Major Duties Statement
The position is an Engineering Equipment Operator for the Blue Ridge Parkway. Two positions will be filled from this announcement, one in Roanoke, Co, Va (Vinton sub-district) and one in Floyd Co, Va. (Rocky Knob sub-district.) The primary purpose of the position is to operate various engineering and construction equipment. Major duties include:

• Operates gas or diesel powered engineering and construction equipment with wheeled or crawler-type traction, such as road graders, tractors with bulldozers or angle dozer blades, front-end loaders, backhoes, wheel loaders, trench diggers, and large industrial tractors with pan or scraper attachments.
• Operates equipment to push, pull, pile, excavate, backfill, grade, or level earth and /or refuse.
• Uses equipment to perform such functions as cutting, moving, digging, grading, and rolling earth, sand, stone, and other materials to maintain ditches, road shoulders and beds.
• Road maintenance including winter snow removal on mountain roads in winter storm conditions

• You will operate passenger and school buses to transport school-aged children.
• You will notify supervisor or dispatcher if disturbances prevent the safe operation of the bus.
• You will report all violations of the Student Code of Conduct.
• You will operate school bus safety controls to include warning lights and swing arm stop signs.
• You will complete trip tickets and accident reports (if needed).
• You will perform pre and post trip vehicle inspections and report identified issues.

• You will work independently in applying analytical processes to the planning, design, and implementation of new and improved video teleconference systems to meet the operational requirements of users.
• You will plan, design, test and evaluate, develop, and maintain AV/VTC systems within Marine Corps University; and lead technical efforts for design, installation, production, maintenance and availability management of AV/VTC services.
• You will lead the department and the employees responsible for managing VTC requirements of scheduled events, including ensuring proper manning and availability of VTC capabilities in support of scheduled events.
• You will be responsible for the professional training and development of personnel within the VTC team and ad hoc training (as required) of additional personnel within the IT Directorate.
• You will coordinate with the Audio-Visual Branch Head and assist in the setting of work schedules and recommend changes to the CIO to alter work schedules to better support scheduled events.
• You will lead preventative and remedial maintenance events and assigns tasks based upon team professional development needs and operational readiness concerns.
• You will participate in staff conferences, seminars and meetings on current program status and requirements, to ascertain forthcoming policy and objectives and to resolve or reconcile quality of performance and products in meeting objectives.

• You will provide technical, solution, maintenance and design activities to include planning for the upgrade of Video Teleconference hardware and software necessary to provide and manage end users' services.
• You will set up, code and runs new configurations to support audiovisual and classroom support activities within Marine Corps University.

• Preparing digital videotape, preparing electronic graphics, designing and configuring sets.
• Editing videotape on various multi-format editing systems.
• Preparing remote lighting presets and parameters, directing productions, and performing digital/nonlinear videotape editing.
• Operating teleprompting equipment, audio mixers, studio lighting systems, and other television equipment to complete visual information projects.
