We are delgihted to share an opportunity for a skilled Machine Operator to join our client and support their operations in Exeter.
The role
Based at our client's site in Exeter, you will be responsible for the safe loading, sorting, and unloading of scrap metal, ensuring high standards of housekeeping. You will work under the guidance of a knowledgeable and supportive Site Manager.
Key accountabilities
- Safely load and unload vehicles.
- Stockpile various grades of scrap metal and assist with ship loading/unloading.
- Store materials in accordance with company policy.
- Complete daily checks and attend training courses.
- Coordinate with team members to process loads correctly.
- Inspect dispatched scrap materials.
- Process materials to meet grade specifications.
- Schedule inward and outward transport.
- Liaise with customers, drivers, and contractors.
- Maintain a clean and tidy working area.
- Work flexible hours, including occasional evenings and weekends.
- Perform additional duties as required.
- Comply with all company policies related to conduct, environmental, health, safety, and community standards.
Skills & experience
- Experience with 360° Material Handler/Wheeled loading shovel is a plus.
- FLT licence is advantageous.
- Proven team player with excellent interpersonal skills.
- Ability to stay calm under pressure.
- Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Strong verbal communication skills.
- Self-motivated, flexible, and adaptable.
