Roles and Responsibilities

• Ensure all required Safety Procedures (e.g., Take 5, Risk Assessment) are complied with.

Together we are Trusted to Serve Scotland. Most people don’t think too much about how clean water reaches their taps. Or what happens to their waste water. But Scottish Water does. In fact, it’s all we think about. Want to join us? As a Water Operative, you’ll be on the front lines of making sure Scotland’s water is totally, dependably pure.

You will monitor and maintain water treatment works and pumping stations to ensure the quality of water and work within all regulatory and legislative requirements within the geographical area.

What you’ll do

You’ll join an experienced team that really knows its water, helping to monitor and maintain the quality of water at our treatment works and pumping stations.

Our TOMS procedures will be your guiding star in operating the plant – you’ll calibrate monitors, filters, tank levels and more. And you’ll be the source of recordings on water quality, sorting the ‘exceptional’ from the ‘needs attention’ across measures including pH, chlorine, aluminium and phosphate.

You probably figured it out already, but our aim is always to go beyond what the law and regulations expect of us.

Join, and we’ll get you measured for a hardhat – regular inspections of plants, reservoirs and dams are part of the routine. You’ll also handle risk assessments and keep a close eye on health and safety protocols. As part of the team, you’ll take your turn on the standby rota for out-of-hours cover.

What you’ll bring

We’ll get you fully up to speed on the technical bits of the job. You’ll bring strong communication skills and confidence working on your own. And be comfortable turning your hand to new computer systems – we like to move with the times.

Attention to detail is a must: on your watch there should be no risk of inaccurate recordings or health and safety failures. An eye for spotting trends is helpful and you’ll love solving a problem – on your own initiative and with help from site colleagues.

You’ll need a valid driving licence, but we’ll provide the van. All for the good of Scotland’s water.

Beyond that, we’re looking for a few ‘nice-to-haves’. Knowledge of water treatment processes and distribution systems would obviously be great. Mechanical maintenance experience? Perfect. But none of these are essential.

Reporting to the Production Manager the Production Supervisor - Switchgear will be responsible for planning, directing and coordinating the work activities and resources necessary for manufacturing on their assigned product line, to include providing direct supervision and overseeing workflow, scheduling staff to meet organizational needs, ensuring quality control and process improvement, and creating a safe workplace.

What a typical day looks like:

• Supporting the Production management team in project planning and execution
• Ensuring Anord Mardix products are manufactured efficiently, effectively and to required deadlines
• Reporting any additional production requests and costs to the Production Manager
• Completes daily production meetings, review safety, quality and production issues with their teams
• Provides supervision and leadership to ensure production goals are met
• Confer with technical or administrative staff to resolve production problems.
• Identify safety, quality and production related issues, assists with root cause analysis and employ validate agreed corrective actions.
• Identifies and develops subordinate leadership within the department.
• Prepares and maintains production reports.
• Ensures assigned employees adhere to all relevant health and safety regulations and perform work practices that are safe.
• Supporting the recruitment and appraisal processes for production employees
• Manage production employees to ensure standards and quality of work are met and maintained
• Manage team attendance effectively, including holidays, absences, to ensure production is not disrupted
• Manage teamwork output and make adjustments as required to meet goals
• Use continuous improvement processes to increase 'right first time' and to reduce cost and waste
• Improvement of workplace organization and housekeeping
• Assist with training and mentoring of Team Leaders and production employees
• Ensuring all site requirements are addressed and completed

Job Responsibilities:

• Locate all physical locations.
• Load and unload shipments safely and move product to assigned locations or containers.
• Efficiently stack and store the merchandise in the appropriate areas.
• Ensure inbound and outbound shipments are accurate and free of damage. Report quality variances.
• Use RF Gun for picking, receiving, put-away, replenishments and load functions, as required.
• Maintain the facility’s equipment and materials in a neat, clean, and orderly fashion.
• Inspect the equipment to insure properly functioning daily.
• Communicate and interact with manager to rectify problems, such as damages, shortages, and nonconformance to specifications.
