The opportunity has arisen for a suitably qualified supervisor to join our Pharmacy Production Unit. The post would suit a qualified Pharmacy
technician or Science Manufacturing Technician (SMT) who is currently working in a Pharmacy Production unit or Pharmaceutical Industry with experience of working within the manufacturing
environment.
You must have manufacturing technical experience, be well-motivated, have good communication skills, well informed about the GMP & GCP regulatory standards and works well as a team member and leader.
The post covers a wide range of duties as outlined in the Job summary section of the job description.
You will hold a BTEC/NVQ3 in Pharmaceutical science / Level 3 diploma in principles and practice for Pharmacy Technicians or equivalent Science Manufacturing Technician academic study and registered with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC) or professional body.
Note the applicant may be asked to rotate at the RF Hampstead site or any other Hospitals that join our Group Model.
The position is a permanent post of 37.5 hours per week and will include 7 day cover & Bank Holiday cover. This post may require cross-site working at Barnet & Royal Free hospitals and any other hospitals that joins our Group Model.

The post holder is to assist the Chief Technician and act as a supervisor in the day to day running of one of the following teams, the Chemotherapy unit, the Sterile Batches Unit, the Central Intravenous Additive Service (CIVAS) and the Non-Sterile Manufacturing Department in addition to training new and less experienced staff working in these units.

The post holder will be a member of one of these and will rotate between teams as required.

It is the post-holder’s responsibility to ensure that all products made are manufactured in accordance with the principles of Good Manufacturing Practice, COSHH and Health and Safety Directives.

The post-holder will be expected to deputise for the Chief Technician in each area in his / her absence.

The post-holder is expected to develop and maintain personal expertise in all technical aspects of manufacture and extemporaneous preparation undertaken within the production unit at The Royal Free Hospital, in particular aseptic preparation. To this end, they will be responsible for ensuring their own accreditations are completed and re-validated within the specified time frames.

CACI is looking for a Senior Water Jet Operator/Sheet Metal Technician to join the Model and Fabrication team at the Naval Surface Warfare Center at Carderock. This position is located in Bethesda, MD and is 100% on-site.

 

Projects in this role require the fabrication of complex and unique parts and the development and application of unique fabrication solutions to the creation of scale physical models. These models are then used to evaluate vessel structural, hydrodynamic or signature properties.

 

The technician will apply a comprehensive, intensive, and practical knowledge of a wide range of skills to develop and execute innovative methods to produce high tolerance finished components and models. This requires the technician to independently plan and carry out assignments in accordance with the Model Fabrication Facility policies and standard practices.

 

Working Conditions:

 

The technician will frequently work inside and outside of buildings. S/he will work in cold weather. S/he may be working in the hot sun. S/he will work in environments where ventilation or respirators may be necessary. S/he must be safety minded about themselves and others. S/he will check tools and equipment, and see their capacities are not exceeded; and that tools are kept in a safe working condition.

• Loading and unloading material from the waterjet machines utilizing cranes and forklifts.
• Assisting welders with layout of welded assemblies

• Breaking edges on finished waterjet parts
• Operating Plate Roller (HY100, HY80, SS, and Al)

• Taking measurements utilizing mechanical and ultrasonic equipment (plate thicknesses, out of fairness, etc.)

 

Technical Duties: 

• Develop run code for CNC based waterjet and punching machine operations, apply qualitative and quantitative techniques to determine the most efficient methods to meet the end results called for in the fabrication drawings and specifications.
• Maintain and repair waterjet equipment.  Create quotes for waterjet parts required for repairs and maintenance.
• Using knowledge of model manufacturing, material characteristics, industrial processes, metal forming, inspection methods and equipment, determine materials and methods to establish and apply cost effective setups to fabrication projects.
• Determine proper bend radii for a variety of ferrous and non-ferrous materials, including aluminum alloys, mild steels, high yield steels, stainless steels, copper, and bronze alloys.  Analyze and determine whether pre or post heat treatment, artificial aging or annealing of materials should be performed to allow the material to be formed using the tools and equipment available.
• Use analytic techniques and technical knowledge to diagnose and determine root cause of fit and finish deviations and other fabrication issues.  Develop methods and processes, with the support of technical specialist and program engineers, to ensure that the issues are resolved in production processes and similar issues are reduced or eliminated in future tasks.
• ·Design, build and research specialized tooling and fixtures to be used to support the production of complex components. The technician will be required to produce high quality models with tight tolerances.
• Provide schedule input to include projections of time required to develop jigs and fixturing, produce the first order samples or mockups, fabricate components, and assemble models, and to conduct required quality control checks and verifications.
• Independently plan, layout, setup, form, fasten, and construct the objects and systems from oral instructions, sketches, incomplete drawings, complex drawings or written instructions, where there are no past precedents available.
• Conduct tests, collect data, interpret data and document data as required by model specification sheets.  Typical data to be collected include weld parameters, sheet metal thicknesses, geometric measurements, weld pre, post and interpass heat requirements, and other data as determined by the project.
• Collect data using laser tracking equipment, ultrasonic devices, and precision measuring instruments such as calipers, verniers, electronic protractors, squares, height gauges, depth gauges, indicators, and micrometers.

 

 

 

You’ll Bring These Qualifications

 

General:

 

• 5+ years of experience in Water Jet and Sheet metal fabrication.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance.
• Ability to interface with project managers, engineers, shop supervisors, technical specialists, craftsmen, and other outside contractors.
• Strong math skills
• Oral communication skills.
• Working knowledge of MS Office, Outlook, Excel, and Word.
• Working knowledge of commercial CAD/CAM software.
• Ability to setup, operate and troubleshoot all standard conventional sheet metal equipment. 
• Ability to operate, program and edit CNC 2/3 axis controllers and run code.

Technical:

• Thorough understanding of geometric dimensioning and tolerance practices.
• Thorough understanding of all conventional and CNC sheet metal processes. Processes to include  water jet cutting, bending, forming, rolling, shearing, and punching.

• Knowledge of all industrial capabilities and processes, and any emerging state-of-the-art equipment, methods or services available.

• Knowledge of metallic and non metallic materials (research composite materials, plastics, rubber, resins, polycarbonates, nickel alloys, bronze alloys, steel alloys, aluminum alloys, high yield steels and new research metals), and their metallurgical/physical characteristics.
• Ability to read and work from highly detailed drawings and specifications as well as developing components from concept sketches with minimal details.

CACI is looking for a Senior Water Jet Operator/Sheet Metal Technician to join the Model and Fabrication team at the Naval Surface Warfare Center at Carderock. This position is located in Bethesda, MD and is 100% on-site.

 

Projects in this role require the fabrication of complex and unique parts and the development and application of unique fabrication solutions to the creation of scale physical models. These models are then used to evaluate vessel structural, hydrodynamic or signature properties.

 

The technician will apply a comprehensive, intensive, and practical knowledge of a wide range of skills to develop and execute innovative methods to produce high tolerance finished components and models. This requires the technician to independently plan and carry out assignments in accordance with the Model Fabrication Facility policies and standard practices.

 

Working Conditions:

 

The technician will frequently work inside and outside of buildings. She/he will work in cold weather. She/he may be working in the hot sun. She/he will work in environments where ventilation or respirators may be necessary. S/he must be safety minded about themselves and others. She/he will check tools and equipment, and see their capacities are not exceeded; and that tools are kept in a safe working condition.

• Primary Responsibilities:
• Operating and maintaining OMAX waterjets
• Loading and unloading material from the waterjet machines utilizing cranes and forklifts.
• Assisting welders with layout of welded assemblies
• Grinding (weld prep, backgrinding)
• Recording and logging weld parameters
• Breaking edges on finished waterjet parts
• Operating Plate Roller (HY100, HY80, SS, and Al)
• Operating conventional and CNC press break
• Operating Box Break
• Operating shears
• Taking measurements utilizing mechanical and ultrasonic equipment (plate thicknesses, out of fairness, etc.)

 

Technical Duties: 

• Develop run code for CNC based waterjet and punching machine operations, apply qualitative and quantitative techniques to determine the most efficient methods to meet the end results called for in the fabrication drawings and specifications.
• Maintain and repair waterjet equipment.  Create quotes for waterjet parts required for repairs and maintenance.
• Using knowledge of model manufacturing, material characteristics, industrial processes, metal forming, inspection methods and equipment, determine materials and methods to establish and apply cost effective setups to fabrication projects.
• Determine proper bend radii for a variety of ferrous and non-ferrous materials, including aluminum alloys, mild steels, high yield steels, stainless steels, copper, and bronze alloys.  Analyze and determine whether pre or post heat treatment, artificial aging or annealing of materials should be performed to allow the material to be formed using the tools and equipment available.
• Use analytic techniques and technical knowledge to diagnose and determine root cause of fit and finish deviations and other fabrication issues.  Develop methods and processes, with the support of technical specialist and program engineers, to ensure that the issues are resolved in production processes and similar issues are reduced or eliminated in future tasks.
• ·Design, build and research specialized tooling and fixtures to be used to support the production of complex components. The technician will be required to produce high quality models with tight tolerances.
• Provide schedule input to include projections of time required to develop jigs and fixturing, produce the first order samples or mockups, fabricate components, and assemble models, and to conduct required quality control checks and verifications.
• Independently plan, layout, setup, form, fasten, and construct the objects and systems from oral instructions, sketches, incomplete drawings, complex drawings or written instructions, where there are no past precedents available.
• Conduct tests, collect data, interpret data and document data as required by model specification sheets.  Typical data to be collected include weld parameters, sheet metal thicknesses, geometric measurements, weld pre, post and interpass heat requirements, and other data as determined by the project.
• Collect data using laser tracking equipment, ultrasonic devices, and precision measuring instruments such as calipers, verniers, electronic protractors, squares, height gauges, depth gauges, indicators, and micrometers.

 

 

 

You’ll Bring These Qualifications

 

General:

 

• 5+ years of experience in Water Jet and Sheet metal fabrication.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance.
• Ability to interface with project managers, engineers, shop supervisors, technical specialists, craftsmen, and other outside contractors.
• Strong math skills
• Oral communication skills.
• Working knowledge of MS Office, Outlook, Excel, and Word.
• Working knowledge of commercial CAD/CAM software.
• Ability to setup, operate and troubleshoot all standard conventional sheet metal equipment. 
• Ability to operate, program and edit CNC 2/3 axis controllers and run code.
• ·Skilled in the interpretation of complex engineered drawings, sketches and verbal communications.

 

Technical:

• Thorough understanding of geometric dimensioning and tolerance practices.
• Thorough understanding of all conventional and CNC sheet metal processes. Processes to include  water jet cutting, bending, forming, rolling, shearing, and punching. 
• Thorough understanding of workflow requirements, equipment capabilities, skill levels required, and amount of time needed to accomplish work.
• Knowledge of all industrial capabilities and processes, and any emerging state-of-the-art equipment, methods or services available.
• Ability to collect, analyze, and compose data 
• Knowledge of metallic and non metallic materials (research composite materials, plastics, rubber, resins, polycarbonates, nickel alloys, bronze alloys, steel alloys, aluminum alloys, high yield steels and new research metals), and their metallurgical/physical characteristics.
• Ability to read and work from highly detailed drawings and specifications as well as developing components from concept sketches with minimal details.
• Knowledge and ability to determine requirements, develop specification for and conduct heat treatments of various aluminum, steel and stainless steel alloys to meet project requirements.
