This is a permanent, shift-based position, working X4 12-hour day shifts one week, followed by X3 12-hour night shifts the week after. The Role

This position involves following process controls and working to production schedules to mix and manufacture large quantity batches of fine chemicals and polymers.

• Working as a team, effectively manufacturing batches of chemicals

• Facilitating the transfer of manufactured bulk batches to IBCs or tankers

This role requires a responsible person who understands the importance of following procedures and maintaining health and safety standards.

You’ll need to enjoy learning and be able to follow written and verbal instructions to the letter. It is a position of responsibility and requires dedication and an understanding of the risks involved in the work.

Other requirements are:

• Must be literate, numerate, able to communicate clearly and follow both verbal and written instructions accurately and consistently.
• A formal qualification in science (preferably chemistry), such as a GCSE, A Level, HND or BSc would be an advantage, although experience in a relevant manufacturing industry is acceptable as an alternative. Full training will be given to the successful candidate
• Preferably some experience of the operational requirements of a manufacturing environment, or an ability to demonstrate a sound understanding of the key issues.

Production Operatives

Location: St Austell

Shift: Monday-Friday / 07:30-17:00

Salary: £11.53 per hour

Acorn by Synergie is currently seeking experienced Production and Factory Operatives to join their client's friendly, modern factory located in St Austell.

In this role, you will primarily work with glass, involving both manual and machine-assisted cutting, as well as loading and unloading the furnace. Additionally, you will operate various machinery and handle the movement of glass across the factory floor.

Please be aware that this position is physically demanding, and you will be required to work within set deadlines and meet customer delivery targets.

Ideally, candidates should have a background in manufacturing / production or prior experience in manual labour. As a Production and Performance Manager at our new automated Distribution Centre, you will manage and optimise the performance of our automated systems, whilst continuously seeking opportunities to enhance overall warehouse efficiency.

Located at the Omega Business Park, off Junction 8 on the M62, this facility is the UK's first of its kind, utilising WITRON’s order picking machinery (OPM) and will become operational in early 2025.

Your responsibilities include overseeing Control Room activities, ensuring timely and budget-compliant delivery of the warehouse capacity schedule, and managing performance KPIs for operations from goods in, to goods out. You will work with the WITRON automation system to lead efforts in diagnosing and resolving technical issues, implementing process improvements, and providing daily performance reports. Additionally, you will maximise product throughput via automated processes and manage a team of Process and Master Data Engineers.

Job Overview

• Manage Control Room Activities: Oversee all operations within the Control Room to ensure efficient functioning.
• Deliver Daily Warehouse Capacity Schedule: Ensure the daily warehouse capacity schedule is delivered on time, within budget, and to the correct standards.
• Team Management and Development: Set objectives, manage performance, and develop the team of Process and Master Data Engineers through regular feedback and development actions.
• Manage Performance KPIs: Oversee and deliver end-to-end performance KPIs for warehouse operations, from goods in to goods out.
• Cross-Functional Collaboration: Working with Warehouse, IT, Engineering, Buying, and Transport teams to review plans and resolve technical issues.
• Resolve Automation Issues: Lead the diagnosis and resolution of automation process and technical issues to minimise operational impact.
• Implement Process Improvements: Develop and implement process improvements to increase automation efficiency.
• Provide Performance Reporting: Deliver daily automation performance reports to operational stakeholders.
• Maximise Automated Product Throughput: Enhance the volume of products processed through automated systems versus manual pick.

Minimum Criteria To Apply

• Advanced experience in providing operational technical support within a fast paced, high volume automated warehouse/manufacturing environment.
• Experience of leading technical teams.
• Experience of managing and implementing process improvement initiatives.
