Full Time - Monday to Friday 37 hrs pw.
Aycliffe Sewage Treatment Works
Minimum 6 months.
About the role
At Northumbrian Water we provide both water and sewerage services to 2.7 million
customers in the Northeast of England. This role focuses on our waste water treatment
service, aiming to enhance and protect the environment, whilst also improving the quality of
rivers and coastal waters for the benefit of wildlife and the communities we serve. We are
excited to offer you the opportunity to join our team as a Wastewater Production Operator,
where you will play a vital role in delivering this essential service.
Full training will be provided to support the successful candidate to undertake the various
technical aspects of this role. We seek someone with transferable skills which would allow
them to develop and succeed in this position. Northumbrian Water is committed to
professional development and offers opportunities for formal training and growth within the
organisation.
Working as part of a team, you will be responsible for operating and controlling wastewater
treatment works and pumping stations across the Aycliffe and South Durham area. You will
carry out routine tasks to ensure that our wastewater assets are operating correctly.
Daily tasks would involve sampling and analysing the water to ensure it is treated to the
correct standards, identifying issues with equipment, and carrying out routine checks on the
assets.
You would be using data from company systems to identify trends in performance and when
issues arise, you will undertake fault-finding investigations with support from the wider Team.
During a normal day you will collaborate and communicate with a diverse range of teams to
ensure we maintain compliance with our regulatory obligations and protect the environment.
About you
We want to speak to people who can bring a good combination of technical and
interpersonal skills.
Communication is essential in this role therefore we seek someone who is an excellent
communicator, both verbally and written. You will be a good problem-solver allowing you to
respond quickly to issues, understand the problem, and identify the best solution.
We are looking for a team player who is adaptable to meet a varied workload and someone
who is also comfortable working alone with minimal supervision. You will be proactive by
nature and willing to make suggestions for improvement.
If you have good attention to detail, then we would like to hear from you. Monitoring the
assets is done via visual checks on site, computer systems and lab analysis, so an eye for
detail and ability to follow processes and procedures is required. You will be computer
literate and willing to use new Apps.
The role involves pumps and process equipment so any prior experience or working with
equipment would be advantageous, however this is not essential as training would be given.
The water industry is forever changing therefore you need to be adaptable in order to meet
business need.
If you are practical, pragmatic and enjoy hands-on problem solving then this could be a great
role for you. Please note you a full driving licence is essential.
This role has been defined as a safety or security critical role where you will be required to undergo a drug and alcohol test if successful.
