solving of production equipment.

• Coordinates and supports other maintenance activities as required.

Required Qualifications:

• High School diploma / GED

• Associate Degree (Mechatronics or similar subject area) preferred

• Able to work 8pm-8am on a 3, 2, 2, 3 schedule

• Extensive knowledge of Allen Bradley PLCs and electrical-mechanical maintenance.

As a PLC / Manufacturing Technician, you would be responsible for set-up and maintenance of electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic and mechanical systems on equipment used in the production process. Works directly with the Engineering to supervise and improve processes for output and waste levels. Responsible for providing leadership and ownership of process performance issues. Reports directly to Production Maintenance (engineering) and indirectly to Production.

• Responsible for the maintenance of all electrical systems used on all production equipment.

• Responsible for preventive maintenance on designated production equipment as specified in the PM Program or as the need arises to ensure a smooth operation.

• Assists Engineering with the installation, debugging, and start-up of all equipment along with maintaining and adjusting vision systems within defined parameters.

• Maintains equipment logs on assigned equipment, recording pertinent information about downtime and maintenance problems. Documents all process changes using approved control change procedures.

• (Sharps Departments Only) Responsible for mixing silicone/solvent based formulation which is used for the lubrication of needles. Uses viscometer to ensure solids percentage remains within acceptable parameters.

• Provide assistance to ensure all safety and environmental procedures and Quality System Requirements (QSR) are maintained.

• Provides Production Supervisors with relevant information on equipment and process performance, to include production and waste information.

• Provide leadership to other associates in problem solving of production equipment.

• Coordinates and supports other maintenance activities as required.

Required Qualifications:

• High School diploma / GED

• Associate Degree (Mechatronics or similar subject area) preferred

• Able to work 8pm-8am on a 3, 2, 2, 3 schedule

• Extensive knowledge of Allen Bradley PLCs and electrical-mechanical maintenance.

  • Trouble shoot and program PLC’s

  • Read and Interpret ladder logic

  • Electrical-Mechanical trouble shooting

• Experience in a high-speed automated manufacturing environment preferred

BD Diagnostic is seeking a field based Automation Service Engineer to provide on-site support at various customer locations throughout the Baltimore region. This position is responsible for leading the success of the relationship with an assigned set of customers in order to achieve the goals and objectives identified by the customer and BD. The individual will be responsible for identifying, evaluating, resolving or advancing customer pain points. In addition, the individual will act as customer advocate and liaison back into the BD organization. This position is also responsible for providing on-site support to BD Lab Automation customers, including installation, corrective maintenance, preventative maintenance, removals, and other support as needed.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:  

• Onsite support for install and service of sophisticated diagnostic laboratory automation instrumentation with minimal direct supervision.  Responds to emergency customer requests via dispatch by the Technical Service Center and finish the work you're doing in accordance with current ISO (International Organization for Standardization) and GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices) standards.

• Provide clear, timely, and effective communications to customers about service expectations, estimated time of arrival, status of ongoing service activities, and service follow-up calls in support of BD Customer Experience (#CX) initiatives.  

• Using solving techniques and analytical thinking skills to diagnose hardware/software issue, resolve corrective action, and complete system repair. 

• Upgrading systems to enable compatible software on all computers.

• Ability to work independently diagnosing and solving problems with schematics, diagrams, service manuals and other user documentation.

• Play an active role in the maintenance and implementation of service documentation, while regularly providing feedback to assist with improving efficiency of documentation within lab automation field service organization. 

• Finish the service documentation as required, or as requested by other business functions, in accordance with current GMP requirements.

• Report and document all customer complaints in appropriate systems of record for resolution and investigation.

• Lead trunk stock inventory within limits established by Recommended Spare Parts Inventory list.

• Maintain all assigned calibrated test equipment and tools in good working condition and calibration dates.

• Demonstrate good judgment in utilization of company credit card, while adhering to expense levels within the established business guidelines.

• Maintain and apply company vehicle as prescribed by fleet vehicle contractor requirements, including vehicle service maintenance, cleanliness, and organization at all times.

• Finish the administrative requirements of the position within expected timeframes.

• Provide on-call support per published schedules, or on short-notice, as required in support of business needs.

• Maintain and demonstrate a professional appearance at all times.

• Support an inclusive and diverse work environment.

• Adhering to current regulatory requirements to include, but not limited to, HIPPA, OSHA, and FDA.

• Must participate in vendor credentialing programs and finish the vendor credentialing requirements to gain and maintain access to customer facilities.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

• Bachelors of Science Degree in a technical field of study, preferred fields: Electrical/Electronics/Informatics/Mechatronics/Biomedical or 10+ years of tried experience as an equivalent.

• Strong solid understanding of electronics, electro-mechanical devices (Mechatronics), PLCs, and pneumatics.

• Intermediate knowledge of information systems networking architecture design and set up.

• Intermediate understanding of computer software operating systems and the ability to speak with customer’s information technology personnel and lab leadership to schedule and complete routine software upgrades and maintenance.

• Understanding of basic computer security concepts and standard processes.

• Proficient in performing software installations and upgrades.

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

• Outstanding customer service and soft skills.

• Attention to detail.

• Good problem-solving and critical thinking skills

• Must possess and maintain a valid state-issued driver's license with at least 3 years of driving history and meet BD's auto safety standards.

• Must be able to work flexible hours throughout the work week while traveling to various US Customer locations.

• Must be available for work on call as needed and be flexible to meet business needs.

• Flexibility to travel up to 50% of time outside of home geographic area, based upon business needs.

• Able to lift up to 30lbs frequently and up to 70lbs infrequently

• Able to handle standing, bending and stooping over a prolonged period of time (up to 10 hours)

• Able to push/pull materials up to 100lbs

• Implement to all PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) standards/guidelines required by company policy.

DESIRED:

• Expertise in Robotics

• 10+ years of confirmed experience in a technical field demonstrating: installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of highly sophisticated instrumentation.

• Knowledge of Lab Information Systems (LIS) and database management.

• A+, Microsoft or Cisco accreditation advantageous.

Position Summary

The Field Service Engineer is a field based customer facing role that includes installing, servicing, maintaining, and implementing field corrective actions to the BD Life science equipment at our customer sites in the clinical and research laboratories, as well as supporting Marketing exhibitions and clinical trials. BD has built a customer centric organization and our Field Service Engineers represent the face of BD to our Customers.

The Field Service Engineer reports to the District Service Manager, and works directly with the district team Leads to obtain formal instrument training and field based OJT for certification on BD products. This position must comply with all Quality, GMP, ISO and safety regulations and adheres to company travel policies.

Key Deliverables and Responsibilities include

• Provide service, preventive maintenance, modifications and installations of BD LifeSiences equipment at Customer sites with minimal supervision.

• Troubleshoot system failures and provide on-site customer repairs; responsible for delivering both timely and effective repairs.

• Manage company assets including, company car, cell phone, computer, tablet, tools, inventory parts, ect.

• Establish and foster positive business relationships with customers and peers

• Perform administrative duties including, but not limited to, recording time worked, training, expense reporting, ect.

• Provide ongoing feedback to customers in regards to instrument repair and status.

• Interfacing regularly with the Technical Support organization in order to provide the highest level of customer support

• Work closely with district team leads and dispatch to schedule and support customer base.

Qualification

• High School diploma required. Associates degree in electrical, mechanical or similar engineering or Biomed program preferred. Equivalent Military training preferred.

• Must be computer literate in Microsoft word, excel, PowerPoint and be able to utilize computer based tools for reports, email and general communication

• Ability to work both in individually and in team setting.

• Must be able to interface with customers, peers and support personnel in a positive manner as well as the ability to think and act in a logical and methodical way.

• 4 years’ relevant experience, earning a degree in engineering or Biomed program, troubleshooting instruments, or a combination

• Must be able to travel a minimum of 50%

• Willingness and ability to work different shifts, on-call, nights and week-ends in case of need.

• Current valid Driving license and good driving record over the last 3 years is required
